From K1, Canderous spoke of : (paraphrased) : "For 40 of your years, I've fought...." His first initiation battle as a "young mandalore plunged into the thickest fighting" above some world in his bassilisk war droid. i.e. Coming of adulthood @ 18 years BUT, 5 years have elapsed since K1.... Therefore : 18 + 40 + 5 = 63  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I wouldn't be so quick to assume that the Mandalorian "coming of age" is 18 as it is in the US. They're a warrior culture. I would assume that they start initiating their warriors at a far younger age. 16 at the very latest, although I'd guess somewhere around 13. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> According to one source it's 13 -

IT would be a cool concept if the Mandalorians really did have the ability of long life, like living to be 200 or something. -

Actually Canderous might not be 63. Canderous said he was part of the Mandalorian Youth Corp, or something another. Mandalorians are concidered adults by 13 years of age, that is when they begin their Training by their fathers. Whether or not Obsidian knew this info is unknown. -

Not too sound stupid or anything but couldn't the original mask have been destroyed in the battle with revan? or even lost during the very same battle? Now with that out of the way, I have to ask agian since the last time I asked no one answered me which leaves me to belive that either no one knowns or I am correct. But the mantle of Mandalore, doesn't it get pasted to the person most deserving (i.e. the person who can best the prior mandalore in battle) or should the last mandalore die in battle against someone other than a mandalorian the mask would go to the next strongest mandalorian (proven either through battle or in a battle royal between those who belive they deserve the right of mandalore). If this is the case then Canderous should be the strongest mandalorian in the whole galaxy since at the end of KOTOR he would have been between level 16 and level 20 (all depending on how high you leveled him and when you last used him). So to just rule him out as being the one true mandalore doesn't make sense though I guess some people will be disspleased no matter how Obsidian chose to handle this, Because there will be people out there who will be upset if Mandalore is Canderous and some who will be pissed because if he isn't. I personally think that Canderous IS mandalore and with the game only 3 weeks away I can't wait to find out for sure. Though there is one problem with canderous being mandalore and thats the fact that if he is in fact mandalore that would mean that we wouldn't be able to have him in our party till much later in the game than most of us would like (more than likely after we get the prestige class), since he would still be a high level character in the TSL. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Game Levels aren't continuity, so just because Canderous was Level 16 doesn't make him the greatest Mandalorian ever. Canderous as Mandalore would have to be well versed in not only ruling an army, but an entire Sector of space. Canderous is a warrior, he doesn't rule, he follows. He also has had misgivings about hte Mandalore code, therefore he isn't fit to be the Lord of Mandalore. His misgivings show weakness among Mandalorians, a Mandalore can't afford to be weak. He has to be a PURE Warrior, and an awesome ruler. Canderous is cool, but just because he's a good Basilisk rider, doesn't mean he has everything that makes a Mandalore. -

Just because Canderous says he's Mandalore doesn't mean he is. It seems bioware and obsidian fail to understand that they created a Mandalore in KOTOR. If we do not find out what happened to him in KOTOR 2, then he must be still around. Technically it's good insurance. If Canderous is Mandalore, then I highly figure he wants to make the Mandalorians a fully Merc race. While the Mandalore from KOTOR still believe in the honor and glory of Mandalore. My proof goes with the Mask, the True Mandalore mask is Red, Canderous has a Silver Mask. Which isn't the true Mandalore mask. There was a line from LOTR that I like. "There is only one Lord of the Ring, and he does not share power." Twist it and you get... "There is only one Lord of Mandalore, and he does not share power." Canderous better watch his back. -

the Leader of all Mandalorians -
Well that site is wrong. Jaster was the Leader of the Mandalorian Mercs, not the Mandalorians. the Mandalorians from Mandalore have already begun their fight in the Clone Wars. In issue 65 they are fighting. If you are to go by that site, then all the Mandalorians are dead. But issue 65 of republic proves that wrong, not to mention that the red masked warrior leads them. Jaster was just a leader of mercs, that got killed.

Who would you make a jedi?
Darth Nuke replied to Darth Sun_Tzu's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If Mandalore could be trained he would own all. Quite possibily the greatest warriors in the Galaxy given the strenght of a Jedi. A Mandalore without power can defeat even the most potent Jedi, imagine a Mandalore with the Force. There would be no stopping the Mandalorians this time. -
Oh and the Mandalorians started with a guy named Mandalore. Who loved his name so much, that he named his planet, people, sector, and other things after him.
-
I meant proof about Mandalore Thats fine. But his depiction of the Mandalorians seems to violate basic facts about them <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Your basing it off Open Seasons. Open Seasons was about a group of Mercs lead by Jaster Mereel, not by Mandalore. Jango was taken in by Jaster, and was taught the ways of Mandalorian, but he isn't a Mandalorian. Those who come from Mandalore are full blooded lords of Mandalore. It's not known what Mandalore and his warriors were before the conquering of Mandalore, but after they became a people. Now I'm not saying that you can't become a Mandalore, but I'm saying that they are a race none the less. They are a people, not a Mercenary group.
-
Yes, tho if it's drastic enough of an aging difference to have to use a new system to compare ages then they prolly qualify to be a new species, but being a Mandalorian doesn't mean your from anywhere specific. It means your part of a club. While you can be a Madalorian and be from Mandalore, you can be a Mandalorian from Yavin IV. The planet doesn't nessasarily mean anything. Hell the planet was named after the people. You see, it's just a group of mercs who banded together. different universe, if it's even true <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well actually the Mandalorians are a Race of People, not a band. Mandalore and his warriors Conquered and Settled the Planet Mandalore, and the systems that would one day become the Mandalore Sector. This is proven more so because the Mandalore speak of their forefathers, and plus the first Mandalorians probably did a lot of banging, and so future generations formed. Canderous also speaks of HIS PEOPLE. Fenn Shysa the post Empire era Mandalore speaks of his people. The Mandalorians are a people. Also the Mandalorians aren't Mercs, they are crusaders and conqueres. Some become mercs, but all races have those who become Mercs.

Mandalorian is an affiliation. Kinda like saying "Rebels" or "Empire". They are human. How it worked, for those wondering, is that the Mandalorians were led by a warlord named Mandalore. That's where the Mandalorians got their name. Hell, Jengo Fett wasn't born a Mandalorian, he became one later on. Mandalorians are humans. Check the SW database: Canderous, look at the box on the right. So unless I'm missing something, Mandalorian is 63, in human years. anyone know, I couldn't find it, how old canderous was in K1? alot younger than I thought <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just because the Mandalorians Are human doesn't mean they don't age differently. Admiral Pellaeon is like 90 years old post ROTJ, but he looks early 60's. People from different planets age differently. Aragon from LOTR was some kind of human that aged slowly.
-
Well I've been told that we will find out that WHY the Mandalore isn't rebuilding his armies, and I've also been told that it isn't the GUY from KOTOR. I beginning to believe it is indeed Canderous
-
Perhaps Mandalore's ageing is like that of Aragonn from Lord of the Rings.

new episode 3 video game screen
Darth Nuke replied to Exar_Kun's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I knew LOTR and Star Wars took place in the same continuity. I'm sure everyone can see Mount Doom in the background -
i doubt we will be going to the home planet of the mandalorians, my geek sense is telling me it has been destroyed or somethin like that... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mandalore(Planet) is still around 4000 years later. As is the rest of the Mandalorian Sector. Mandalore isn't Canderous, and Mandalore isn't on Dxun. In KOTOR Mandalore was leading from Mandalorian Space, far away from ONderon or it's moon. Now if could be that Mandalore seeks the PC out and you will meet Mandalore on Dxun. But in no way is Mandalore stuck there.

There's that mask thing again. If Revan aced the "first" Mandalore (ie the one in the Mandalorian Wars), wouldn't he have realized the importance of the mask and stripped it off his corpse? Canderous mentioned that the Mandalorians were a shattered people after Mandalore's defeat, what better way to crush your enemy's fighting spirit by taking away their symbolic leadership (they took everything else away, why not the mask?)? If I were Revan :D , I'd have stashed that mask somewhere for safe keeping, which would mean that this Mandalore is definitely a pretender to the throne. Probably why he isn't universally acknowledged by the other Mandalorians - either that, or they're doing a fine job of disseminating. Hmmm, could they just be pretending to be broken? Could the real Mandalore have doubled himself and sent his decoy to a death to fool the Republic (and sent another decoy to draw in assassins)? Seems rather convoluted, but the best way to fool the enemy is to fool your own people first (or so goes an old military axiom). Of course, if Revan did take the original mask, then the only ones that would have access to it are Revan and possibly his crew from KotOR, or any of the Sith Lords that managed to either beat it out of him (HAH! Fat chance of that! - course I'm just biased " ), or somehow persuade/trick him out of it (again, something I think highly unlikely). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well unfortunatly Revan not that Smart. For the Mandalore in KOTOR 2 has the Mask of Mandalore.

Since we know NOTHING about this mandalore I think its kinda of stupid to just rule out the possiblity of canderous being the new mandalore, a lot can happen over a five year period. I still think that (and since no one has corrected me yet) that the title of mandalore can be awarded to just about anyone all they have to be able to do is kill the previous mandalore. Now since the one that was killed by revan the next mandalore would have had to more than likely just be the first one to find the mask. But I still think that Candy could have went bacck to "mandalorian" space and challenged the rulling mandalore for the title (after seeing the cowardly act of the various mandlorians during the game) and won in a death match. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Canderous isn't like that. He doesn't desire power. Canderou would follow this Mandalore, like all the rest.

I was under the impression that the Mandalorians didn't have a home to go back to anymore. Actually this bit is probably the thing that throws me off a lot. I believe Revan constructed HK-47 after finding the Star Forge and sent him to ace Mandalore, proving that a Mandalore was at least inferred to be in existence somewhere. However this new Mandalore didn't seem all that impressive, since the Mandalorians were still largely scattered, and he didn't seem to command the complete loyalty of ones that weren't abroad. These Mandalorians I took as the bandit type, since they seemed largely pathetic and a rather cowardly lot (even though they are the ones that mention "following Mandalore"). Attacking unarmed individuals with cloaking technology doesn't seem like something a regular Mandalorian would be indulging in (this is supposedly the dude that took down HK? <_< ), but then again, they did get their heads handed to them on their own pikes earlier - so maybe they learned some humility (if not outright fear ) ? Maybe he just decided to crown himself such, but if this is the same Mandalore as the one I'm thinking of, then this dude is definitely not worth the time it takes me to spit him on my saber (if my PC was that kind of Jedi anyways, which he most certainly isn't ) - let alone allow him to join my party. I was hoping for a more formidable adversary/ally (depending on what circumstances we meet him). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mandalorians have an Entire Sector they call home. HK faught against the Mandalore who rose after the Mandalorian Wars, HK was defeated by him. He is very impressive, for he has to rebuild an entire Sector. Canderous says that some stayed in Known Space, while the REST went home. So because a Few stayed, doesn't mean, he doesn't rule the rest. There are still Clans and the rest of the Mandalorians who went home he rules over. Now the Kashyyk thing is a point of View. For Mandalore, this is a guy who has to rebuild. He needs NEW weapons. So he test them on a race he believes is strong, and sees honorable. The Mandalorians he sent didn't like that Idea, and were kinda angry that they couldn't face the Wookies face to face. But it's a point of view. This Mandalore is most likely the same Mandalore who ruled after the Mandalorian Wars.
-
*Cracks Neck* Not all the Mandalorian became Mercs and Bounty Hunters. Canderous says those who didn't go to the outer rim, became those things. The Mandalorians who didn't went home, to Mandalorian Space. A Mandalore was soon chosen and he has ruled for the past 7 to 8 years. Hk-47 faught against him, and lost, and the Mandalorians on Kashyyk were sent there by Him. It's not Canderous, it's not Revan. This Mandalore is just some Mandalore who had the right to take the title some 8 years before KOTOR 2.
-
Dont Mandalorians only fight to the death? Even if you spared him, he would probably kill himself. But yea, its still a good theory, I guess we'll learn on December 6th or February 2nd To quote Canderous "Both in our wars and in our personal combats there are no survivors" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well the Mandalore from the Sith War asked Ulic to kill him when he was defeated, but Ulic spared him instead.
-
That was 40 years ago in KOTOR Time. The New Mandalore from TOTJ left Dxun went back to his Sector with his Mandalorian Clans. The New Mandalore in KOTOR was Leading from Mandalorian Space. So no Mandalore on Dxun, unless FAKE Mandalore. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Mandalorian who has picked up Mandalore's mask on Dxun, is he really the same one who returned to his Sector? There could be two of them, one real and a FAKE... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, he's dead now. Another Mandalorian took his place.
-
If it is THE Mandalore, he'd better not be a joinable NPC until very late in the game. Otherwise it'd seem rather weird for him to be tagging along with "low level" characters. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The many lost wars could have made THE Mandalore a "low level" character as well. After the extinction of his people he grew lonely and therefore joins your party. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That could be true, only if he people were Extinct.
