They are primarily melee oriented and benefit well from coordinated attack and marking weapon. Especially Zahua who, under these circumstances, can keep even dragons on the ground for the duration of an entire combat pretty much from the get go. The Devil has got some immunities, so you can let her fight in some of your wizard's clouds. Though she can ditch a lot of damage on the same target that Zahua is keeping on the ground. I don't think any class is more or less deep into the lore. Though a Paladin with high Lore for Paralysis and Prayer against Imprisonment scrolls seems like it could fit you well for what you're after. EDIT: PS: you might also like that other companion, too... but you haven't seen her thus far, so just play the game.

Pondering Questions...
Hulk'O'Saurus replied to daveyeisley's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Because Ondra is a god, and in the setting, gods are the sources of moral authority. Or, rather, each god's morality is given legitimacy by their divine nature. So, what Ondra did would seem evil to, say, a follower of Eothas, but perfectly legitimate to one of her followers (or a follower of Berath/Rymgard). It's how things like the Bleak Walkers can be a legitimate thing, and not being chased out of every town as a bunch of evil bandits. This is what Iovara had been fighting against, and the implication of her message. If the gods aren't truly gods, but super-powerful soul robots, then they can be held to account for their actions against mortals. They have no inherent right to rule, or even to exist. Consider the fact that you ate the souls of an entire city district, and all you got was a measly +1 Might out of it. The number of Hollowborn souls is greater, but not by that much. Had you absorbed them, your +20 might would turn into +200 might, but it wouldn't be enough to turn you into a god. Well... if you put it like this, it takes the souls of great many people to do anything on the level of the gods. Greedy bastards. -
To be honest, actual sentient beings wouldn't do some of the punishing stuff that they do in this game. One instance--mobs that never give up on chasing, even if you've more than half a map away but you're still in combat. Separating enemies is a sound strategy, albeit looking crude in PoE. 'Divide and conquer' is there for a reason, and if you think about it, the game represents areas with minimal assets, so there is nothing cheesy about enemies getting lost after a long chase... RP-wise, of course.

Help me Roll a Bleak Walker
Hulk'O'Saurus replied to Torm51's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think being a Watcher makes one pretty Neutral in general... -
Wizard. Fear, terrified, slow spells, draining spells... seems the most thematically appropriate class. Probably leather armour for the most DR with the least recovery time. RP as the early stages of a Death Knight who is just starting in the world but wants to build up both his arcane and physical power. He/she understands that the arcane is necessary in order to make a proper Death Knight ^_^.

Weapon bonus accuracy will not add on top of your spells. Using a shield with penalty will penalize your spells, though. Eldritch Aim will boost your spells and attacks. Sneaking in the case of early solo is used to get gear and xp, scout enemy positions and get to a quest objective without much fighting. There isn't any quest that can be completed in and by itself only by sneaking. You could go full range but it will require a lot of running. Eventually, and with little practice you will start isolating enemies like that or kill them in the fog of war without them attacking you. There are a few places where you could run around an obstacle and pelt the enemies one by one, which is funny. For most fights, personally, I think you're better off just scouting the area and looking for a spot where you can lead a large pack of enemies at once, so that fewer are attacking you at any one time, and just do the full range of AoE. If you have at least +2 move speed, nothing will catch up to you, allowing you to position well, or just run away if you don't like how it's going. Don't ignore scrolls. Simple Fan of Flames is awesome with Eldritch Aim, especially if you're herding. Slicken is nice, I think, but it may become more useful later on. You just need the damage now. You can choose to do sustained damage with a ranged weapon; it's safe alright, but rather slow. I like getting more at once... but that might not be to everyone's tastes. Also, at times you WILL have to use your ranged weapon to isolate something, so nothing is written in stone. Enjoy your run ^_^.

I'll add: Survival 3 for +1 movement makes a big difference. Gold Rot Chew for +1 move on top and nothing can touch you(even hobble doesn't hurt you). 2 in sneak for some extra stolen loot. 2-3 into mechanics for even more loot. If you just explore around with sneak you will find a fine war bow, plus a few other pieces of good gear. With that one war bow, though, you can potentially defeat everything without them touching you, albeit, very slow. What you can do is pull select mobs into other things to fight each other. Spiders and Stags fight each other. Trolls and Kith fight each other. Villagers and Xaurips fight each other. Arcane Veil makes everything easy. Eldrich Aim and Cancelhaut's Corrosive Siphon take care of all those packs of wild animals at once. You have an early paralyzing spell that doesn't affect you. That and the parasitic staff make any Kith easy. On a general note. Early game has a very interesting balance that accommodates solo play quite well, but you need to utilize the environment a lot. With one big caveat: be very careful with things paralyzing you... that little fellow at the broken bridge... such a weird design. Other than that, embrace your new position as Sir Rests-a-lot and leave the Temple of Eothas and Caed Nua for last.

Hello, This post is more than just reporting bugs, so I thought it is better suited under General Discussion. On the very least I find it funny. This first image shows how a monk teleports through a wall to get a base 3 constitution Hairy Orlan. His position was right at 12 o'clock from Pallegina. A few things you should notice to prove that I am speaking the truth. The monk engages Pallegina in melee and there is no disengagement attack from Pallegina to indicate that he changed his position to be more viable to do his teleport attack. Also, notice how his Flagellant Path affects only the Hairy Orlan and no other of the three characters that are in the obvious path that could have given them(possibly) field of vision to do such an attack. No, they teleported through the wall. Oddly enough, they teleported through the wall after the crackling bolt specifically bounced off in such an angle as to hit the Orlan(which I also find suspicious, but...). The next two images are - if nothing else - even more obvious. Namely: And, In the first screenshot you can see on the very top that the Hairy Orlan(tHO from now on) activates Call to slumber. Notice where the slider is in the text window. The High Abbot is affected and the next immediate status is Eder's with Prone. In the second image - again, notice where the slider is - we see that the Abbot is using his teleportation attack again, but he is affected by two statuses that should prevent him from doing that. I had a few other broken interactions in the Abbey of the Ondrites, but I didn't take any screenshots then, which I regret now. I remember that at a time tHO cast Minoletta's Concussives and did 2 hit, 2 graze, 1 miss, at which point he got 5 good missiles reflected back at him. I must say that the AI goes bananas at the sight of a 3 base Constitution Watcher. Once I had enough of these broken things I was using the most advanced and unfailing type of CC in the game--running past their team with tHO at +6 combat speed at which point half the baddies stop doing what they're doing and give chase like morons to a target they can never catch. They don't do that for anyone else but tHO at 3 base CON. I am sure this has nothing to do with the race :D. I've also seen a number of other small things that are still in the game and clearly need either a polish or a better description text. The White Marches even had typos in the new conversations they added--2nd part more than the first. Some of the expansion skills need to be looked at again. AI behaviour needs a few more lines of code so as not to be so easily exploitable. Pillars of Eternity deserves an Enhanced Edition. Do you think it's viable, kickstart-able or needed? To be fair with you, I haven't pledged for any kickstarted game so far. But for PoE:EE I'd pull my hands out of my pockets(and wallet). Also, Eder petted tHO by mistake once...
