Or those for whom having companions to take along with you on your adventures is a huge part of their enjoyment of the game and now they have one less of those companions to take along. Enough with the straw man of people being unhappy over things being different. Well is 7 party members better than 6? Where does it end? Yeah and 4 makes the combat "more fluid" than 5, and with 3 it's even better /sarcasm. Where does THAT end? I guess we could just have a solo game without party. -

I still hate it, and allways will. But it' ultimatly not a big deal, 5 is not far from 6, If it was 4 then I won't get the game. -

In before someone makes a meme youtube video impersonating One punch man as a bald monk in cape. -
Soulblade/Bleakwalker, because my first watcher was a melee cipher and I feel like bleak walkers fit some of his personality traits (brutal efficiency, results matter most) but he's not bloodthristy, and this combination fits the cipher playstyle I couldn't pull off in POE1. Also am mostly picking cipher abilities whenever I can, only getting flames of devotion, sworn enemy and passives from the paladin tree most likely and only when i have to spend points in that tree(power level gaining).

First impression on full ability tree

For a a first glance(that took more than an hour) I like most of them, But rangers and rogues got shafted with their 9 level active abilities IMO, rest of level 9 abilities seem pretty good and enough of a reason to not go multiclasse on everyone. -
Was watching CohhCarnage video about the classe trees. And I noticed the ranger companion takedown ability could be upgraded to make the next attack on the target deal 100% more damage, Would this for example make soul annahilation deal essentially double damage? Am asking because if that's the case I might multiclasse my soulblade into a Stalker instead of a bleak walker (I know the bleakwalker is still likely the more optimal choice but I like the stalker concept better and if it combines really well with my main classe then cool)

Sorry cause I can't help you with the build, but it seems that skills are used for dialogue much much more than stats in deadfire so keep that in mind. There is also no "dialogue "skill in the game, you just ahve to pick what fits with your character story/concept for example: diplomacy, Intimidation, street smart, religion, history etc...
-
note that while the scout in the video is melee oriented, there is no reason for you not to be ranged(just picka different ranger subclasse).

Is your favorite class still your favorite?
HAWmaro replied to KanyePest's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Well depends, am waiting for full game to judge wizards fairly. my second favorite classe are melee ciphers who were not that good in POE honestly, but in deadfire they seem much much better because of multiclassing and the fact that soulblade is a thing. -
It likely that the strongest weapons in the game will outclasse most summoned weapons by the end game, (except maybe if some summoned weapons are of the highest tier abilities) we won't know until we play the full game. There are also enemys taht have high armor against certain damage types or even immunities, this means using a single weapon type(let alone a single weapon, summoned or not) though the entire game is not optimal to say the least.

Just curious, can you link the build in question, might try it this week while waiting for launch.

Portraits II
HAWmaro replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Since they said they wanted to make POE2 more mdoable, I think it's a fair assumption that the companion portraits would be easily switcheable. We'll know for sure in a week, but either way I doubt it'll be too hard. -
Again my problem isn't with per encounter spells or injurys in particular(although I'll allways say that health/endurance is a much much much better system than those) the problem is that with the current way the system is balanced: it can be replaced with a free rest button like the IE games(without the random encounters) and have food be similar to POE1 and nothing would change about how you play with the system, because there is no ressource management whatsover involved with it. So if you're gonna have such a half-hearted system trying to please both traditionalists and people who blow 4 fire balls on a wolf and then complain, I'd rather not have a rest system at all. Also I don't want to come off as overly negative, because this system and the reduction of party size are my only annoyances with deadfire, and even with those am still expecting it to be my uncontested GOTY.

In the currrent beta, food is only consumed while you're sailing. If you're on foot, only daily wages are consumed. This is a recent change that I think they're sticking with. meh then there is no real reason not to rest after every fight with hardtack... and here I was starting to think the new system could work. Unless their Pay is a huge cost which I doubt honestly.
