  1. Wizards still get far more spells than any other class, just as soon as they pick up a couple of grimoires. I really hated how in PoE, wizards all ended up with identical spell lists, since they ended up knowing every spell.
  2. Whether or not fists are good, the lack of a proficiency modal for them will make some players feel bad, as if it's "not a real weapon choice". It also sucks that Devoted can't select fists, because a Devoted/Monk was was my first and favourite idea for the subclass.
  3. Honestly I think that problem is significantly more common in the new system than it was in PoE. Set the game to pause when weapons are ineffective and you'll realize just how bad it is. Literally the game is always paused and you're constantly digging through the combat log to see who's attacking something they shouldn't be. But the weapons still do some damage when ineffective, unless the critter has a complete immunity, right?
  4. There's a marker for latitude/longitude, or an equivalent. If this is the same lat/long system that we use on our planet, then this portion of the map, which iirc goes from something like 10 degrees north, to 30 degrees south. In the real world, that's very roughly going from the Panama Canal (9 north) to Buenos Aires (34 south). I have a faint hope that this is not supposed to be the case.
  5. It felt awful in the original game with the DR system when your weapons could penetrate the opponent's amor at all. I like that the new penetration system does away with that.
  6. There were 20 status effects in the original POE, and learning how they all worked was the key to handling higher difficulties. I'm 250 hours into the original, and I still get them wrong. Now, they're divided into six groups, and those groups already familiar to me because they're based on the six attributes of my characters. I find this a LOT less confusing.
  7. The per-encounter spells work, but more importantly, they feel great. There were some good design reasons for the per-rest spells, but I alway felt like crap whenever I played one, even if I knew I would rest after the fight. I initially wasn't to keen on losing the ability to scribe spells, but this makes finding new Grimoires a lot more cool. Btw, there's a really great Grimoire in the Dank Spore encounter, presumably from some wizard that it previously ate.
  8. I personally love the removal of universal talents. They made all the classes blend into one another like a soupy mass in PoE 1.
  9. Heh. This is a good idea to try after having worn out all of my first choices. I asked Josh what his fav multiclass combo is currently and (after going on at length about Ghost Lodge rangers) said he really liked Street fighter/Barb I think it was? Makes me wonder if carnage will synergize with it, but I forget what Street fighter does. So I feel like theory crafters will have their dreams fulfilled for years to come with builds. Streetfighter & Berserker (Barb subclass).
  10. Trickster & Priest multi class. It looks like you'll gain more than twice the abilities as a single class character.
  11. Will we be able to download the backer beta multiple times on different computers? I'm not sure how much longer my current rig will be able able to survive. If I can only download it once, should I wait until I get something more durable?
  12. What happens when penetration = amour? Currently missing from your summary.
  13. Thaos' motives can certainly be construed as altruistic. He wants to end religious warfare, for one. He wants to remove dangerous technology like animancy from people. How many animancers do we meet in the game who aren't crazy nut jobs? Our own world might be a lot safer if we were prevented from discovering nuclear fission. Iovara's a likeable person, but she's determined to undermine the authority of the gods, regardless of whether they have a positive impact on people's lives. She values being right over the welfare of others. I'm not sure she's altruistic at all. This is definitely the thing that was wrong with Iovara with me. Even if I do have an option to agree with her, I don't feel like like I'm really saying that if I don't have an option to say "you're full of baloney, you fool!" for contrast.
  14. Hey, twitch says that the stream is active, but the video won't load. Is anybody else having this problem?
  15. You're not the only one who finds watching twitch & similar irritating, regardless of how interesting the subject matter is.
  16. In the first game, we had 3 mechanics, Endurance, Health and Injuries, to track 2 things: how much damage until I drop in combat, and how much damage until I die. Now we have 2 mechanics, and they still measure those 2 things. It's basically the same system, but less messy.
  17. I think this is possible. This is possible in the game, as we both know, but according to Josh, not supposed to be possible. This is exactly what the person on the Tumblr post was asking. He says the gods will still "hold them accountable", which the gods don't if you gain the favour without the pledge.
  18. Durance was one of the people who created the Godhammer Bomb. The Godhammer Bomb was a bomb that not destroyed matter, but also souls. Tech that interacts with souls is animancy. We know that Magran approves of animancy. I can't be the only one who thinks that Durance practiced animancy before the Saint's War, and that his anger towards animancy comes from shame as much as anger.
  19. Extra onions? If the onions are raw, +5 to intimidation and a fearsome breath attack.
  20. Based on what? What?!?!? WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!? Edit: I have now seen what you were talking about.
  21. The endgame you import will import choices you made that affected the world. It doesn't import your character. It doesn't import your dispositions. Josh gave an example that you might meet in deadfire a minor character who popped up at your stronghold for a minor interaction, for example.
  22. this were confirmed? haven't been 'round much o' late, but am recalling how not long ago the fixed attributes o' a transferred character from poe to deadfire were a query rather than a given. would transfer work as does respec or could a player change class or race or background? just curious. HA! Good Fun! You can definitely change the class. You can definitely change the appearance, because the restructured graphics tech won't actually allow them to transfer appearances from the first game. We may be able to change race & background.
