Again, Rogue is a damage dealer. Ranger is a hybrid. Clearly Rogue will do a lot more damage. As for Fighter vs Paladin, my vote goes to Fighter. Intuitive stance provides hit-to-crit conversion. Cleaving Stance provides free attacks whenever you down an enemy. Clear Out is a cool aoe move. With Unbending you just don't die. Paladins provide more party support though. I see. I saw the Ranger update skills, and I thought 20 percent accuracy and 20 percent damage would change the melee DPS tiers, but then Deathblows alone give you 50 percent for the Rogue - which is almost like a perma crit (what is crit damage boost anyways? - 50 percent?). Would Barbarian/Rogue do more than Fighter/Rogue? But perhaps a bit squishy now?

From my experience, not really. 12% passive action speed buff party wide is a solid buff, but once you are topped you loose all the phrases generated after that, it's a terrible waste of ressources. What I like to do (I use Konstanten as a 1 handed Sasha's (no offhand) pure Skald, kind of what OP was initially planning) is to use an empowered 7 phrases summon (either Dragon or tier 2 instruments of death) that instantly refunds the 7 phrases (Sasha's passive), then cast Eld Nary. Then I let the phrases get back to 7 from chanting/crits, and as soon as it is topped I use a 2 phrases offensive cc invocation (Thunder Rolled, Killers Froze stiff or The Lover cried depending on ennemies defense/affliction resistance) or Hel-Hyraf if I need pen. I drop to 5 phrases, which very quickly regenerate to 7 (one chant+1 crit happens often in a matter of seconds) > repeat. This way you always give at least +10% passive action speed to the party, while providing a lot of hard CC able to target either will or reflexes. And no matter what you always have 5 phrases ready if you need an urgent Two Fingers of Daylight, or have the opportunity for an execute with Boil their Flesh (and sip from the marrow!). I had a lot of fun with this build That's a lot of micro-management! I auto-script every fight except boss fights or emergencies, so I was thinking of either 1) not scripting any invocations and just using Chanter for phrases or 2) just script 1 really high requirement invocation so that the Chanter keeps his speed buff for most of the fight

What are the highest single target melee DPS builds that still retain some survivability? (That is, I do not want pure glass cannons that dies every other encounter without extreme micro-management.) In particular, I wonder what would do more: Ranger/Paladin combination that leverages high crits from insane accuracy OR Rogue/Paladin combination that does the usual Sneak Attack and other roguish things.

How will anyone win this encounter then? A paladin/chanter can solo her. You have to keep her at distance (keep her spiders between you and her) and attack from distance with a scepter (it deals crush damage and penetrates her armor). Cadhu Scalth with the modal activated and the regeneration/armor take care of all the incoming damage. Maybe I'll make a video later with the encounter and the items/build used. PS. Killing spiders lowers her defenses but increases her offense (+1acc/+1dmg/+1spd for every spider killed) so killing too many of them isn't a good strategy. Ironically, it almost seems better to solo her then go in with a full party? I think a full party will aggro everything to you without extreme micro-management.

WTF, LOL! What level were you? I used Duskfall on my main throughout the game - with Modwyr - so it's end-game for me. Diplomatic solution Lvl 6 (Berath's Blessing). Hmm, I might try that. I can go with a diplomatic solution first and then come back at a later levels and kill both houses to get more cash and gear?

You finished PotD with Devoted/Paladin? Currently level 17, I should finish up this week. Devoted/Paladin has been a breeze, i can be completely surrounded and remain at full health. I haven't used healing potions since around level 12. Its very rare that I have to use LOH or my athletic heals. All in all, shes a machine I found Devoted/Paladin virtually invincible as well; but he was also in a party! I am running a Holy Slayer now to see if the DPS is a bit better.
