  1. Only a limited number of each were produced though. Sure, it looked good that demand outweighed (the very limited as I remember it) supply but I'm not sure how much of a market there really is for dinosaur bones era videogames. The big advantages to the minis though is that they had roms pre-installed right? How many gamers could get hold of the games they want to play on the polymega? I guess all the rights and defunct developers and publisher rule out offial roms of most games over the last few decades which is kind of sad but still, this type of thing has to be a very niche product.
  2. Thanks everyone, this is all incredibly helpful
  3. Total Warhammer & Total Warhammer 2 are some of the best stratergy games available at the moment both for the single player campaigns and multiplayer battles. Dead State was pretty good as a mixture of both but it starts to become a drag towards the end. Frozen Synapse was a brilliant stratergy and tactics game an there's a sequel in development.
  4. Hey guys, I’m sorry for writing another of these threads but I’m not sure how much of the usual advice would still be relevant to me. I’m 33, my background is in hospitality but I hate it, there’s no future in it for me and I want to do something else. Videogames have been my main hobby all of my life but I’m not a programmer, web designer, artist ect but I have a little bit of knowledge of how things work under the hood and in the industry. I’d like to get into the games industry, I know it’s very long hours, can often be boring, hard, stressful but games are my lifelong passion, I think it would be an industry where I could fit in, I think the high moments of seeing a game come together and getting to collaborate with coworkers on how to get things to work from combat to story to art ect would be something fulfilling and work that I would enjoy. I’m already used to working incredibly long hours and in a stressful environment. I’ve bought a couple of Udemy courses on game development in Unity & Unreal Engine, programming, web design, 3d art and animation in Blender. I can’t really do a course at a college or uni, it’s something I’ll need to learn in my free time. I’m thinking about making a module for NWN2 (or maybe NWN1 since the HD version was recently released but NWN2’s toolset is more advanced right?) as an easy way to start practicing area and level design, programming, writing plot structure, dialogues, balancing ect. I’m also planning to make a portfolio website I’m very aware that this is a long term thing and not something that will happen overnight, that it will take a lot of work and effort. Based on all of this, do you guys think I have any chance of actually making it into the industry or am I likely too old now? Do you think I’d have a realistic chance of getting hired by a UK game developer some day or are there too few with too high standards these days in this country? I wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to making something myself of finding a small likeminded team of new starts. Would you guys suggest trying for a QA tester position at some point or studying, making a bunch of things and trying for an artist or programmer position? I need a lot more knowledge than I currently have so any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.
  5. The Witcher 2 & 3 were action RPGs though and both were phenominal games without sacrificing story or characters. I get that it's a big change and may make the game 'something else' than a Final Fantasy game for purists but switching to an action title could still work really well.
  6. I never realised it before but there not being a duck with a crossbow in Xcom did leave a void that needed to be filled.
  7. edit: Whoops, recommendations! Witcher 3 Alpha Protocol Alien Isolation Bioshock series Borderlands 2 The Dead Space trilogy was fantastic, the third one is better if you can play start to finish with a friend. Resident Evil 7 (and 5 if you can rope a friend in for co-op) Shadow Warrior
  8. Witcher 3 Planescape Torment Deus Ex
  9. Nope, you can probably imagine what happened after that fairly accurately.
  10. There was an absolutely amazing and near professional quality Ravenloft mod for NWN2. http://www.moddb.com/mods/misery-stone
  11. Edit: Not the right place for this, sorry.
  12. Sharknado!
  13. I miss that game. They did a Source remake a while ago didn't they?
  14. How many years before they finally do Escape from Monkey Island I wonder?
  15. They really are remaking everything these days hu?
  16. Oh yeah! **** yeah! This is the 40k game I've been waiting for. Necromunda is, at least to me, the best game GW have ever put out. I hope it's fairly accurate to the tabletop game but I can see the setting working really well for other genres too. Also, Hasn't HL3 been confirmed for over a decade now?
  17. The new Outbreak mode is just amazing. It's the first thing I've played since Left 4 Dead to properly capture that same kind of joy and atmosphere. I hope it's the first of many similar DLC modes because this rocks and is like a game unto itself.

  19. I never played this one but I remember there was an old game called Lionheart released during that period when Baldur’s gate style games were still being made. It’s an alternative history medieval RPG with daemons and magic ect, might be worth a look.
  20. The plot picks up after a while but it's also going to end on a cliffhanger. I really enjoyed it though, it's a shame that's where the DLC and expansions for NWN2 ended.
