  1. Yeah, where did my post go? Anyway, I was just asking if anyone had any good tips for NWN2 OC mods, preferably ones that up the difficulty. I've only found the Tony K AI mod myself.
  2. So's mkreku. And me. So a majority of the Swedes in this thread prefers more difficult RPGs.
  3. I'm not sure this game is going to be as difficult as Morgoth thought at first. Gamestar (a european gaming mag) has a review and one of their complaints was that it was too easy. Haven't read the entire review, but a recap is posted here: http://www.larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.ph...6235#Post366235
  4. I tried a Warlock once. It was the most boring character to play ever AND the mechanics of the game works against it, so it's not even particularly fun to have in the party (unless you play with AI on, then I suppose it makes little difference). Warlocks are boring because there is little variety. Sure, you get to chose different effects, but you're pretty limited in scope. You'll basically just do your blast over and over again, and that's it. Since the blast needs you to be pure warlock, you don't multi-class, so you lose a lot of the fun character-building options NWN2 affords you. And then the engine issue. Since the warlock's blast is an activated ability, not a weapon attack, you need to manually assign every single blast. That's fine for wizards and their fireballs, but the eldritch blast is basically just a cool ranged attack, so it feels like a normal attack. Sure there is the possibility to stack attacks, but even so, it's easy to forget about the warlock and having the character stand there and do nothing. It's conceptually cool and has an ok power level, it's just so, so boring because there is basically no variety. My personal favorite is a rouge/fighter. With a level of Shadow Dancer thrown in for good measure (and Hide in Plain Sight). You get a character that's a decent fighter and can sneak attack once per turn (and thus do a lot of damage). You also get a lot of feats thanks to the fighter levels without losing too much in the way of skill points. You do lose out on some sneak attack damage though, but it's worth it for me. The Fighter/Weapon Master/Frenzied Berserker is also nice if you like pure melee.
  5. Considering that the Google OS is primarily targeting netbooks and the like, I wouldn't hold my breath for support for games and heavier applications. But for that market, it is very interesting.
  6. Now, this looks like a bigger project than I initially though. My knowledge in the world of php is limited, so I can't answer that question (if you were talking asp.NET on the other hand, I'm your man). Just a though, have you considered using a good CMS as the foundation for the site? it'll save you a lot of hassle (and will help with the database stuff). For PHP I've heard good things about Drupal, but my own experience with it isn't stellar (but again, PHP is not my thing, so that's a big reason why). On the asp.NET side, I can recommend umbraco, which is a fantastic piece of software. I'm in love with it.
  7. I haven't tested it, but from a quick glance this should be exactly what you're looking for: http://www.httrack.com/
  8. I have some flash experience, but it's been a while. The programming part is fairly simple (depending on what you need to do of course) and if you're experienced with googling for programming solutions it shouldn't be a problem at all. Flash is very fun to work with.
  9. 2010 could mean late 2010. So that'd mean about another 18 months. Plus it could well be a couple of months into development by now. Could even be more than a couple of months, depending on how they worked. So it could be as much as 18-24 months in the dev cycle. That should be enough. It could of course be as little as 8-10 months as well, which of course is dramatically short.
  10. It's a completely different sorting mechanism. It will fetch different data and process it differently. No, it's not extremely complex, but it's still work that needs to be done. And someone needs to pay for that work. And it could be that the extra day or two something like that would take to implement is what causes development to go over budger. Not many players (that I'm aware of) supports both folder sorting and sorting by meta data.
  11. Of course, more options are usually better. Also means a more expensive product. Just saying if the choice is either or, it's not the wrong path to go by meta data (nor is it the wrong way to go by folders either)
  12. My mp3 collections has fairly decent meta data. Sorting by artist or album usually works just fine. Sorting by things like genre or year is another thing entirely, of course. So meta data sorting works fine for me, better than folders even. So customer needs aren't exactly that clear cut.
  13. No support for custom playlists either?
  14. Yeah, there is a slower levelling mod. I used it after level 8 and it's reduces the rate by a lot.
  15. I just find the reasoning that Spider-Man isn't a guy who would get divorced, so we'll have to separate them some other way is completely moronic. I haven't read an Amazing Spider-Man issue since, after 22 years of loyalty (well I tried a couple of issues, but just got pissed, so I gave up on it).
  16. Yes, in the same way the PSOne and PS2 have lasted for ten years. The last five as budget alternatives to the newer shinier console.
  17. It's just that Paladins, Rangers and Warriormonks are basically fighters, while Bards and Clerics are essentially wizards. I'm not saying variation is a bad thing, but there is nothing hindering such variation in games outside of the fantasy genre. How many classes were there in Mass Effect again?
  18. Oh come on, why using a Mac? Still way too expensive compared with a PC that has the same power. Good point. I had forgotten that Macs are generally expensive. I've never actually owned one. However, replace Mac with Linux and you're point is still valid.
  19. Depends on the mob. Hitting one of the faster ones can be more difficult than hitting on of the geths who basically just stood still or ran straight towards you. But player skill includes more than just clicking on the screen. It's also about timing (taking the healing potion before you die, getting your attacks in when defenses are down etc). Besides, even if we only go by aiming, ME had auto-aim. So you as a player didn't need to aim at all.
  20. The training videos on http://www.asp.net/ are pretty good and a good point to get started. And I think the fora there are also decent. I say think because I've never had any of my questions answered, but I have found a lot of other answers there through the magic of google. (and to be fair, the questions I have asked have been pretty damned complex) Can't help more than that, since I know nothing of VB.
  21. Still, if you have a .NET site, C# is a much stronger choice than VB. So with no prior knowledge, I'd go with C#. If you do have prior experience with VB, I suppose it makes sense to start there, but if you only remember minor detail, jumping in directly with C# is what I'd recommend.
  22. Mass Effect? Edit: Although EA published the PC port, MS did the Xbox version, so I guess I was wrong with that.
  23. From what I gather a 32-bit system still uses 4 GB, it just reserves 0.5 of them for system resources etc. So 4GB in a 32-bit system is not a waste, but more certainly is.
  24. Also, what is the additional costs to port, promote and distribute to other platforms? Just because Mac gamers are more likely to buy a game, it doesn't mean enough of them will to justify those costs. (but maybe they will, I have no idea)
