Well, i could understand some limitiation lorewise, but the main problem imho is that the companions are so few that you should have the most freedom possible on their management, since going with sideckicks or player made npcs will gimp your overall game experience... And especially on subclasses i dont see why they should limit it on companions since that could make sense on paladins and priest only I cant' agree on that. The fact, that our companions have their own subclasses is a thing that makes them worth taking with you on the adventure. And changing them over one playthrough or few of those. I've always liked the fact, that Sagani had her own animal companion, and Hiravias was able to spiritshift into a stelgaer. That was the thing that made them unique to me. And the same goes with specific subclasses for companions in the Deadfire. So yeah, that limitation is really usefull and good for the gaming experience. And as Mannock said: "The pain of restriction enriches the overall gaming experience. Please realize that and let it sink in." :3

But why are you people seeing a problem in here? I mean - if you want to have a team full of characters which are be able to multiclass to whatever you want, please do a team full of NPCs made by player. But you will lose the whole roleplaying part with party banters and relations. If you want the latest more than the possibility to multiclass companions to whataver you want, just accept the fact, that by their lore they are able to multiclass in some particular ways. That's all. I think that this is a really nice form of showing that each companions has his/hers unique way to be created throughout the game. Well at least that's just my opinion on this part.

Our Real Perception of Naval Battles
Nanawatzin replied to theBalthazar's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I guess it won't be possible for now... as far as I remember, the goal with sea monsters wasn't reach during the campaign - *insert very sad face* - which is really sad, especially 'cause in PoE you were able to find a book about sea creatures living in Archipelago and when they announced the game to take place in that region I was like "Yassss qween! My sweet sea monsters are going to be real!". But yeah... I have to be satisfied with Tekehu. :D (which is not bad at all)- 14 replies

These are the largest cover images we’ve seen floating about the internets. PC Gamer https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/zEkLQ3a7ZAhCSh2mAJGLrW.jpg Gamestar http://9images.cgames.de/images/gamestar/211/gamestar-0318-abo_6022968.jpg The Gamestar one in particular is 2520x3564 of awesome. From Josh: “that art was done by german artist jana schirmer.” It's interesting that on the PC Gamer's cover is Aloth, Pallegina, Maia, and Serafen. And on the Gamestar's cover is Xoti, Tekehu and Eder. :D

I've always considered multiclassing as a fun option which may broaden the possibilities. Deadfire creates even better way to use it by letting us to make our companions different with each run. For my first and most important playthrough I will be going with: PC male pale elf - Itinerant (Ranger/Priest (probably Ghost Heart/Priest of Wael)) Edér - Swashbuckler (Fighter/Rogue) Aloth - pure Wizard Pallegina - pure Paladin or maybe Herald (Paladin/Chanter) - can't decide yet Tekēhu - pure Druid or Theurge (Druid/Chanter) also can't decide but I'm more willing to make him a pure Druid

Hah... In my second wt I wanted to have Devil to be my only rogue in a team, so I waited for her. Till that, Aloth was my "rogue" and I've put a lot of points to the mechanics on him. He was pretty good with that. Also I think that... And also... As for Pallegina - I like to think that her Chanter part is due to her godlike (Hylea) heritage. ^^' Still in my game both Aloth and Pallegina will be single classed wizard and paladin. Still can't decide if I want Tekēhu to became a druid or druid/chanter. :v

Hmmm that's interesting. I rarely play as a white dude. And I play a lot of female protagonists i my cRPG walkthroughs. I can admit that dwarves are not my favourite fantasy face, but I don't mind them. And also I play as priests a lot of time. My current PC in Baldur's Gate: EE is a priest/ranger. And I'm planning on playing a ranger/priest in Deadire. ^^'

Baby on Board

What? No way. I'm a feudal *Godlike* lord (who may be on the market for a new fiefdom, but still). I need a god damn heir. And I'm just a merchant from the White That Wends aaaaaaand my plan is to get married with a godlike so yeah, we still need a child. And I would never ever give this sweet orlan baby to anyone else. It'zzzzzz mine. :3 -
Well I guessed that the summoning of the animal spirit will cost bond points. I chose this one subclass mostly for the fluff. It would play nicely with the whole concept of my OC. And I'm not the one who's playing cRPGs just to have the most powerfull character who will deal tons and tons of dmg (if I wanted that I would probably play some MMO). I thank you for your answer, it was enlightening. And I can see why you think the Ghost Heart is not a perk in this combo - you're looking at this char from the mechanical point of view and I thank you for that, 'cause I would never know that. At least not until I play the game on my own. Mostly I want make na ranger/priest combo, 'cause for my completionist wt and for my main OC I'm planning to have a team of: my OC ranger/priest, Edér fighter/rogue (dunno which combo of subclasses will be better for him), Aloth pure wizard without any school if possible, Pallegina pure paladin and Tekēhu as a druid (probably shapeshifter) - dunno if multiclassing him with chanter will be usefull. Any thoughts on that? I mean not on the companions but on their class combos I've put here. :3

Yeah, I'm also wondering if using this code will disable achievements. I guess we don't have any confirmation on that, yet? And also as was said above - I guess that the code for the doge will be the same as for the birb.
