The Sound / The Voices / The Music
That was Benezia, Liara's mommy. And no, Linda Blair wasn't Kreia.

What are you playing now?
I haven't played enough yet. The 2D art is lovely, the music is awesome, and it's been so very long since I enjoyed a side scrolling platformer. I just solved world 2 ( the first level). I was feeling like an idiot because I couldn't see any possible way to get those extra puzzle pieces so it was terribly satisfying when I finally did.

Obesity may save a life!
The problem with prison is that you are being removed from one society and placed into another that's even worse. I suppose the solution is to change the way the prison system works. Changed how exactly and how feasible that might be I don't know. Especially when public support is behind the current system, ie it's okay to rape certain prisoners etc.

Grand Theft Auto blamed again
You're right that none of the games instruct you how to make them. Might as well claim the game taught you how to shoot.

Thailand bans Grand Theft Auto IV
Man, what a load of horse ****. A ridiculous conspiracy theory that doesn't even make any sense. Lies, plain and simple. Did crime not exist before the GTA series? This is a load of nonsense. How does belonging to a gang have any bearing on what computer or video games you might play, or even if you play them at all? Stupid stereotyping. That gang you mentioned before, it was made up of poor black kids, right? I have a hard time imagining middle class white kids forming gangs and committing crimes. It's not the goal of GTA either. Or Hitman. Or Assassin's Creed. All 4 of these games do however allow you to kill innocent civilians, if that's what floats your boat.

Thailand bans Grand Theft Auto IV
The target audience for GTA includes a lot of stupid immature kids whose parents don't care what they do with their time. You don't see to understand what "target audience" is. Pedophiles may well watch Lolita, but they aren't the target audience.

Thailand bans Grand Theft Auto IV
So someone who plays Call of Duty 4 is more likely to be effected* then someone who plays Doom 3? What about Hitman versus Assassin's Creed? And where do you draw the line between fantasy world and real world? Both Saint's Row and GTA IV are set in fictional cities in a modern day world, though the former game takes itself far less seriously and the city of the latter more closely resembles the city it is based on. Is killing an innocent bystander in GTA or Hitman really any different to doing the same thing in Deus Ex, simply because DX is set in a future sci-fi world? What exactly is the target audience for these two games, and why are they more or less likely to emulate the actions of characters in the game world? * By that I mean they are more likely to emulate what they see in the game.

Obesity may save a life!
If I say the death penalty is vengeance then so is life in prison, if I say life in prison is punishment then so is the death penalty? Are you actually going somewhere with this, or is it just an attempt at playing devil's advocate? Anyway, my objection to the death penalty is due to corruption, error and the fact that legal system is a game where the better players can face lesser punishments regardless of guilt. You can free an innocent person from prison, but you can't bring them back from the dead. Is this a common problem? Do lifers in prison routinely kill guards and other inmates?

I'm not sure the game portrays murder as "fun and socially acceptable." In Deus Ex you can murder everyone in the Ton and you just get lectured by your superior. At least in GTA you have cops after you.

Soul Calibur IV. Finding the balance between power and lookin' stylish.

Okay, what is putting a murderer in prison if not vengeance? The punishment for breaking the laws of society.

Good Old Games
Indeed. Much as I loved Midwinter II back in the day it doesn't really hold up anymore. Going back to older games I've loved there is always a shock due to how old they look, but eventually I just forget about it. The same isn't true of older games I've never played before, so there is obviously a nostalgia factor there. It depends more on the particular game than how old it is, early 3D stuff (like Midwinter II) can be pretty bad.

Your Top 10 Favorite Games of All Time
A Sierra fan I see. I was more of a Lucasfilm fan. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis The Secret of Monkey Island: Lechuck's Revenge The Secret of Monkey Island Gabriel Knight 1: Sins of the Father Labyrinth* * Mostly nostalgia. My first ever adventure game. And now that I'm all nostalgic, I also must mention the Amiga game Elf. It's combination of adventure game and platformer was the greatest thing ever, or at least I thought it was at the time.

Obesity may save a life!
No of course it wouldn't. One less person in the world doesn't make it a better place. It might feel better, but the feeling is temporary and it isn't true anyway.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW EXCLUSIVE FALLOUT 3 TRAILER
I know the initial Half-Life 2 video with Kleiner commenting on your knocking stuff around was presented as an example of the AI in the game, but it was actually scripted, being an example of what they were aiming for. I have no reason to believe the Oblivion video was scripted. I mean it featured a woman setting fire to her dog. If they were going to lie about it they would have set up something less stupid. You mean like the way Obsidian shows the same "entering the embassy" and "dealing with the arms dealer" sequences? This is business as usual. It's like when actors do the rounds on talk shows promoting their latest movie and the same clip gets shown over and over. You don't put together different promotional packages for everyone you talk to. If you show every journo a new example, you're giving too much of the game away. If you just load the game up at any random point you risk showing off something that isn't particularly interesting, or perhaps something you don't want to be revealed before players experience it themselves. And of course there's the problem of "RPG elements" meaning different things to different people. They've shown the stats screen after all, that's enough! Besides, this is the type of stuff that isn't easily shown off in a brief promotional video. How do you show in a video that there are no longer traits and you get a perk at every level? A whole lot easier to talk about it, which they do.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW EXCLUSIVE FALLOUT 3 TRAILER
It wasn't fake. It's pretty common knowledge that the so-called "radiant" ai was toned down to stop to stop stupid **** like people setting fire to their dogs or killing their neighbour for a shovel form happening. From the developers point of view the ai was a big deal because it was a huge step up from their previous games, but for the gamer it really doesn't offer much that they couldn't get from scripted routines. Except maybe feeding people poison apples. AI that isn't nearly as impressive as it sounds into unique to Bethesda. In fact it's the norm. What "blockout"? There are numerous previews and interviews, and now hands on such as the one Moatilliatta linked to. Information doesn't count unless it's in videos or screenshots? Is Obsidian "blocking out" gamers because they've haven't released screenshots or video of RPG elements, despite the fact that they've discussed them in interviews and shown them to journalists, just like Bethesda? Of course that comparison isn't entirely fair, as Obs has plenty of time to release RPG footage (whatever that entails), while F3 is almost ready for release. But then I never claimed that Todd Howard was anything but a ****ty salesman, but Bethesda isn't doing anything unique or unusual in how they are are promoting the game.

Obesity may save a life!
And how is that justice for his victims who are dead? Um, isn't the fact that he's in prison justice, or do you really mean vengeance? That feeling that the world is a better place because a bad guy is dead?

BREAKING NEWS: NEW EXCLUSIVE FALLOUT 3 TRAILER
It isn't comparisons that are the issue, it's pointing out differences to prove that F3 "isn't Fallout" while ignoring similarities.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW EXCLUSIVE FALLOUT 3 TRAILER
We aren't having a private conversation, this is a public forum. We (anyone in this thread) are talking about the third (fifth) game in a series, so other games in the series are relevant. We haven't seen any shots at night, do you also assume that it'll always be day in the game? Have we we even seen any shots of female characters? Obviously Fallout 3 is going to be goofy humor and exploding bodies and nuclear explosions and days without nights and a world of only men. You're free to make whatever assumption you like, but that doesn't stop those assumptions being far sillier than any teddy bear gun. Of course they are relevant, this game is part of a serious. Before you said "I focused on it, bceucase Pete Hines focused on it." If it's not important why even bring it up? Is it really necessary to discuss every single thing that Pete Hines ever says about the game? Using your own logic we shouldn't even assume that there are many beards in the game, after all they weren't shown in the video, we haven't seen them with our own eyes. Why talk about Hines mentioning beards when you can talk about Hines discussing your actions having consequences? Anyone with basic comprehension skills can tell you that not everything in a conversation should be given equal weight. For example I could mention now that I like pie and I'd like to think I'd be right in assuming you won't think that my liking pie is the focus of this post. Then again maybe me and Pete are giving people too much credit. Or maybe folks just like to pick bits out of interviews and previews that appear to validate their own views.
