  1. My ending claimed that I somehow saw Maia and Xoti together often, with Xoti staying in Neketaka and Maia going back to Rauatai. So I now have a headcanon that the VTC managed to master proper teleportation, and we can all jump all over the world whenever we want Are the ending slides bugged? My last ending had the Huana get more divided than ever but Tekehu united them more than ever at the same time o.O
  2. I just wanna stay in the Deadfire ya know. I even say in the game "my home is the open road" (don't get why you can always pick you are from Deadfire, even when you aren't). I wanna rescue imps and sing sea shanties, not go back to wherever I came from initially or fall into a hole trying to rebuild caed nua ... again.
  3. Why does your Watcher go sailing away from the Deadfire in the ending slides then, huh? I DON'T KNOW??! xD
  4. Da2 is a lot worse if you hate that kind of thing ... but yeah. My watchers don't want to go "home" at all. They want to stay in the Deadfire. xD
  5. I like your perspective. I also enjoy games where the so called hero can't actually change anything, like in DA2, but Deadfire didn't do it for me in regard to the main story (there are plenty of things I like a lot though). I can't help but feel like it's just randomly added to the game to make the Watcher being in the Deadfire make some kind of sense. Another problem that I have with it is that although people on forums will speculate, they were trying to reach a broader audience, and most people aren't going to think about it, they'll just go wtf. Also, heroes in lots of games don't really feel entitled or omnipotent to me, they tend to feel more like tools or victims of circumstance. DAO you are just some person who gets propelled into a harrowing duty due to some crappy events and a buddy who doesn't want to make decisions; also you are gonna die horribly sooner or later due to being infected with the taint. DA2, no matter what you do, **** hits the fan in the same way. DAI you are in the wrong place at the wrong time and become a victim of someone much more powerful's plans, you are no more than a pawn in their game and your power is ultimately theirs to take. The Witcher is just some dude who's been altered to be a monster killing machine and lost his memory fumbling around trying to sort his crap out and getting sucked into whatnot in the process. I'd also argue that Ciri is the real protagonist of that series. The Watcher in POE1 is some person who gets drawn into some massive conspiracy while trying to liberate themself from a condition they never wanted etc.
  6. Positve: they will romance you (where applicable) and react pleasantly in convos. Negative, they react as such in convos onClick. Other than that, idt so. Which is probably good since they like/dislike you/each other mostly for daft crap. I would say it's no small matter either - the system as it is right now basically defines your relationship with the companions and (allegedly) how the companions interact with one another. In a game that places so much emphasis on storytelling and worldbuilding and so on, our relationship with our party is pretty crucial regardless of whether there's any practical consequence for it, for the sheer effect and emotional response we get out of it all. Yeah if you care about it, it controls your gameplay (I think that's what you meant). If you don't care about it, or on a technical level, I don't think it does anything though.

  8. My favourite watcher does that too. He jokes and pranks around to evade the inner abyss and because he doesn't like to be branded some kind of hero/special or be the center of attention unless it's because he's the buffoon. It's something I'd expect a character like Aloth to "get", but apparently whoever wrote him is of a different opinion. :| My current one just drowns it all out with booze instead as then at least he can get in Mister Nosesigh's pants :'(
  9. I was desperate to kick Maia out my first pt, and am really struggling this time (trying to go for RDC ending). She's one of those rare characters I get a total bee in my bonnet about and cannot abide. xD Damn. BG1 & 2 have been sitting on my puter for a while waiting for me to get over the feeling of dread the buggy interface and the fact I had to both google how to complete and died in the tutorial gives me. xD
  10. Yeah I noticed that too (the thing with the parents).
  11. Is Aloth pro RDC if he's pro Leaden Key? He said something to that effect in my current pt, yet I recall him saying he doesn't trust them in my other games.
  12. Same. I genuinely dislike people who are full of themselves in general, but with Tek I found it endearing/funny more than obnoxious.
  13. I don't have a problem with characters leaving *as long as it makes compelling narrative sense*. Unfortunately in most scenarios it doesn't and just makes them look like idiots. In DAO, for instance, a game that allows for a massive grey area in your character, and where practically everyone can turn on you, the only one that makes sense for a non-evil character is Zevran, as his only reason to stay is for the Warden's friendship. For most of the others leaving comes across as gross irrespsonsibilty, even if the main character is evil. In Deadfire I'd personally also like the opportunity to kick some people out if they cannot take a hint and leave of their own devices.
  14. Also one of my fav games of all time, highlights being (not in this order): Tekehu Tekehu being immune to the slog effect Possiblity to resolve things in multiple ways, often allowing you to avoid combat Being able to act like a shifty / manipulative git / bossy grumpus to resolve convos Colourful, jolly setting as opposed to the usual glum the end is nigh atmosphere Corpse eating Multi-classing Different cultures having different ways to express themselves (accents, wording, actual words etc) Imps Talking pets/sword Being able to recruit a motley crew for the ship Weapons with unique effects No inventory limit Not having to traipse to x place to craft (ik these 2 are unrealistic, but so are the loading screens) Random ambient banter Being able to joke a lot Rekke Eothas is kinda sexy Edited to add: DRUNK POSE I love this lol And more I can't think of off the top of my head of a morning when it's hot af. in spite of having various flaws, which are: Maia (not a flaw, I know xD ) a bit too buggy - hopefully will be resolved for the most part the approval system in its current state, will go down as worst approval system of any rpg I've played if it stays as is (no consequences good or bad for most things, judgements made on a banal, superficial basis, etc) not really a fan of the treatment of characters from POE1 having to suffer the same ocean events over and over loading screens the fact my last character experienced tons of events in Neketaka but my current and first one didn't get any grimoire system was better in 1 Main story is meh and feels randomly thrown in for good measure NPC's being so stupid as to walk into pitched battles and guards only reacting to said battles when NPC's were thusly dim And probably a few others I can't think of for the same reason I mentioned above. However, I'd say a lot of the cons fall or could fall into the bug category.
  15. This was my last pt. I was playing my canon Watcher who I wanted to be with Aloth, but nope, Aloth wasn't going there. Apparently male moongodlike aren't his cuppa. (Aloth: I fink u freaky and I don't like it a lot). I had to cheat with the console (but only had the last quest group left to do). The convo didn't trigger until I was in the palace after Magran's Teeth, which also meant I had to throw myself at him in front of all and sundry, but whatever xD That playthrough half of his personal quest didn't trigger either, so I only got to do the end bit of it, which was really weird (I did the places involved in the right order). Anyway, the playthrough was ruined either way since I'd compromised the character's personality to please Mister Nosesigh and cheating made me feel like he was forcing himself on Aloth. (Shimmer: U fink I'm freaky but I'm a cipher so you'll like me a lot). Talking of, has anyone noticed people in Deadfire seem to exclusively sigh through their noses? I'd say his romance is definitely worth doing if you like him, but you should try to trigger it asap, as most of it is ambient comments. ASAP either by cheating or playing the kind of (imo dull) character Aloth exclusively actually likes. You probably did not butter Tekehu up in his pick-up conversation or weren't flippant enough on Port Maje. I hit -1 right after getting Tekehu and -2 after inn+brothel. The poor lad is sooo buggy even now. I actually gained rep in the brothel while talking to his 'old friend', and he completely ignored me while I boffed every employee in the place! I made a point of hiring all their services, because I was curious to see if I could tick him off... nope... though I still haven't gained more than a couple of teeny bits of rep with him naturally, and he's still best buddies with Serafen, and Eder. He does seem to be liking xoti less and less though. Maybe she's too... happy for him? LOL. How weird that some people lose rep in the brothel and you gained it. I've never managed to get + or - there. I'm pretty sure he'll like Xoti again in 2 min, all she has to do is prattle about her god /soul reaping and he'll be spewing approval like nobody's business. Yesterday he was doing that for me with Maia to the point I felt a bit sick. In that one scene in Port Maje where you meet up with the assassin that's being spied on, my character gave in to a rare moment of prankery (not really keen on playing Maia's tool after knowing what happens), and he even approved when she came out with one of her bossy lines telling me to behave. Frost was not amused. On the upside, I got the first ever comment from him that actually seemed to indicate morality as opposed to brainless dis/approval of superfical bs in Tikawara. Sadly it wasn't something you can get approval for though. I'm really conflicted about this. I still love Aloth, but at the same time I can't stand / am bored / annoyed by the companions he likes and having them around makes me start rolling my eyes as much as he does, while carting the ones he hates (and I happen to like) around makes me despair at his own compulsive He seems much happier when romanced and I love the stuff he says, but idk if I can inflict the misery surrounding it on any more of my characters in future xD Also on the bug front, my first character got the +2 convo with Aloth in spite of only being at +1 with him. *shrug* And I think I might do another pt of POE1 after this as I'm starting to question my sanity. xD
  16. Huh. I never got that line. My bad then. I dunno, I think he should have been a bit more eye-rolling about her antics, regardless. He considered my stoic character irresponsible for cracking wise. It's a weird system.Edit: Cell phone posting is a treat. Never again. Seems a bit weird that Aloth would hardcore suck up to Xoti just cos of that one thing, which like most things he admires, he only actually somewhat admires, yet fail to spot any redeeming features in Serafen or Tekehu, who have plenty. I also wonder why Xoti collecting souls is so amazing to him but the Watcher doing it isn't worth mentioning.
  17. I think in some cases it's more about players grouping companions together with simialr likes/dislikes, so it's easier for the player to get approval with them.
  18. Not how I remember it (and I replayed it many many many times trying to like it ever since release. My most recent playthrough was within last year, finally beating all expansions). I could spend the dreadful hour or two, talking to companions in the camp and gettin 10+ reputation with each conversation. Figuring out what they want to hear was easy, as the writing wasn’t exactly subtle. There were reactions when adventuring but they were for most part insignificant (i dislike helpin people: minus 1-3 Morrigan points). There were some major ones, but they were... extreme choices, I would have never picked outside “I want to see how it plays out). Anyway, going through the right, private, conversation paths and doing their personal quests were enough to keep everyone 80+. Well, except the elf assassin guy. But I kept killing him outright after my first play through. Edit: oh and I fed the dwarf with alcohol so I don’t have to talk to him. I don't want to digress into a meandering off-topic DAO debate here, but you can bribe all of them for positive rep, not only the dwarf, and I don't remember ever getting +10 per conversation (I've also played it this year, 4 times). That might happen once per character if you romance them/did their quest. Also, I can come up with perfectly valid arguments for almost all the rep. dump choices the game provides. You can kill Wynne before you even get to recruit her just by saying "perhaps you are right" to Morrigan and she'll go off on one and attack you, for instance. Of course you can reload/pick strategic responses, but my point is that they react to a ton of stuff outside of personal convos. Suffice to say you don't like it while I thought it was somewhat better than the Deadfire system.
  19. I don't know for sure as I've only done stuff like that to a limited degree, but for the most part they react to what you say, not what you do, and when they do react to what you do, if they like jokes, you can easily joke them out of it afterwards. For instance, my first character had cruel half full and aggressive totally full, and Aloth liked him more than my second one, who had 0 points in cruel and aggressive only 1/4 full, with Aloth being in the party all the time for both characters. A Bleak Walker I tried got to -1 with Eder and back to 0 in a really short time just by cracking jokes.
  20. I think you mean that troll you find in fire, not Nemnok.
