Mass Effect
surveying minerals and gasses gives you cash and xp that scales with your level. If you haven't done any of the main quests yet you're probably low level and not getting much. Just keep collecting stuff and selling it.

Vital questions about Mass Effect
There's no real difference between the male and female sex scenes, as far as I'm aware. I've seen 2 of the 3.

Jade Empire
Speaking of Jade Empire, word is that the EA big cheese is a huge fan, so if Bioware has the desire to make a sequel EA may very well be sweet on it.

Mass Effect
OMG GEY. It seemed to me as if Kaidan was written with heterosexuality in mind, or that the writers didn't feel bisexuality fit the character. And given that none of the other male party members are even remotely human-looking, the gay thing became impractical. Also, it's been announced that there will be another book written in the setting that will serve as a ligament between the first and second games.

Mass Effect
All the achievements in the game provide tangible benefits for later playthroughs. The obvious example being kill 150 creatures with a shotgun = any character can use the shotgun. The ally benefits vary. The only one I know (through a friend) is Garrus. If you get Garrus' achievement the cooldown time on all tech powers is reduced by 10%.

Bethesda will win, and a new age of denial and bitterness will arise.- The Witcher Revisited
Are you saying that Christopher Lambert actually has a good voice? Have you even seen The Highlander?- Volournian Early ME Impressions
http://www.sendspace.com/file/xe6na6- Tying 4E FR Changes to Computer CRPGs
They don't make interesting RPGs. I prefer my fantastical elements to be more or less treated as mundane within a setting, I can't really immerse myself otherwise, and fairy tales generally rely on the sense of wonder that comes from what's out of the ordinary. I'm not 12 years old anymore.- Tying 4E FR Changes to Computer CRPGs
I can't play any D&D setting that still exists (Planescape and Ravenloft don't count) outside of the FR. I've played X many games in it and X many PNP campaigns and I know it better than any other setting, and I don't care about other settings. At all. Dragonlance and Greyhawk are dreadfully boring, and every time a new setting is introduced it sucks worse because they have to rely on even more cliches to sketch out the detail of the setting and keep it from being off-puttingly unfamiliar. Have you tried playing a PNP campaign with a DM who makes his own setting? It's like a fairy tale being made up on the spot. It's painful. I suppose part of the reason I like the FR so much is that it lacks any of that "fairy tale" quaintness.- I might be getting a new laptop
I'd have to get one with Vista, since I'd prefer a dual-core processor, and dual-cores come with Vista, as far as I've seen.- I might be getting a new laptop
Hmmm, I heard through the grapevine that Dells aren't the most long-lasting computers. But I could be wrong.- I might be getting a new laptop

HEY HOMOS WHY DO WE HAVE THREE THREADS ON THIS ONE ISSUE. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE. GEEZ.- Um... Crysis.
Well, it appears Crysis might be the VtM:B of today. Didn't see that one coming. It's a blow-****-up game, how hard is that to sell? But they went overboard with the graphix, I guess.- Your favorite game
- Bioshock: Here there be spoilers
Not really, because thematically, the gameplay is completely disjointed from the rest of the game. And as it is a GAME, I'd say that's a pretty huge dent in its thematic armour. The gameplay has little to do with it. This seems to be the game that everybody wants to say is a case for the form's legitimacy as art. And as long as games have to be fun to be appreciated, they can't really be art. There are plenty of great, deeply artistic films and texts that aren't remotely fun (nobody demands that Wild Strawberries have more explosions and car chases). And that's what I mean when I say that it's a thematic work. That it's not fun doesn't matter. It's up there with Fallout and PS:T even when it isn't (hell, it's much funner than PS:T), because it's merit isn't in its gameplay but in the deconstruction of the form and the themes it presents.- 2008 is gonna be a lame year for games.
- Bioshock: Here there be spoilers
If anything, Bioshock is an unassailable thematic work. The mechanics just happen to be weak.- The Witcher Revisited
I remember the Deus Ex demo that consisted of everything up until Hong Kong. I was a bit pissed, since if they were going to include half the damn game why not include the rest? But it got me to buy the game outright, so I suppose it was unusually successful.- The Music Thread
