  1. I never warmed to any of the D&D worlds other than the FR, mostly on the merits of BG. As an addendum to my earlier statements, I would be satisfied with some reference to BG in NWN2, just so I can know that they're not remote from one another. D&D doesn't benefit from Star Wars' looooong timelines. And spoiler warnings would be nice, btw.
  2. That would be nice, but I'd also like to see BG3 made. My familiarity with the FR hasn't bred contempt for it. They aren't mutually exclusive desires.
  3. Your position is too conservative. (1)The first story has ended thus (2)there should be no more stories.
  4. Cut the conservatism, folks. Should we have stuck the fork in Star Wars after the first trilogy? The second trilogy was certainly ****, but KOTOR would also have been "unnecessary" by those terms. I agree that the Bhaalspawn saga is over and done with, that much should be obvious. But even if several games take place within the FR, they all might as well take place in different universes, as things like NWN and BG aren't connected much beyond the geographic backdrop of Faerun. And I wouldn't even expect those two franchises to touch each other, seeing how they tell different stories. I loved BG, I loved the feel of it, not in its look but in the relatively nuanced way it presented its world in comparison to other trite fantasy games. It was a long, deep kind of game. Even with the Bhaalspawn epic over, the death of BG means the death of that kind of game, because I've certainly never seen an equal in any games thus far (hopefully that can change with NWN2, but I doubt it) I loved the BG world, which dipped liberally into the established and deep history of the FR but wasn't a slave to it. I loved the characters, who I would kill to see again in another game. But that's the thing. The epic's over, but that doesn't mean it's exhausted its potential. BG might as well have never existed in any another FR game. That's what sequels are for. I'm not convinced it should be dead. The closure of a storyline is no reason to retire it. I'd want for something like a Fallout 2, which figures the original game's story and setting prominently, but whose main focus is entirely different.
  5. ****in A I say. Have they not nailed the coffin shut on BG over at Bioware? Is it possible they might restart the third game? I would go mental if that happened.
  6. patch v3.1 released. I know how much you ladies loooove that stuff, eh?
  7. Fire! Most of the blatant advertising I've seen in EA games (and man, there's a lot) seems to have been for other EA games, namely the sports ones. Then again, I haven't played any of their recent titles.
  8. I reckon I do :\ I'm not big into this stuff. I probably should have gotten a better vid card than a 6600.
  9. Primal Scream - Trainspotting The Black Keys - Just a Little Heat Queens of the Stone Age - No One Knows
  10. I'll probably run it modestly well, certainly nothing to write home about I've got the RAM, but my processor and vid card barely pass.
  11. Not only does it have the guy from Nip/Tuck, but also the guy from the Shield. It's FX madness. I'm going to go see the Last King of Scotland here soon, whenever I can make the time to go down to the Mayan in Denver.
  12. Muslim lady lost in court.
  13. Don't **** on the board. Both art and medicine have their value, but medicine has the kind of utility art doesn't even come close to. I'd rather have a polio vaccine than a Beatles record. Alexander Fleming is a hero and a savior of millions, Toby Jones wrote some funny sketches. But the implication that he deserves cancer is your retarded, simple logic, not mine. If we're lucky, somebody more important than he is will cure his cancer, and then everybody will be happy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> sarcasm dude, sarcasm. and the thing is, you cant choose. i'm pretty damn happy for monty python, they've given me a lot of good moments. and what does terry jones's achievements in comedy have anything to do with other peoples achievements in medicine/philosophy/anything else? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WELL I'm sorry about that. I need an exclamation point, or bold / italics, or something. I've run into more outlandish logic out there. Honestly, I'm not even sure how it got to this point. I must have started the whole thing with meta.

  15. When have goths not been dramatic?
  16. I'd argue the importance of Terry Jones over anybody in this board. I'd also argue the importance of Frank Zappa over medicine as well, but why don't i see the latest biology nobel prize winner as your avatar? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're right my avatar disproves my conclusion lol
  17. Oh, British TV. Yeah, over my head. To be fair, none of the Python-ites, even Gilliam or Cleese, can be said to have sterling careers.
  18. Is there something good I'm supposed to be seeing here other than Monty Python? And I'll be seriously disappointed in this board if anybody seriously argues for the importance of sketch comedy over medicine.
  19. What MCA seemed to be getting at was pretty reasonable. Take the two Capote movies. They obviously aren't exactly the same, but since they share many of the same aspects, they are endlessly compared. Any post-apoc IP Obsidian creates will be compared over and over and over to Fallout, and unless they've got the hubris to believe they can top it (I don't think they're that reckless) they're going to shy away from it, because the new IP will be the Infamous to FO's Capote, which is to say, the lesser of the two, to too many people to make it stand up on its own merits out there on the market. It's inescapable. Hope that analogy made some sense.
  20. I always
  21. Except Terry Jones might have contributed more to society than just raising a child to adulthood. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He... told jokes?
  22. Mostly in its anachronistic plot structure and MPOVs. RD seems to be a hodgepodge of The Killing and City on Fire. But as Tarantino says, great artists don't homage, they steal.
  23. What?? Why?! Where did he say that? :'( <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some interview concerning Fallout following Beth's acquisition of the rights to the IP. He said something to the effect of not wanting to "tread water" with his game ideas, by which he was implying that making any kind of spiritual successor to FO was something he was not willing to do.
  24. I challenge your conclusion. The game is not over.
