Going through the Van Buren design docs, I found some remarkable similarities to KOTOR2 :ph34r: nothing overt, but a lot of the same ideas (for example, the restoration effort on Telos is not unlike the Nursery in VB)

Depends on how they balanced the game. Seems to me like most of the classes in NWN were "de-edged" so as to not make them reasonably equal (arcane spellcasters remained weak at early levels, still) but I remember LN monk-druids being pretty potent. The animal companions got less powerful as time went on. Their AC didn't go up fast enough, such that high level enemies could easily whack them before they became useful <_< Shapechanging could be pretty uber, though.

So are we going to be able to have a gay love affair in NWN2? That'd be pretty progressive, at least relative to most game romances out there.

The Hotel escape in Call of Chtulu was what made me give up on that game. It wasn't scary, just unbelievably frustrating. It's my werewolf... :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heh. Call of Cthulu is basically a FP adventure game. There's usually only one way to go about beating a certain challenge. The trick is figuring out what the trick is But I gave up when I got to the Shoggoth. God, that was hard. By that time the game had devolved into an exceptionally difficult shooter, but it had its moments (particularly in the sewer levels) I think you all are just trying to be macho about DOOM. When I was 8 years old, the Pinky really was freaky :D that roar it made when you were in its vicinity was pretty harrowing in Sound Blaster. I didn't find Resident Evil to be especially scary, but the remake for the Gamecube was amazing. If you didn't scramble to find a lighter and gas to burn the zombie corpses in time, they'd come back to life as 28 Days Later-esque superzombies when you approached them. That was pretty harrowing. They also added this indestructible, shackled, hooded monster-lady that was pretty creepy, especially when you figured out exactly who she was. That drawing from Vampire was pretty ****ed up, I must say.

And is there some reason why this face/hair issue can't be resolved through the community / additional patches? Somebody's bound to at least attempt it, and plenty of people are going to succeed. If the gripe is that the engine itself makes everybody ugly, most of the people in Oblivion were pretty ass-faced. You get over these things, else you're just fussy

Depends on what school of abnormal psych you're listening to. Evolutionary psych shirks it off as a natural impulse to spread one's seed. Psychoanalysis identifies it as some reaction to past trauma that one is unable to deal with healthily. Most other accounts paint it as having to do with the desire for domination and control (psychoanalysts might deem rapists as having reverted into the anal stage of development to an extreme degree) That's the one that makes the most sense to me. But you're touching on something interesting, there. If rape is indeed about control and domination, or a need to hurt, this clinical finding doesn't make a lot of sense. This doesn't suggest that exposure to resistance play porn or S/M porn reduces the likelihood of rape, just the access to porn in general. But I wouldn't conclude that rape is a crime of lust, because that's a very slippery slope. If rape is a crime perpetrated out of a desire for the victim, then it stands to reason that the victim could have prevented the rape by becoming less desirable. That's a case for enforced burka-wearing if there ever was one.
