  1. I really like Shrek 2, more then the first one actually. It was a bit more commercial, but I thought it was a whole lot more funny. There were some scenes that just had me rolling.
  2. I thought you typoed, and meant Clark as in Wesley. Now I know you mean Richard.
  3. Why do you say this?
  4. I think geeks haunt every aspect of industy as well. Heck, I even work with some people that wear those really thick glasses like the people in the Apollo 13 movie. B)
  5. I amazed how some peoples fortran subroutines even work. Not sure about COBOL, but there are many incarnations of FORTRAN, such as FORTRAN IV, FORTRAN 77, fortran 90 and fortran 95. Its an ugly language, and I learned it fairly quickly, it was very popular among science and engineering types, and I feel sorry for anyone who one day has to read it.
  6. What about option 3, making war game simulations... or option 4 making real flight, or tank simulators for real pilots and military personell. or option 5 righting the onboard software for tomohawk guidance system. or option 6 making the latest CG software for the latest CG film. or doing software for special effects in non-CG movies. And I have probably only touched on 0.1% of everything outsided a business firm. Try not to make it sound so dry... I hate to break it to you, but video game programmers come close to human right violations. Long hours, so so pay, despite what Feargus says. I talked with an ex_BIS employee who mentions many programmers leave for a brighter future. I am into games, but just playing them. Making them seems way too stressful. Sorry, I think all you young'ns need to know there is a bright future for you, even if you you don't get into the gaming industry. BTW, why doesn't anyone want to be a designer?
  7. I am 28 and I make considerably more then your max, although slightly less then double your min. Althouth, I am not technically a programmer, its just what I do. I also work for a company that contracts with the government. Technically I am a physicist, but many physicist are adept programmers. Anyhow good luck with whatever you choose to do. BTW, if you don't work in the game industry, don't worry there are a lot of really fun jobs out there.
  8. Both of your sigs are lameosity.
  9. Depends on the University. Caltech is famous for this, but highly selective. Heck there is probably more physics faculty at Caltech then undergraduate students. The other extreme would probably be the UC's. The lower division classes can often have 200-300 people enrolled, but upperdivision, at least for majors like physics and math will have a less then what you described at Digipen. I think it is pretty much the norm to see much smaller class sizes as you begin taking upperdivision classes. Mainly because half the university is majoring in liberal arts and Psychology (sp?).
  10. Wow a class on quaternions. The most I have done on Quaternions was the little that they were dealt with in tensor analysis and the section in Goldstein, Classical Mechanics. What is Digipen? Is it just for games, beause wavelets is a signal processing filter. And what do you mean by curves and surfaces, Multivariable Calculus, topology, contour mapping? Finally what is graph theory, I might be interested in the subject because I do a lot involving graphs and OpenGL?
  11. I would also like to point out that we have unprecedented power in space and air too.
  12. This is an alternate history thread. If the conflict started by the assination does not escalate into a full world war, it would have just been the 3rd balkan wars. Many historians suggest that WW1 started as the third balkan wars.
  13. Agreed, the ultimatum was uncompliable because Austrians had the guarantee of the Germans that they were locked. As MC points out this puts the cards in Russias hand, do they balk, or do they fight. Again the Russians were not ready then, but the Germans felt that they would be ready soon and better hit now then later. So what started as the third balkan wars turned into WW1 when Russia mobilized. IMO, WW1 would have happened no matter what. The Brittish did everything they could to divert the war, but it would not happen. Furthermore, while Germany was building a Navy to contend with the Brittish fleet, had they known that the Brittish were to unconditionally join the entente, then that would have delayed things. @MC, as far as the medieval land with the monarchy, the ottomans were worse... But I guess thats not either here nor there.
  14. What happened to the Sears towers?
  15. Calculus and Linear Algebra are a piece of cake. Lie Algebra, Complex Analysis and Topology, now that is the good stuff.
  16. I understand Gromnir, but I really have a hard time understanding Sarge. Volkrn eis teh ddue tat need sa trbnslatr!
  17. This maybe the case. However, it was Russia's mobilization, which set WW1 wheels in motion. Aside from the 3rd Balkan wars that is.
  18. Would you believe me if I said you were 100% right? Its hard to know what would be more obscure to a more educated person.
  19. The V2 would have had nukes in it and Brittain would have issued an unconditional surrender.
  20. I think it was the Russian ambition that started the war. The assination led to the Third Balkan wars, however, it was the mobilization of the Russian miliatary and alliance with France that led to the First World war. So why did Russian ambition start th war if Germany was the first to act, because they were so friggin paranoid that Russia at some point was going to invade the eastern portions of the German Empire, that they thought it would be better to attack now then later. Yeah, and Germany was pretty ambitious, but no more so then the other imperial powers. Like those that started the Boer War.
  21. 1) Kara Mustafa does not wait for Vienna to surrender, in order to keep all the spoils, and instead assaults Vienna and takes the favourable position before the poles can even mobilize. 2) If Hitler does not declare war on Russia, or the United States, and no longer treats Italy as a soveriegn entity. 3) If the United States never reckognized the Zionist State formed in Palestine. 4) If only the Persian, (or was it the arab, not important) Caliph left that little mongol caravan be on its way. 5) If the Byzantines never asked the pope for help against the turks. 6) If Richard did not sodomize Phillip. 7) If the Spaniards never expelled the Jews. If Hannibal never took Scipeos Africanus bait and instead sacked Rome. 9) If Constantine picks another cult.
  22. I object to your use of liberal. The media is not liberal controlled, if so I would be able to tolerate it. And the only people I know complaining about the Passion of Christ was Jews. There are just as many religous liberals and conservatives.
