  1. Hahaha! Oh god. I remember playing PoE1 and thinking: "it's great. Just like BG minus permanent level sucking, and rock-paper-scisors pre-buff counters". Pathfinder be like: "**** youuuuu. Permanent attribute damage for first quest combat encounter. Prepare pre-buffs for every encounters. Which ones you ask? Didn't you memorize rulebook? Though it's been the first encounter I used dispell magic on. It was a must have in BGs, and I really didin't feel a need for it until now. I also wish the game would make it clearer when enemies are buffed. In BG there was a clear visual indication. In Pathfinder: you can't hit this person, you are not high level enough. You can see their stats because you are not high level enough. We wont' show you what buffs she has becouse you are not high level enough. Enjoy our splendid tactical combat. Here, she has +30 wisdom modifier. Defend against dat scrub.
  2. I killed the Fallen Priestess! I don’t know what happened, I think maybe one of dispels thrown by Jubilost and Tristan actually hit and Amari smashed her to bits in two hits. No casulities. Well, not until Tristran walked into the Rift of Ruin like a little **** he is. Luckily his body didn’t disappear in the pit, which I am pretty sure that happened before. Lvl up as a reward. You get blind fight and you get blind fight. Everyone gets blind fight.
  3. I have been playing Outer Wilds recently and it’s outstanding. Exploration puzzle space game?
  4. You know what? Good for them. They had rocky time with previous games and this will give them a decent amount of cash. I am fine with waiting a year. I still need to finish DLCs of H2 anyway.
  5. I can’t say I remember crafting being there. You could upgrade weapons, to keep them relevant, but I don’t remember crafting anything.
  6. Avowed might not be the most evocative title, but most likely makes sense, and is far from being terrible.
  7. 47 solving murder mystery? I suppose he doesn't like competition. Those games are so riddiculus and I love it!
  8. Suspiciously amazing looking action game from Chinese indie developer. I don't believe it's a real gameplay. It's just looks too good.
  9. I say, if the only reason to return to town is to do chores then there is no reason to force players to go back to town. PoE2 and BG2 have players go in and out of central town while having limiteless or almost limitless storage, and they achieve it by being well designed.
  10. I do! Sometimes...
  11. Well, to me the most interesting part of an RPG is creating a character and having him interact with the world around him - that goes for his capabilities but his world views. I used to “recreate myself” in games as some sort of power fantasy but I couldn’t enjoy Obsidian games until I started to roleplay, at least a bit. That “roleplay as character who isn’t you” became the defining point of an RPG - no matter of we can create a character or its to some extend pre-defined.
  12. Did a quick go to the turn based mode (by that I attempted multiple times to beat Fallen Priestess without her permanently killing one of the teammates). I like the UI and information but couple things I don't like: 1) Camera widly swinging from character to character - there is something off about it, which makes things more confusing to me, then helpful. 2) Did they really just erase an ability to smoothly zoom in and out? Unless some of my mods break stuff, now it's only close or near zoom. Not a biggie as I managed to adjust but annoying nonetheless. 3) as space is now used to accelerate/end turns I see no way of pausing the game which is unfortunate. I wanted to stop the game from going, to analyse spells being cast and stats, before the log gets filled by 6 inconsequencial enemy actions. Good: 1) Turn based system is really clearly communicated. They seemed to even impliment fullaction spells, which I don't think were in the mod. 2) I like the little roll indicator above a character - it decreses the need to dive into the log all the time.
  13. I would say it depends what role-play the game offers. I am sure there is a compelling game that could be designed around crafting items/weapons. But if the game is about, lets say adventuring and exploring, sitting in workshop and having a home, seem to be oppositve to the idea. I don't think anyone would mind an interesting crafting system, but most of the time they add nothing of worth, just potentially result in more generic and boring item design and some grind. Same with inventory. I like inventory if it serves purpose. In Bethesda games, Witcher or Kingmaker, however, it doesn't. It is a system for system sake, with nothing interesting to interact with. Same with player home/keep. Then of course you have stuff like BG2 which seems to be often cited as an example of an RPG with crafting, inventory and player keep, while really not having any of those. The first one is used only to assamble limited set of items, has an unlimited stash in form of containers and keeps have very little content and use. Also those were really well implimented crafting, inventory and keep systems, as they didn't stop players from having fun, while being satisfying by their very existance. If you think that the only thing that seperates a good RPG from dumb slasher is inventory system, then you must have only played Bethesda RPGs. You are missing the good stuff.
  14. GOG is for HARDCORE GAMERS! Joking aside stuff like that is something I wish Gog would improve upon.
  15. To cancel a preorder, go to the link below: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?form=orders Then, fill the fields (e-mail address, subject, description), select "preorder cancellation" as the Problem type, submit it and you'll just have to wait till GOG Support gets back at you.
  16. Hey, the patch is out. Whole 12GB of download.
  17. I don't know what you have written but Grounded subforum is here: https://forums.obsidian.net/forum/142-grounded/
  18. Yeah, Oblivion and Deus Ex tried to gamify persuasion and honestly I didn't think it worked in either. It's fun to interact with NPC if they feel believable, and such minigames go very much against it. Now thinking of it - I don't like those minigames in general. I would rather have no lockpicking, then bad lockpicking. I will take Deus Ex1 hacking over Deus Ex:HR hacking - while simpler DE1 had at least resource management weight to it. The best gamification of persuasion I have seen so far is in Griftlands. It's not per say great but it holds up as abstract representation of an argument. At the same time, it's half of Griftlands total gameplay. And I also wouldn't want to play mini Gwent when trying to talk to someone (or maybe I would? Gwent was fun).
  19. It should be out in two days? Together with console release I think. Hopefully it won’t break my other mods.
  20. Now I feel even more irritated. I glanced at BF description online and there is nothing about it. Honestly, if every skill description came with listed counteres it would make life much easier (as well as search button for inventory). As those type of enemies seem to appear constantly I might pick it up on next lvl up. Unfortunately I missed Ekun. I explored the area before Troll Troubles triggered when clearing the way to the ambush at the start of chapter 2. Didn't stop the 2nd time on my way south.
  21. Yeah, she rarely leaves my party. Great tip about blind fighting... I haven't thought of that. Though in that particular fight, sister didn't blind my characters - just such out attributes on failed save throw.
  22. Well, I kinda did. The problem is, that in general I don' find the game too difficult. And I generally like to engage with combat. After initial difficult wall, as game throws permanent ATT drain, I thought I had things under control enough to complete it all on "challenging". I didn't find story too engaging, outside of individual sequences everyonce in a while, and considering how combat heavy the game is I really don't see a point of playing it for anything other then combat. It's very IcewindDale'y in that regard. So yeah, this is kinda where I run into problems, as I ended up with only a Priest in my party and no other spellcaster. Valerie as main tank, Amiri for smacking people, and my PC, ranger (because Deadfire fooled me into thinking rangers can be fun). Harrim, and then sidequests leftover Nok-Nok, Kalikke. That's clearly not great, but other quests were so easy up to this point, and enemies I enocuntered on my path we so disposable, I made a mistake of pushing through it before swapping companions (I really like -2 to strength Nok Nok makes with every hit, and I have been working on Kalikke to continue.... ekhm... with the other branch of her romance so to speak. My character is a Tiefling too, so... you know. Triple Tiefling sandwitch). Bless, then prayer once battle starts. I tried the unbreakable heart in case it would have an effect on sister's "stare" but I didn't notice an improvement so skipped it. Had plenty of potion so buffed stats - DEX and CON for characters who will get in melee range with driad - one for extra AC if possible and other for Fort save against her touch effect. also STR, WIS and DEX for attack/spell attack. Also attacks boost spells for my ranger (there is one which increases chances to hit, and another for sneak attack). Greater Dispel to make driad as hittable as possible. I tried other stuff like bane, but I never managed to land it. In later attempt, as the goal was to land as many "bad touches" as possible I focused on that after greater dispel. Whatever protections potions/scrolls I had (blur, dispacement, aid, shield of faith), though as driad casts couple dispells I don't think those survive until I can secure safety of Tristian. Thinking now, I probably should have saved them and drink them during engagemenet - after driad casts her dispells. Then one res in case I need it (priest was the one to fall anyway once he started to touch the driad with negative energy spells), and true strike to combo with slay living for immediate decent/great damage. As priest was the most reliable source of damage once her defences were dispelledhe was stacked with negative energy spells. I tried death ward but it didn't work on her attack. I greatly felt the last of slow and haste, but what can you do.
  23. I agree. And that's why I backed WotR. I have somewhat a soft spot for the game, even if sometimes I want to tear my hair out (if I had any left that is). I sunk 123h as of writing. I think there is plenty of good in it to justify asking price, but I am not so sure if it has been worth the time investment. There is a bit too much space between moments when I am having fun. Anyway. I ended up tinkering with the difficulty option as "challenging" difficulty was boosting enemy stats even further. With that brought down, I actually had a chance to land a hit and with a lot of touching from Harrim she died. Restoring all my companions sucked out all my remaigning funds . Sorry villages, you shall have to remain barren for a wee bit longer. Next step - DLC dungeon to resture some of the funds. Lesson learned - never compromise on party composition in order to trigger continuation of your tiefling's romance.
