  1. That will do nicely as well, but I am more interested in fried cheese anyway. EDIT. Damn, now I am hungry. Supper time I suppose.
  2. Feed me full of smažený sýr and Kozel and I might be willing to concur.
  3. No, Poland is the centre of the world. But yeah, I meant west, past the big water. USoA EDIT. Of course, quality has a final say really. Sergio Leone films don't reflect values of american genres that it uses (be it Westerns of Gangster films) but due to their quality they provide a unique, critical take from an italian film maker.
  4. Yeah, my mention of CDPR doesn't really make sense. Originally, my comment was a bit long-winded and I mentioned that I feel some polish games touch western subjects but do it with foreign mentality. That's were Cyperpunk comment came from, not awkward edgyness.
  5. No argument here. "Hatred" anyone? I feel there is this tendency to make an edgy game in the most embarassing way possible. That's kinda why I am worried about Cyberpunk... Witcher's strength was that it was a very Polish licence. Making a more western game - they might ring false. miss the mark, whatever you want to call. I didn't like what I have seen so far.
  6. Mostly refering to things like names were changed to be intuitively convey what author wanted to convey. Poetry modified to still somewhat sound good and convey the meaning. That kind of stuff - that wasn't Shrek kind of translation, where jokes are completely different. Tolkien uses language in very specific way and that's something that can't be ignored nor easily translated. In PoE specifically names could be problematic (Dyrwood has a meaning and will take some thinking to properly translate, or most likely find fitting substitute). Also different races speak in different manners. How will one translate Huana's speach pattern? Those are things that need to be taken into account and 1) Indeed require context which translator might/might not have 2) will take time to think through and review, and I doubt deadlines were generous. And I think that if such details are lost PoEs loose a lot of it's charm. Perhaps that is a reason why I didn't like Obsidian games until I lived for couple years in English speaking country and became more fluent with the language.
  7. Hey, Poland gave you CDPR. Other studios need to balance it out.
  8. In factions questlines you will have plenty space to explore what are strength and weaknesses of each faction and decide which one will appeal most to your character. I agree that Valian seems like a possible fit for your rogue. There are also different subfactions WITHIN each faction, so you can fine tune your character choice even further.
  9. I am also afraid that PoE aren’t the easiest to translate. It’s use of language is unusually sophisticated for a video game. For Tolkien it took 2 tries to translate it properly into Polish, and honestly the strength of 2nd translation is making changes to the source material. I have been wondering for a long time, if Bioware basic and simple language was fully intentional for world-wide appeal.
  10. There is nothing about systems of Avowed, but it makes perfect sense - one doesn’t need to create assets that would nicely fit on our character! Imagine how many armors we can have if we don’t need to see it animated
  11. I like Far Cry 3 though. It's definitly Ubisoft-the-game, but I thought it was one of the best versions - even Towers were fairly enjoyable, and side activities are reasonably paced. For the first island. The game lost me, when the fun villain kicks the dirt, get replaced by a boring dude in a suit, and we get to do everything once again. Also, unlike AssCreed you actually control the character.
  12. I don't know. I had more fun watching and rewatching this trailer then playing Skyrim for 30 hours (God 30? I don't rember anything of note happening) I worry that if Avowed will take place after PoE2, that will mean most likely end of PoE... though maybe, with enough interest in Avowed, PoE will get some love and people will realize how great the series are.... Meh. Whatever will be, will be. The future's not ours to see. Que Sera Sera As "prequels" go, KOTOR turned out rather well.
  13. I would take Wizardry8 Pillars game over Skyrim Pillars. But beggars can't be choosers.
  14. What looks worse? We haven’t even seen Avowed and most likely won’t see it for quite some time.
  15. Does any one know if Cain/Boyarsky work on the DLCs for OW? If not it is possible they moved to work on the sequel. Skyrim team was about 100 people as well, from what I can tell. I think you can compare production value of CDPR and BG3 to get the answer. Compare Witcher3 tech to Bethesda, as well as amount of handcrafted touches - from content to animations. What does however ring false to me the most from the leak mentioned ealier, is robust mod support for Avowed... Bethesda can do that because they have custom engine built for that purpose - at a cost of other things. However, as UE is used both for Outer Worlds and Avowed.... if there is some tech similarity between two games, they might built foundation for future titles as well.
  16. I played through it on launch via Game Pass. DLCs will be a good excuse for a replay and to actually buy it.
  17. I don't quite buy it, but it would be a good choice as a setting. It definitely not how I imagined Living Lands, but looking at some descriptions it actually might be right.
  18. That’s not really a point I was making...
  19. PoE2 god aspect that we see are reflection of Deadfire culture, with local gods adapted for the "real Gods" purposes (as we learn from SSS). So it's all depends on what Aedyr(?) culture is like. The statue does suggest a more western-like representation with kith-like images of gods, rather then a worship of nature. Of course, assuming it is indeed a statue of a god, and not some local worship or a Lord or a war hero. However, we can get a balanced mix. Some gods are weird no matter how you do them - even in humanoid form in PoE1 Wael shifty nature was rather bizzare. I think if you do Wael and not make it trippy you are missing the point. Personally, I liked wordy descriptions in PoE1 to be more effective then paintings in PoE2.
  20. Oh yeah, Ubisoft had a lot of ugly spilling out in the last couple weeks.
  21. So do I, but we are in danger of running into StarWars problem. If EVERYTHING revolves around Skywalker and Palpatine the potentially big and rich universe becomes very, very small. I want my PoE3 with all the soul'y and sociopolitical glory - Yehuza and their singular god is what I am more curious about after PoE2 - but I think it would be for the best for the IP as the whole if Avowed was something different. Let's see Eora from a point of view of a bloke, who doesn't get to chat with Gods on regular basis. In PoE1 lore and metaphysics were in service of the story, while in PoE2 I felt the story was in service of lore and metaphysics. Shame as there are some real gold nuggets in there.
  22. I think one would need very Planescape-like meta narrative to make it work, or a Bioshock-style late game twist. Why would all the things happen to one soul only? I also feel it would be good for Eora as the setting to move away from awakened souls, adra, gods and watchers for a while. There must be more to life in Eora then metaphysics.
  23. PoE as the world interests me due to its themes and central conflict. I am generally not a lore, if it doesn't "mean" anything. As such Avowed doesn't interest me becuase of its ties to PoE, though I am glad the IP is not completely abandoned. As the IP is seperated from Pillars, I don't expect it to be directly tied to it, and therefore I am not automatically interested in its story. It's also not lead by Josh, so I don't necessaty expect it to have the same feel and focus as PoE1&2. Though the main point would be, that if in unlikely case PoE3 would be made in the future, I don't think Avowed would be a mandatory part of the story. Unless, of course, they wrap up what could be Watcher's storyline in Avowed - I would be heartbroken about it as all my hopes would be brutally crushed. But it is Obsidian's big RPG, and I like Obsidian games. I am even keeping an eye on Grounded, even though it really doesn't took like my cup of tea. Luckly for me I am also capable of liking FP-RPGs - F:NV is still the best Obsidian game IMO. I definitely wouldn't stop playing a series I enjoy, becase it gets a spinoff I don't want to play - I mean I played a bit of Fallout2 recently, and Bethesdas Fallouts are garbage.
  24. Website clearly states First Person RPG, and trailers suggests the same, I am afraid. huh? That’s not Pillars of Eternity game. For all we know it might have little to nothing to do with PoE storyline, and might take place in a different time all together.
