Interesting, thanks for pointing out that error. Turns out the code doesn't do what I thought it would with big pictures like this, namely keep aspect ratio. The easiest solution, at least for the time being, is to remove the max-height limit. Not sure we should keep those pictures there for classes anyway, as it gives more of an impression of a NPC page. Maybe better to stick some examples of druids etc in a gallery or something. -

I suspected it might have been on the big side, so I have scaled it down a bit. Have made the background a little darker as well. Do you guys think the background image fits? The thinking was that it sort of connects both games, with what little we know so far about the opening of POE2. -
Surprisingly little cover and discussion about this (unless I missed it somewhere?), but I hope people fill it out and offer them a torrent of wishes of proper expansions, like White March, instead of 200 bitsized cashgrabs. You can check out the news item and fill out the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OEIDLCSurvey1

Heh, I have just fixed that. It looked pretty bad :D The colours should mesh up better now (although the redlink is hard to spot, but then there shouldn't really be any of those in those navbars anyway..) Added a logo to the mainpage too, but in due time I'd like to redesign that page. Think it would become a cluttered mess when more stuff gets added about Pillars II. Can't have hundreds of links there. Working on some other things, but I'm thinking about something like the system they have on the Witcher wiki. Think it could be a good fit. Sometimes I wish real life was like in Pillars of Eternity, where a good night's rest will fix everything. Broke my foot roughly a month ago, and a night's rest was sadly not enough. (Since I took that picture, some text has been changed to white) -

Thanks Boeroer. It's a bit tricky to test when my phone is ancient and doesn't even take the new skin for some reason, it uses the old one, but I can try to do something about it. Maybe the picture is too dominating or something. I've made a change to the Deity page too. It may look a little out of sorts, but probably better than the old version (but I didn't want a totally white and square background). These icons simply don't look great on black/dark background due to the colour composition. It was the same with a bunch of tiny icons on the old light wiki, but thankfully they came out much better on the dark look. For instance here: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Spiders -

Very happy to hear you like the design. I've put in a silly amount of work into the wiki by now, including lots of trial and error when re-designing it, so kind words are definitely appreciated Totally agree the deity images don't look good on dark/black background. It's taken a while since I've been busy with other tasks, but have played around with something today, which I hope turns out okay. Have just redone one Deity page so far: Eothas. A picture of the icon with a gradient background. -

What is the problem with the mobile skin? Unfortunately I can't really test it much myself, because my mobilephone was made when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth. From what the staff said, however, the old mobile skin was pretty terrible, so I've made an attempt to remake it. It looked okay from what I managed to test, but I've not been able to play around with it on my own phone. I hear what you are saying about the background image, but I tried to make it so it wouldn't interfere too much, while also giving the wiki a more unique and lively look. -
Unfortunately it may not be that easy to insert pictures in the actual game, at least for this use. Could be you would have to include them in the packages of the game, which means fiddling with them with some program. Maybe Unity Studio would do, or Unity Assets Bundle Extractor. Hopefully it's easier than that, but I mention it just in case you need programs of this kind. Sure would be nice if the game was better set up for mods, but it is what it is.

Project Eternity: Wiki
PangaeaACDC replied to Tigranes's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The Wiki has been redesigned to a darker look (the game is dark, so it made sense). There is a background image now, which should give the wiki a more unique look, and connect it better to the game. Most things should look good now, but I know there are issues with some of the infoboxes (those containers with information to the right of most pages). I've made changes to the mobile skin too, as the other was... a little lacking in content. For some reason it doesn't show up my phone, but it's pretty ancient so many it's just an issue on my end. The big challenge is that a good deal of the content is outdated or missing, and populating thousands of pages isn't exactly a one-man job (I have an actual job after all), so if people want to help out, by all means do More long-term I'd like to change all the infoboxes so they look more like the creature one (an example here) and migrate the whole site to use an extension called Cargo, which will enable us to cross-reference content more easily (the "Other variants" in the link is an example of just that). It's a rather big task though, so will take time. Particularly the various item pages (And there are LOADS of those) are fairly complex, so I'm hesitant to start digging too deeply there (an other editor has basically done it all). And naturally we need to get more information about Pillars II with time as well. We'll know more once the game is actually out, or at least in public beta phase. I'd like to redesign the frontpage too, so if you have suggestions for how to go about that, don't be shy One thing I'd like to introduce is something called Tabber, so people can flip information between Pillars and Deadfire, similar to on the Witcher Wiki. That will enable us to have more information on the front page, while structuring it better than currently. There are probably too many links and such right now too. Would probbly be better with less of a link dump, and have the more important things there instead. Anyway, I hope people like the new changes. -
Separate Stash?
PangaeaACDC replied to PlumpNDump's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Don't know if this is different on the Xbox, but think even on the PC version there is an option to make it bottomless. So maybe you can do that on the Xbox too? If not, maybe they had to limit it for RAM reasons or something. Shrug. Suffering from the RPG-bug of "collect EVERYTHING", it can get pretty crowded in there :D -
Exp bug?
PangaeaACDC replied to DemonLordLuBu's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Or put another way, to not punish players who don't want to 'farm' monsters for two weeks straight for a few levels up here and there. Combined, you still get a pretty big chunk of XP from killing monsters / filling up the bestiary, but you also get loads from finishing quests (and there is plenty of XP in the game anyhow). -
[3.05] (probably 3.06 too) Incorrect Journal entries
PangaeaACDC replied to PangaeaACDC's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
I've not systematically kept track of this, but there are quite a few. Another batch of examples is for Skuldraks. They list the description for Skuldrs, but the game files contain a different one. Should have done a better job with these to be honest, and also had unique descriptions for all creatures. They tend to use the same description for the same 'family' of creatures. Oh, the same issue with Bog Bats btw. They have their unique description, but the game uses the one for Skuldrs. -

And since we're on a ship, how about some fish-slapping? -
Admittedly I am a little torn about it, as I like to explore everything when playing a game, taking my sweet time doing so, however it could be a good idea with genuinely different paths through the game. Maybe even paths that lock you out of other parts of the game (available for later playthroughs), like how it was done in Witcher 2. To the thread itself, I agree with the OP. I have a bad habit of sometimes looking up stuff when struggling, and tend to regret it afterwards. Also agree it's best to wait a few patches before playing the game. Games usually aren't released in the best of states these days, I'm sad to observe.

Creature stats from game files
PangaeaACDC replied to PangaeaACDC's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Found a Linux build and installed it, registered, and tried to open some game files, but I can't it to work. I suppose they are protected by rows of barbed wire. Would have made it a good deal easier if I had direct access to the files. But maybe it would be difficult to get to the info I need anyway. Unity doesn't exactly look like plain sailing. It's a program for professionals, not casual newbs, hah. Another thing I would have liked, is to take much better pictures of creatures and items, if that is possible in Unity. But since I can't open anything... -
It's a fantasy world. Why should it reflect the world we currently live in? And one issue that is currently on the radar in that world at that. There are millions of other issues one could cover if that was the aim. Nay, shy well clear of things like this I say. Look what the sleezedogs did to our beloved Baldur's Gate. Okay, the political pointscoring was far from the biggest issue with the downgrading of the games, but it was still a big distraction. I want press and the game itself to be about Eora and all the wonderful folks in it, not some relatively minor issue on Planet Earth.

[3.05] (probably 3.06 too) Incorrect Journal entries
PangaeaACDC posted a question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
I'm entering a pile of creature data into the Pillars of Eternity Wiki, and have noticed that a fair few of the descriptions are actually incorrect. War Dog is one of several examples, where the description fits for Wolves. The right one is actually in the game files, in cyclopedia.stringtable, but it's not used by the Journal. I know this is unlikely to get fixed as the last patch has probably been released (or has it?), but wanted to mention it anyway since there were a fair few examples (and I've for the most part only gone through Beasts so far). -
The latter is sadly GOG's fault for infecting all default downloads with GOG Galaxy, in their rather overt attempt to push users towards that platform. You can still download the clean version, but they have hidden it rather well. It's in the More submenu in the game 'profile' in your account. Of you can install an extension call Adalia Fundamentals, which makes it so that the default download is the clean version -- amongst a great many other features. Recommended if you actively use GOG's website, and maybe even if you don't just for easier access to the classic installers.

Project Eternity: Wiki
PangaeaACDC replied to Tigranes's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It felt a bit lonely, like I was shouting in an echo chamber, so I was very happy when I learned that over the last month, the wiki has had 64000 unique visitors and over 1 million page views With no feedback from other admins, I've started to work on a design for creature pages (and have become an admin myself). Since I'm working on it in my personal space with a custom css, it's going to look very different for others, so I've attached a picture in the Creature restructure page. It's not finished, but I hope people would be pleased with it. Much work to do, but this has become a fun little huge side project. Once a template is ready and it is easier to make the pages, I hope others will join and help out, as adding hundreds of creature pages isn't going to be done in a jiffy by one guy. Edit: I've created a template, documentation for it, and published the first creature page: Adra Animat.
