  1. Fig Announces Positive Investor Returns for the Second Straight Year The relevant snip about Deadfire:
  2. I think this is in reference to the "Stay logged in" checkbox that existed on the old forums. With the new software, both mobile and desktop users automatically set an auth token via browser cookie. To log off you have to do so manually, wait for the cookie to expire (90 days?, nope 7 days), or revoke a session via Account Settings. It's a convenience for many, but for anyone using a shared PC, you may need to remember to log out, rather than assume the session will end when you close the browser.
  3. I you put your ear to the ground, you might be able to hear the quiet rumble of Deadfire's internal staging branch on SteamDB. It's been couple months since the last time it was updated... well, before today, that is.
  4. Just a reminder that if anyone is interested, The Obsidian edition of Pathfinder Adventures is bundled into the $12 tier of the HUMBLE MORE BOARD GAMES BUNDLE Other titles include: Pandemic, Carcassone, and Scythe. It's a pretty solid collection of digital board games redeemable on steam. The deal ends around May 7th.
  5. Many of those goals were set something over three years ago, well before it was even known to be coming to PC, and a few before the game was even released. The game has been in a relative steady-state since the PC launch in June 2017. As far as things that fell off the roadmap: Quest Mode and Multiplayer just didn't pan out due to the scope of the project, and remaining references were removed early 2017. The idea that a possible PC version would be free for mobile users was a goal that predated even the initial release in 2016. Steam coupons were given to existing users for the PC launch, but these days you can pick up the base game for as little as $5 if you willing to wait for a periodic sale. As someone else who stated with the mobile edition, I too would like to have seen more, but the present PC version is a fairly complete, standalone version of the Pathfinder ACG.
  6. After seeing that one of my devices stayed logged-in overnight, it looks like they may have adjusted the session timeout. A quick scan of the site cookies seems to indicate you should stay logged into the forums for 90 days before a reauth is required. Horray! Annnnd now it looks like the cookie is only good for 7 days.
  7. It might be fixed now, but each bit of info in that profile popup was being treated as a required field. You needed to fill in each field with something before it would stop periodically nagging you...
  8. Almost all the information about Deadfire or TOW that has been cross-posted from Discord was from the official Obsidian server, straight from Aarik or Mikey. The setting may be a little more informal due to its nature as a real-time chat, but the comms team understands their role as an official spokesperson for the company even if appears to be an off-the-cuff remark. I’d like to think that at the time they were made, to the best of their knowledge, such statements were both accurate and sincere.
  9. Likes like everywhere.

  10. Or, let’s take it to the next level and have each edit cost you 10 rep. Do you really want to fix that spelling error? How much is it worth to you?
  11. I believe that’s the case. If I recall Feargus’ GameInformer interview correctly, aside from Deadfire winding down, there is The Outer Worlds as well as two other projects they are looking at spinning up. I have to imagine the team is really eager to close out Deadfire with all the other stuff going on. They probably want 4.2 out as much as we do.
  12. Two-factor auth works great! Now that a session seems to hold for more than a few hours, enabling 2FA should have minimal impact on the ease of logging-in to your Obsidian ID. Instead of having to re-login to the Obsidian Forums every few hours, you will have to login and generate a new authentication code as well. It’s seems like a bit of a hassle when you are forced to log into the forums a few times a day. Hopefully we’ll get a working “stay logged in” option as the bugs get ironed out of the forum upgrade.
  13. I was wondering if that was just me. Pretty much have to login each. time. I. check. out. the. forums. I also agree that the new mobile version is a little rough. Between spacious formatting and each forum section having a verbose description, the main board index is like thirty phone-sized pages of stuff to swipe through.
  14. New forum.  Who dis?

  15. To be fair, the forums were down when he responded. I’m still a believer that the devs will eventually come back to these parts. One-line tweets or responses on chat is all they have had time for in the last few months, so I’m willing to take them at their word that it has been exceptionally busy.
  16. To quote Aarik earlier today on Discord: Maaaybe another week we’ll see the patch.
  17. Based on the logs, and your description, it looks like the Unity/Citrix incompatibility issue. As of mid-last year or so, a new feature was added into Citrix Workspace to allow you to remote in, and then forward control of that session to a third computer through a virtual display (Citrix Indirect Display Adapter). For whatever reason, that driver has issues with Unity games like Deadfire, and will cause a crash to desktop like you noted. Your options are: Uninstall the virtual display driver (should be fine, it is extremely unlikely you need that virtual display feature) Uninstall Citrix, then install the version from the Windows Store Uninstall Citrix, and reinstall it without the Citrix Casting feature (which includes the virtual display driver) Uninstall Citrix completely if you are no longer using the software, or don't anticipate needing it for a while Normally, I would suggest the quick-and-easy first option, but I'd strongly recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the version from the Windows store. The UWP version of Citrix on the Windows Store does not include the Casting feature, and shouldn't conflict with Deadfire or other Unity games even after it gets an update. Hope that helps. [EDIT: Forgot to mention the somewhat-new UWP version of Citrix on the Windows store.]
  18. so maybe not looking good but its not official or anything Yeah, following the action on steamdb isn't an exact science, but it's usually been the case that prior to a patch, you see a flurry of updates on the beta, stable, or staging branches (scroll to the bottom of the link). Could they jam through an update later today? Without a doubt. But based on almost all the prior patches (especially something large like 4.2 or a potential beta), there's usually a lot of movement on steam as it is staged for release. Anyway, we don't have any secret line of info over at discord. We're all just trying our best to make sense of "soon."
  19. Since it looks like Citrix has started rolling out update 19.03, these issues may start cropping up again. The below fix isn't as elegant as this, but it's a lot simpler. Go into Device Manager, open the properties on the Citrix virtual device, then uninstall it along with the drivers. The problematic "Citrix Casting" feature will still be installed, but without the underlying drivers, it will stop conflicting with Unity games like Deadfire.
  20. A thing is happening to the forums! Check it out! [Update to the Obsidian Forums!]
  21. Almost all of that has been calmly debunked by software engineers. It's fine and well to have a healthy suspicion of what your software gathers and transmits, but much of the Epic client's behavior is consistent with boringly routine stuff. For instance, root certs are the backbone of why HTTPS is secure. It would twice as fishy if the Epic Game Store didn't verify their site's certificate chain all the way back to a valid root. Why does it need to know how your browser works? Because the EGS front-end is a browser, and would really like to verify connection settings before trying to contact the outside world. Etc... If people want to take issue with the EGS launcher tracking cookies and monitoring page views, okay, sure. But it's still doing that for the same reasons that Steam or any other webpage does. If anyone is interested in a healthy rebuttal of some of these claims by Epic's VP of Engineering, check it out.
  22. Non Disclosure Agreement. They can't say **** publicly about this until the NDA runs out. Would Microsoft ever agree on such transfer of games? I seriously doubt that. Aside from just plain NDA considerations, it's bad business to publicly disparage your business partners. That's a quick way to turn needless drama into needless drama with a lawsuit attached. And as far as Microsoft goes, it does look like they already did throw their weight around. If they didn't intervene, TOW would likely be a true Epic exclusive, and not have a simultaneous PC release on the Microsoft Store.
  23. Quickest thing is from the main menu: "Start" --> Pick a Campaign --> "New" It will simply start a new game while leaving the old save and characters around. If you additionally want to delete parties and characters, it's a little more difficult. "Start" --> Pick a Campaign --> Press the red X in a save to disband the party then "New" --> "Add Character" --> "Load Existing" to browse your roster From here, you can select existing characters and press the red X in the window to delete any that are unwanted.
