  1. Platform: PC (Windows 10) User: atwarner #9699 Scenario: Undead Uprising Difficulty: Heroic Wildcard: Blood in the Sand Character: Ezren, Merisiel, Sajan, Valeros, Lini, Seoni Seoni has an Orb of Storms. She has failed the recharge check a few times. Each time it has been discarded. The text on the card indicates it should be buried. This has happened in multiple scenarios in multiple locations.
  2. Thanks. It has the same problem with Thassalonian Dungeon's location power. I assume fixing one will probably fix the other, but thought I should note that since I just discovered it.
  3. See this FAQ, which brings the tabletop text to match the computer text, and also says that he searches, shuffles, then can use Mind Trick to put the monster on the bottom. http://paizo.com/paizo/faq/v5748nruor1gk#v5748eaic9s5h The discussion about it was here: http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2r673?Dominate-spell#1 And this is the rules for search: Search Sometimes a card allows you to search a deck and choose any card of a particular type; that means you look at every card in the deck and choose any card of that type. Unless the card that allows the search says otherwise, the deck is shuffled afterwards.* So, if Ezren plays Dominate he looks at the whole entire location deck. Picks out a boon. Then shuffled everything except the card he is evading. Then he evades the card and can choose to either (a) activate Mind Trick and place the card on the bottom or (b) do the normal evade and shuffle it back in. *Also, the rules in the computer version say "afterwords" instead of "afterwards" (o vs. a).
  4. Platform: PC (Windows 10) User: atwarner #9699 Scenario: Black Fang's Dungeon Difficulty: Heroic Wild Cards: Darkest Night Characters: Ezren, Merisiel, Sajan, Valeros, Lini, Seoni Late in the game, Ezren and Merisiel were at the Desecrated Vault. Ezren explored and encountered a Goblin Commando. He played Dominate to evade it. First card behind it was a monster. Next card was a Blessing of Gorum, which he took. The Goblin Commando went back into the deck and the deck shuffled. The correct order (I believe) should have been to shuffle everything except the Goblin Commando (thus completing the search) then evade the Goblin Commando (and thus activate Mind Trick). Also, Dominate examined until it found a boon. It should have shown me the whole location deck and let me choose which boon I wanted. It uses the word "search" in the power, not examine.
  5. Platform: PC (Windows 10) Account: atwarner #9699 Scenario: Poison Pill Difficulty: Heroic Wildcards: Painful Memories Party: Ezren (The Old Light), Merisiel (Guard Towers), Sajan (Sandpoint Cathedral), Valeros (City Gate), Seoni (Village House), Lini (General Store) Turn 1: Ezren plays Scrying, chooses Sandpoint Cathedral. Sees Blessing of the Gods Blessing of Iori so he puts them on top. Recharges Scrying while displaying Robe of Runes. Expanded Spellbook finds a Cat on top of his deck. Ezren explores and encounters a Skeleton (small chance I'm remembering wrong and it was a Cultist. I know the difficulty was 9). Plays Summon Monster, drawing a Mercenary. Mercenary defeats Skeleton. Expanded Spellbook doesn't trigger. In case any of this matters: Ezren is an Illusionist with hand size 7, Greater Recovery, Mind Trick, Spell Collector, and Ally Collector. The rest of his hand was Fiery Bolt, Disintegrate, Swipe, Robe of Runes, and Clockwork Librarian. I had just take Summon Monster out of the stash via Manage Decks before starting the scenario.
  6. I haven't tried it in the past two days, but given that Flounder said they were testing a fix only 4 days ago, I would be surprised if it had been fixed yet. I haven't noticed any software updates since then.
  7. Scenario: Assault on the Pinnacle Party: Ezren (Thassalonian Dungeon), Merisiel (Guard Tower), Sajan (Temple), Valeros (Prison), Lini (Mountain Peak), Seoni (Throne Room) Difficulty: Normal Platform: PC (Windows 10) User ID: atwarner #9699 I've seen similar issues in other scenarios. Turn 5, Lini has to do the start of the turn Wisdom/Survival 7 check at Mountain Peak. Automatically on the screen are a 1d10 + 2d4, without her doing anything. Revealing and animal makes it 1d10 + 3d4 + 9. Success. She explores, and find Khalib. He is a transmutter, so the Runeforged Weapons is applicable. It seems that the Runeforged Weapons also were applying to the location's power, because he was the top card. Other times, I've had to reroll the check only to discover a Giant Crab was on top. So, it seems what ever the top card of the location, it's powers are being applied to the location's check.
  8. Scenario: Scaling Mhar Massif Difficulty: Normal Party: Ezren, Merisiel, Sajan, Valeros, Lini, Seoni In one of the most epic scenarios ever, at the end of the second to last turn that would have been a defeat, Lini drew Emerald Codex. This was a relief because Seoni was the only turn left and was at the last Death Zone, which had 3 cards and no henchman. Lini buried the Emerald Codex on Seoni's turn and got Dominate, Detect Evil, and Invoke. She played Invoke and got 4 blessings back. After winning 3 turns later, when rebuilding, Lini had Invoke in her deck of cards. It should have been banished since it was played from the Emerald Codex.
  9. Scenario: Scaling Mhar Massif Difficulty: Normal Party: Ezren, Merisiel, Sajan, Valeros, Lini, Seoni Multiple times when I ran into the Occluding Field, the other characters at the location that had to deal with the BYA power and failed to reveal a Sihedron card were dealt 1d4+1 Force damage. It should be 1d4-1. + vs -.
  10. I have this a few times now with the different "globes" or orbs. Most recently with Orb of Storms. Platform: PC (Windows 10) Scenario: Underneath Sandpoint, normal, no wildcards User: atwarner #9699 Party: Ezren (The Old Light), Merisiel (Town Square), Sajan (Garrison), Valeros (Prison), Lini (Shrine to Lamashtu), Seoni (Thassalonian Dungeon) Turn 3 (Sajan) Sajan encountered a Hound of Lamashtu at the Garrison. Lini played Improved Aid to help with the BYA Wisdom check. He used his Unarmed Strike (upgraded to Fire) and a two blessings. Ezren played Orb of Storms. When Ezren played Orb of Storms, 2d4 were added. When I clicked back on Sajan, 2 more d4s were added. When I clicked back and forth from Ezren to Sajan it kept adding 2 more dice. I've had it in other scenarios too and with other orbs, so I don't think most of that info is super relevant. I'll take better notes the next chance I get. Thanks.
  11. The Satyr requires a Dexterity or Acrobatics check to defeat it, not a Combat check. Weapons (typically) are useful only for Combat checks. A few of the monsters require or offer checks to defeat that are non-Combat checks.
  12. Similar thing for me. Party: Ezren, Merisiel, Sajan, Valeros, Lini, Seoni Platform: PC (Windows 10) Scenario: Sandpoint Under Siege, normal From prior character turns, Lini had only Eagle in her hand. She moved from closed Sandpoint Cathedral to Town Square. She was the only character at both those locations. She explored, encountering Greatclub +3. Failed to acquire it, even with her Animal Trick and a blessing from Seoni. Used Eagle, chose Town Square, no cards show, had to forfeit.
  13. I got the PC version on Steam recently. I'm playing Sandpoint Under Siege and both times the Jorgenfist Stone Giant henchmen aren't giving me a chance to close. Platform: PC (Windows 10) username: atwarner #9699 Scenario: Sandpoint Under Siege, normal, no wildcards Permadeath: Off Party Order and Locations: Ezren (Old Light), Merisiel (Wooden Bridge), Sajan (Waterfront), Valeros (City Gate), Seoni (Scarnetti Manor), Lini (Sandpoint Cathedral) Difficulty: Normal First turn: Scenario power reveals Yap the Pixie at Wooden Bridge, so he is banished. Ezren explores Old Light, henchman. Plays Fiery Blast, no other cards, result of 28. Fails recharge check. No opportunity to close location. I kept playing and much later Valeros defeated one at the City Gate via Warhammer +3 and Seoni's help from Incendiary Cloud and no opportunity again. But then, later Seoni encountered one at Scarnetti and did get the chance to close. She'd had the boon error listed below on a Token of Remembrance, then correct results on Longsword and Vale Temros, then the henchman. She already had Glibness displayed from the start of her turn, then used her power (sacrificing Sihedron Medalion) and Wand of Envervation. I'll add a lot of other things are off when I play this one. For example: Goblin Warchanter let Valeros play a weapon without the Wisdom check. Chains popped onto Weapons for a split second after it was defeated. Merisiel failed Wyvern to defeat Wyvern, discarded cards, then (after they were processed as discarded) had to do the Constitution check to see if she could reduce damage or not. Scarnetti Manor power triggering after succeeding at the check to acquire a boon on each turn. Falling Bell had Merisiel (alone at Wooden Bridge) do Dexterity/Acrobatics check first, then Wisdom/Perception check, then Dexterity/Acrobatics check again.
  14. I'm not sure if you are asking if locations stay closed for a whole turn or whether the scenario have you temp close locations when it doesn't matter. Temporarily closed locations are closed just for that encounter. Part of encountering a villain is temporarily closing locations, whether the villain can escape or not. I think in 4.4 (Under Jorgenfist) the temp closing will matter for cases when the villain is not defeated. For 5.4, you are basically having to corner and defeat all 3 villains. In the physical game, you put each villain up by the scenario card when they are defeated and can't escape. You win once there are 3 up there.
  15. Well, Seoni is actually succeeding at a check. Her power says "You automatically succeed at your check to recharge a spell with the Arcane trait." So, even though she isn't rolling dice, she is attempting a check and she is succeeding at it. It isn't "You may recharge any card you play with the Arcane trait." Kyra with blessing though, that isn't a check and shouldn't be treated as such.
  16. I think the cut scene might be intentional. If I recall, the scene is given to the character that interacted with Aldren Foxglove earlier. The rest is a problem though.
  17. If anything, I probably contributed to the improper application of Lini and the Farmhouse. I've been burying her allies there for a long, long time. Well, really I just avoided having her go there. But once the fix is in place, she need fear the Farmhouse no longer.
  18. Sorry, super busy lately. But, yeah, the blessing deck action you described is correct. From the most recent rulebook (Mummy's Mask): And yes, if Barl Breakbones forces a character to reset their hand and they don't have enough cards to draw to their hand size, they should indeed die right then and there. You wouldn't necessarily lose the scenario at that point. Though, if it was their turn, their turn would end immediately, meaning you wouldn't finish the encounter with Barl. If you've had cases where you were force to reset your hand and couldn't fully draw but didn't die, you've found a bug and should report it.
  19. I went with Amiri. You can kill her pretty easily if you aren't careful. Knowing when to bury a card and when to not is pretty key. And that is something that is hard to grasp right out of the gate, at least it was for me. And it is easy to way underestimate her moving power (I know I did for about 6 months). Close second in my mind was Lem. But I think that is due more to how I try to play Lem. I give him weapon and 0 combat spells. He's got to hold on to that weapon. When he doesn't, things go bad quickly. But, I think that is more my style than Lem's character.
  20. You get promos in the app if you purchased the bundle for the entire RotR set. That would be the only way to get Poog of Zarongel. And he has a healing power.
  21. Augury is not a pure Support, if we intend support for other characters. Because 90% of the time we use it, it rearranges the location deck for the spell-casters exploration. Or in other words it helps the spell-caster himself in his own turn, and just sometimes it helps other chars at the same location. Statistically I use Augury at the start of caster turn to make him closing faster the location, so at end turn all the inspected cards are already drawn. Also in Legendary we have movement restrictions that highly reduce the use of Augury as support card for other characters. Scrying is Support indeed, because it can help who you want when you want freely. And if you can choose between Augury and Scrying, the second is clearly better. True. I often assume Ezren might start the game with Augury, so I slot him first and have him go somewhere he won't really be trying to close. If he pulls Augury, he plays it, sets up the deck (hopefully) for someone else, moves, and starts to work on his own location. And yeah, Legendary definitely screws with this strategy quite a bit.
  22. In the physical version of Rise of the Runelords, my wife and I ran a team of Ezren, Sajan, Amiri and Merisiel successfully through. Ezren, Sajan and Merisiel are all pretty good at recharging cards. Amiri isn't, so my wife just had to be careful with her. Swap Valeros for Amiri for an even safer group. There are a few non-spell ways to get some healing. Father Zantus. Poog of Zarongel (if you have the promos), and Staff of Minor Healing are pretty key early on. Eventually, Sajan took the Drunken Master role and could recharge Potion of Healing, but even before then, none of them died. As others have said, focus on recharging and play carefully.
  23. I sill generally think it is Enchanter, at least if you consider the monster only by itself, not the possible locations or mode of the app. She's there from the beginning. Harpy doesn't show up until deck 4, and only in certain situations is the moving really bad (Legendary or if the location is horrible). And in large groups, there is never enough damage reduction to go around that will take care of Enchanter's BYA and AYA damage. Later in the game, Scarlet Walker is horrible. Warden of Thunder too. I'm dreading when we'll see them.
  24. Some of this i from physical game play experience. I don't personally ever give Seoni any combat spells. I let her use her power for that. All her spells for me do things besides define her combat check. Glibness and Haste being the top choices. Her job for me is to blow things up. But I still find Ezren the better support. In fact, I often have Illusionist Ezren with only 1 or 2 comat spells at most after his role card. and usually just Swipe. Instead, I give him an evade card or two (invisibility is the best), then as much Augury and Scrying as I possibly can. Throw in some Incendiary Cloud or two. Give him items and allies to basically guarantee his recharge check (Cat, Headbands of Various Levels of Intelligence, etc). If you've got him up to 11 spells, something like this would be awesome: Swipe (Combat and Support and Acquisition) Swipe (Combat and Support and Acquisition) Invisibility (Evade) Invisibility (Evade) Incendiary Cloud (Support) Incendiary Cloud (Support) Augury (Support) Augury (Support) Augury (Support) Scrying (Support) Scrying (Support) I consider Augury and Scrying support since letting others know what is coming is maybe the most helpful thing you can do. Allies, I like to through Brodert in there as another almost-Scrying power. And Cat to help his recharge. Monkey if I can get away with it. I almost never try to have Ezren actually make a combat check. He starts off with Augury/Scrying at his location. Then non-villain/henchmen monsters he evades and puts on the bottom of the deck. He sets up the other locatoins with Scrying and Brodert. If he finds a henchman, he puts it on top either for someone else to close the location or to wait until he has Swipe to take the henchman out himself. So, yeah, put me in the Ezren camp for who is more support oriented.
