  1. I think the US demo had some sp missions. That should give you a good idea.
  2. Since I have the game reinstalled, I guess I'll go over the contest mods http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=nwn2m...ory_select_id=9 Only 16 submissions, so it shouldn't be much trouble to get through them. Reviews to come. EDIT: Wait a minute.... This isn't just a writing contest. Some of these are supposed to be hours long. Hahahahahahahahasagasgasgashaa, I don't have the time for that. Anyway, the link is still there for those interested.
  3. Well, to be fair, I haven't played much of it. The whole point of getting the game for me was the coop anyway. The first mission was decent enough, but didn't actually involve any combat. After that, the story diverges into 3 possible missions. One is the main one where it's a big battlefield where two large masses of dudes shoot at each other. One of the optional mission was basically sniping some convoy. The other was sneaking in and blowing up some tanks. Playing by yourself, it just isn't, well, fun to sneak into an enemy camp at night to blow up some tanks that's being guarded by 5-10 enemies, with more reinforcements on the way in a few minutes. You shot one guy, you hide and sneak around some more, then shot another, then rinse and repeat. Or one of them kills you in one shot from far away. Yeah yeah realism blah blah. But 'realism' in and of itself is pretty moot when you're not dealing with realistic teammates and tactics. The AI is decent, I guess, but I wouldn't actually call it *good*. If I were doing the same missions in coop, I'd be having fun, but I don't find the gameplay conducive to singleplayer *at all*. But then, I'm like the biggest coop proponent ever, so take that as you will.
  4. I haven't played OFP (burn the heretic etc I no lol), but reading on other people's impressions, it's a fair step down from OFP's. The biggest dealbreaker though is the lack of coop through the campaign. I might just have to pick up OFP at some point for some coop.
  5. Nick and me will be starting a new campaign in NWN2 in coop mode. Armed Assault's singleplayer has been pretty lackluster, but tomorrow there'll be an opportunity to test the waters of full-fledged coop mode with a good group of people emphasizing proper tactical teamplay. Hopefully, that won't disappoint.
  6. http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?ar...=7650&cc=CA 2 freaking dollars. Sold.
  7. True. I mean, who would want to shoot lovely Gabs in the face repeatedly?
  8. I'm playing through the Carentan scenario for Combat Mission - Beyond Overlord. 8 or 9 battles x 20 turns each. That map is huuuuuge. Gee, I guess I must have been watching Band of Brothers. Otherwise, Ninja Gaiden Black mission mode, Crimson Skies, and hopefully Panzer Dragoon Orta will come today (but possibly next week). Phoenix Wright 2 and Tales of Phantasia on the portable side.
  9. Okay, finished the game. ROFL @ endgame 'plot twist'. I was shocked and cared. Mission mode is awesome. I'm glad I'm done with the story.
  10. You guys are missing the point of the thread, which is to ensure that his teacher kills him. In any case, the concept is nice, so go for it. The screenshot is nice too, just like you Again, though, everything lies in the execution of said concept. Needs more Deekin getting killed, though. Or you getting killed. That works too. I like your teacher.
  11. No one reads your reviews.
  12. The prize goes by default to some 3d console game. This is why I tend to gravitate towards 2d gaming. It's usually not so much of an issue unless it's a fast-paced game where prompt camera control is needed. Ninja Gaiden Black comes to mind Though, actually, I just rant about it, it's not *that* bad (nor is it good by any stretch of the imagination, though). It's functional enough, and annoying most of the time, but there's been very few times where it's actually gotten in the way of the gameplay. The problem is that I *like* the game. I'm sure there's some 3d console game out there that I've played with some horrific camera scheme that I don't even remember. Probably from the N64/PSX era. I don't recall the camera in Jade Empire ever being a problem. But then again, I paused the game as needed, so I might not have noticed.
  13. I just kicked Doku's butt and then died at the hands of the endlessly spawning red demons that came after I left the room to save after solving the (stupid platforming) puzzle. The camera sucks. The artstyle sucks. Some of the design (platforming, "puzzles", stupid tedious water level, ranged weaponry --> bosses during the tairon-on-alert mission) sucks. The melee combat redeems all of it *completely*. Most satisfying combat ever. I have a love-hate relationship with this game. It doesn't answer my calls, though. Like that MCA jerk. I don't mind dying over and over again during a difficult satisfying battle. What I *do* mind is when I'm stuck having to repeat some jumps over and over again or have to mess around with the stupid camera to 'figure out' how to solve the "puzzles", or when I just die because of a cheap enemy because I'm stuck having to use ranged attacks against it. That's just frustrating. Give me a cool challenging battle that kicks me when I'm down and I'll get right back up and fight it all over again. Heck, I have a tendency to not save when I win an insanedly difficult battle after many many attempts and just reload to fight it all over again.
  14. Gobble gobble http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=...wmv&pl=game Oh. Well.
  15. OFP <--> ArmA and RO would be my two top choices in terms of realism in FPS. The setting (modern vs WW2) makes the two experiences quite different. Bolt-action rifles with bayonets are awesome, especially when you have to manually do it. The nice thing about RO is that it's 20 bucks on Steam.
  16. Did anyone submit anything for the contest? In any case, I'm still planning my Deekin mod. Though I'm thinking about changing the premise around a bit. Instead of hunting down Deekin, I lure in Deekin fanpeople with a "Relive the legend! You get to be Deekin! This is Deekin's greatest adventure yet!" and then proceed to kill the player in various sadistic ways. Or a "You're Deekin! People want to kill you! Try to survive! 'Try', hehehhehehhaehehshjheajsehaejaejse" ... I think it's bordering an obsession.
  17. Hehehehehe, still loving the game. I'm in the sewers now. The devs should have just stuck with combat, though. What's up with these puzzles/platforming? And forcing me use the bow while enemies are raining rockets at me, all while I'm using a bloody gamepad to aim? That's sadistic. At least I got past that part.
  18. I'm currently playing through ArmA right now. I'm doing night stealth operation, and was so focused on the mission that I think my heart skipped a beat when I got shot. Now that's intense. Otherwise, as others have mentioned, Red Orchestra is very realistic. Now, granted, it's multiplayer-only and a PvP game. But never has an online FPS been as rewarding when you survived a round and lived to fight another day. You can definitely focus on your kill-death ratio if you want, since there are respawns, but you can also focus on staying alive at all costs. Getting kills once in a while is just a nice little bonus.
  19. Crimson Skies (Xbox version, which I think is the sequel to the older PC version) is awesome. This is filling my itch for a flight (arcade) game. The controls work surprisingly well with the gamepad. Assaulting giant zeppelins while dogfighting large number of smaller aircraft + orchestrated music = epic battles.
  20. I got a few old Xbox titles. Ninja Gaiden Black is quite possibly the best action game ever made. Too bad about the camera. I also obtained Crimson Skies, a combat flight game involving swashbuckling dodfights in an alternative reality 1930's setting. Very nice from what little I've played so far. Nice orchestrated music. Panzer Dragoon Orta - which was just recently added to the 360 backwards compatibility list - is in the mail. On-rails shooter. We'll see.
  21. Hehehe, I just got the Holy Grail from the monastery underground after fighting off that horde of zombie thingies. Hard-hitters, and dying kind of happens pretty quickly if you don't pay attention. Having to be constantly on the move, jumping around and dodging the enemy is refreshing change. I already can't wait to restart the game on a harder difficulty.
  22. I just got to the monastery. The sense of progression as you get new weapons and upgrade your old ones is pretty neat. I can now kill more efficiently and with more style, and enemies that used to be quite tough baddies become regular fodder. I'm not sure which weapon I like the most, and I end up alternating between all 3 that I have so far. The camera has become more tolerable out of habit, but that doesn't make it any less sucky. One bad mark against an awesome experience so far. The art style is also pretty horrid, but at least that doesn't directly get in the way of the gameplay.
  23. That was a low blow, man. Keep Revan out of this.
  24. Finally got NGB. ............... Is this the greatest game of all time? I'm at the airship boss. The combat so far has been incredibly satisfying and so bloody awesome. It's hard, freaking hard. But not actually as hard as I expected from hearing other people speak - so far, anyway. Though, despite the updated third person camera control, this is by far the weakest part (or only weak part?) of the game. It kind of outright sucks. Ninjas > all.
