  1. Are those the guys that last teleported down before the end of the first part? We took those guys out in one go. We were stuck at the first checkpoint once you get on the ship, with the lightsaber jerks. They're easy to kill on their own, but overwhelming chaotic action = awesome. 20+ tries, we didn't make it to the next checkpoint :D
  2. My brother and I just went through (or tried to) Chapter 3 - Truth and Reconciliation - in Legendary coop. I didn't keep count of how many times we died and had to retry Best part is that the insane difficulty is just part of the fun. I didn't feel frustrated at any time during the session. Unfortunately, we had to end the session without finishing the chapter, so we'll have to restart it next time. Which is fine by me.
  3. Alyx's constant monologues (while you were 'roleplaying' Freeman) in Episode 1 did not make for good narrative. "I'm scared, Gordon" "Wow, Gordon, look at that!" "Gordon, look out!" "I'm okay, Gordon!" "Only a bit longer, Gordon" "We're going to make it, Gordon!" "Oh Gordon, don't stop!" Real immersive. Maybe I'm just biased because Alyx is a horrible character.
  4. Both HL and Halo have pathetic stories.
  5. I can barely go through the songs on Easy Normal is pretty hard, especially with the 4th note coming into play. I just have difficulty coordinating 4 notes together. Much less 5. 3 is fine. Coop is awesome.
  6. Halo as a 'game' in and of itself is perhaps overrated (putting both games side by side, I'd easily say HL2 is the 'better' game, for example). But coop + legendary mode = best FPS experience I've had so far. HL2 doesn't even remotely come close. It was 'okay' at normal or hard, but legendary mode having me and my brother fight for our dear lives (and dying over and over again) against overwhelming odds and numbers pretty much *defines* the meaning of coop. I don't even care about the conventional FPS genre anymore, and yet Halo3 is pretty high up on my anticipated games list. I'm a convert. The fact of the matter is, you played a horrible horrible horribly pathetic port. /xbot
  7. I just got my childhood back and bought Zelda Link to the Past, Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island for GBA.
  8. I resent the accusations.
  9. I can't be bothered to mp anymore So little time with gaming, and I certainly don't want to waste it on people like Blank and pixies.
  10. TMNT is one of the worst games ever created. 2 and 3 are completely on the other side of the spectrum.
  11. The hint is more a desperation move if there's only one or two possible moves on the grid. In any case, the devs deny having the AI cheat. http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/04/01/puzzle-...at-but-you-can/ I would be skeptical given what I've played, but I doubt the devs would be stupid enough to flat-out lie about it (but you never know!). In any case, I've gotten my fair share of Heroic Efforts and 4/5-of-a-kinds, so it's not all one-sided.
  12. Oh, stop beating a dead horse. You just don't understand.
  13. Well, now that Phoenix Wright 3 is official, I'll put that high on the list.
  14. No, Role-Player. If it doesn't fit MY definition of Fallout, I won't play it. I'm not buying an editor so that I can make my own Fallout. Don't you understand?
  15. Llyranor replied to Eliandir's topic in Computer and Console
Not to mention better immersion and NPCs that made you want to play the game over and over.
  16. Given their involvement with Aliens RPG, do JE and MCA have anything to do with this?
  17. And will be dead. A dead Deekin is a good Deekin.
  18. Maybe I'll make a mod about killing Deekin.
  19. Guitar Hero II is surprisingly entertaining.
  20. It's cute how some people think an 'original' setting would save a game from being bad, when it's being done by the same devs whose games they haven't enjoyed indefinitely. FO3 is saved!
  21. Incidently, Mr. Generic there would be first in line for yet another DnD CRPG. Besides, this is vaporware. We already have a STALKER thread here.
  22. Well, let's see how games have been implementing 'tough' NPCs. 1) You can't attack NPC. 2) You can attack NPC but can't kill him/her. Reload. 3) You can kill NPC. You either die or succeed. The problem lies here. Unless the game has been designed into accommodating the potential death of said NPC, the consequences are going to be pretty shallow. The 'pay a fine and all is well' approach is hilarious. An alternative is everyone going hostile for the rest of the game, effectively breaking it. But then, why give the option if it just breaks the game (because the game wasn't designed with said option in mind). Otherwise, there's the faction/town hostilities as well. Only said faction/town goes hostile against you for the rest of the game (.... or until you pay the fine -___- ). It works, but it's a rather simplistic consequence. Still, it IS a consequence. BG had the right idea, but terribly executed by having some Flaming Fist dawgs chase after you if you had a horrible reputation. You were essentially playing the same game, except for some occasional people coming out to hunt you. If you're a wanted fugitive, the gameplay should be vastly different. Unfortunately, unless the game caters to it prominently, you essentially WILL be playing the 'same game' with minimal changes. No bounty hunters tracking you down and laying traps and ambushes or false leads, no having to hide your identity and sneak around. Roleplaying a fugitive could be pretty compelling, but when it's such a small part of any particular CRPG, you can't expect the devs to invest such disproportionate resources on it. Which is where paying a fine comes in.
  23. I agree that everything can be undone in the majority of games with one click, which robs a cRPG of much of the tension of PnP. However, I'm uncertain as to your meaning within the context of this thread The point is that it isn't so relevant that some NPCs could be unkillable. The roleplayer would never actually figure it out. That's powergamer speak. You can decide to roleplay and decide whole legions, but if you know that any risk that your character may face is irrelevant, how much of a role are you actually playing? Ironman mode is awesome. More games need to take into consideration when designing gameplay and balancing. EDIT: Hmm, this is tempting me to reinstall Wizardry VIII in Ironman mode.
