  1. It'll help if you can't get full influence. But you can still get full influence even without that Jedi Master ability.
  2. I wouldn't be surprised if Kotor 3 did have a new engine. Having said that, Valve was silent for 5 years. It's only been 5 months (since PC version) for KOTOR 2.
  3. Darkside's for teh win! I don't suppose there's any about how I love to play murder simulators is there? Found it!
  4. They still agreed to it. Not always the case. No beef with asking to be traded, and definitely no beef with renegotiating a contract. Hold outs are crap because they work both ways. If a player is playing like crap, a team can't even trade him. How many times in pro sports to players have stellar seasons when their contract is up at the end of the season? Players shouldn't do stupid stuff like sign long term deals if they don't think that that dollar value is going to remain appropriate. Honour the contract, since whatever team you play for is going to have to. Same goes for bands like Linkin Park or anyone else that doesn't honor the contract. Let's not forget that even as recent as the 80s, teams were a lot more stagnant. You could argue just as easily in the other direction, that the reason the teams are no longer loyal is because of the free agency explosion. Many people herald the trading of Wayne Gretzky to be the undoing of free agency in the NHL. The owner of the LA Kings had no problems forking over a huge amount of coin to secure the rights to Gretzky, and pay him huge amounts of money. But then suddenly other players go "Oh, well Gretzky is making this much money, so I'm at least entitled to X amount of money." You liken Pro Sports to any other job so quickly. If a contractor decides to just not work despite having a contract, he gets sued. All sorts of legal ramifications come in. In the layman's job market, contractors don't just "hold out." So, if the NHL is just like any other business, why are their employees allowed to hold out?
  5. Actually no. I've only seen it on other people and online. Never in a store.
  6. That's not an indication that they aren't going to make it though. Silence is just silence. Especially when the President mentions a flat "No" to a future Jedi Knight game, but a "That's interesting" to a future KOTOR game. Half-Life 2 had silence for FIVE years.
  7. Is that the Object Oriented extension of fun?
  8. They also had no problems offering him a no trade clause. Basically they propose the trades knowing full well that it's up to him if he wants to take it. If not, oh well. Whether or not they view a player highly is the sole determinant as to whether or not they trade a player. To take an extreme example, no matter how much fans and the team may have loved Doug Weight in Edmonton, if say Detroit had offered Sergei Fedorov for him, the trade would have likely been done, because at the same time the team needs to do what's best for the team. Just like how the players feel they need to do what's best for themselves.
  9. Just looking at base classes, I could probably suggest Sentinel/Master. It would mirror the Scout/Consular motif of the first game, since Sentinels are the skill experts (huge amount of skills, with all skills I believe being class skills). If you go with flurry and master speed, combat wise you'll never have any problems. So just pick whatever you want :D
  10. Communications skills are communications skills. As long as you have some way to effectively communicate with the design team (whether it be with logs or reports or your savvy use of the verbal language), it's going to be useful.
  11. I'd be surprised if they didn't make it. There's no indication that they aren't going to make it.
  12. As far as I know I'm curious with how the story immediately follows up the scene.
  13. They don't want to trade him due to injury. In fact, the deal was proposed by Baltimore, the Padres were just interested in acquiring a new pitcher. My comment wasn't directed at the fact of alleged "punishment" (even though they still found a way to work him into the roster in their last game), but at the fact that apparently the team thinks he's a crap player because they want to trade him.
  14. I felt that given Joe Thornton's injury, it was still awfully gutsy of him to still play in the playoffs. He's still relatively young, and I think he's going to be a scary performer throughout his career.
  15. And when you hit level 15, make sure to talk with Kreia on the Ebon Hawk.
  16. It's still an adventure style game, so I'm fairly confident it won't be too short. And I am hoping that the rest of the game will have the level of detail that the opening scene does. I actually got arrested in one version of the game :D I also kinda liked the opening scene where the director comes in (in game) and tells you a bit about the story
  17. http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...xt=.jsp&c_id=sd And my bad about misreading your "any job" line. Never saw the 'in' there any time I looked at it. EDIT: I don't think you can say that it's just about the team thinking Nevin is a crap player (despite Nevin being team MVP three years in a row at one point), especially when it was the Orioles stating Nevin would be a good exchange for Ponson, the pitcher San Diego was interested in.
  18. Many of those game types could easily support product placement. In fact, any game set in a modern or futuristic time frame could support it fine. There's nothing saying Pepsi isn't going to be around in 30 years, so there's no reason for a game 30 years in the future to not have this sort of arrangement. In fact, lets say I go down to Time Square New York, I would think it'd be stupid to not have the huge Coca-Cola sign and other stuff like that. And the playstyle (IE First Person Shooters) has nothing to do with it. It's all about setting.
  19. Except he only has 9 home runs. The number should be more towards 20, except for the fact that he was injured and has been struggling since. The trade was offered because it would give Nevin more opportunity to play. Even then, they still found a way to squeeze him into the lineup, playing him at catcher in their most recent game. Yes, because the Oilers traded Gretzky because they thought he was a crap player He's an expensive player, that's struggling and certainly doesn't seem to be playing to the form that netted him his $10 million contract. It's clearly for the love of the craft, when people state that their going salary is $20 million dollars. Gaming industry is a different story, because people making games don't make a lot of money. In their situation, it's clear that they don't do it for the money, as virtually every other programming job out there would actually get them more money. Then don't say stupid stuff. Ad hominem. It doesn't matter if you don't care how much mine union employees make. I'm not the greedy one, I'm not the one making the money. Nor do I care to. In fact, I want to be a game developer....clearly it's not about the money. I don't just think about the price tag, I just don't live in some fantasy world where I say "people do it for the love of the game" yet cry when they willingly leave a team because that team couldn't offer them enough money than a different team. Yes, because Jeremy Roenick is the defacto class act. He always says stuff to get the media and whatnot rieled up. It still doesn't change the fact that if it was so unfair, then they wouldn't need to play in the NHL. Something has to keep them there, and it's not just the love of the game. They can play hockey anywhere in they wanted in the world. Considering your attacks against anyone that uses hyperbole, I'm just going to leave this one. Besides, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. Yes, I'm sure that's exactly why they're happy
  20. Same here. Good demo. With this and Dreamfall in the works, it might be a good year for adventures. They need to do something about the interface, though - honestly, the left/right quick clicking thing is ridiculous. They also need to make sure there's a decent game to match the story. I just finished Still Life - nice characters, nice story, where's the game? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think they're trying to keep it relatively simplified, where the game will be based upon the choices that you make. Apparenlty how you play through the opening scene as Lucas dictates how the investigation goes, when you take over control of the police investigator investigating you. For instance, my first play through I hid the body and washed up. Almost left without paying, I also tried talking to random people, which in hindsights was dumb because people would then get a good look at my face. But I didn't clean up my mess, and left the murder weapon at the scene. Tsk tsk. My second attempt, I just bolted from the scene. Made a big ruckus and scared the crap out of the waitress. So she's got positive identification, plus the crime scene is virtually unaltered. Things that could maket things interesting in the investigation. I like the idea of playing both the fugitive and the investigator. So far I have high hopes that it's going to be a pretty solid story. I'm also curious how his stress level is going to affect the game. EDIT: And I didn't mind the clicking interface. It's a simple enough interface, that mimics the second analog stick of the game controller.
  21. You guys might want to take a peek at the demo for Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy. It's an adventure game, that definitely seems to be story first. It has a simple intuitive interface and was quite simple to play. The demo was quite short in actual length of the story, but it is lengthend by the fact that there's a whole bunch of different things you can do in the story.
  22. Could probably add Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy to that list of mine. I just played the demo and it seems like a neat story.
  23. In any case it doesn't really matter. The game isn't that hard.
