NHL is back
Then. Don't. Sign. A. Long. Term. Deal. Clearly finances aren't a concern, otherwise they wouldn't have held out to begin with. A small price to pay for getting a bigger paycheque. And that's it? Just no paycheque? Try being an independent contractor and just deciding that you don't want to work anymore because the contract is "unfair." See how long it takes before he gets sued. Just another indication that the world of professional sports is not like any other job. Tell Alexei Yashin that. Although you criticized me for criticizing a team that signs a player who has a history of holding out to a long term deal. Because arguing in any other way is lost on you. If I didn't, you'd continue to point out obscure examples. If you hadn't noticed...I'm arguing like you do. Proof?

I think many people will speak out against it simply for the sake of speaking out against it. In a modern setting specifically, I think it works wonders for the immersion and suspension of disbelief.

Story in games?
Meh, Indigo seems fun to me :D Some people will likely find the game too simple of an interface, but their goal seemed to be a game based around emotion and choice, rather than specifically gameplay mechanics. They wanted to make the interface simple, and have it reflect the actions that the character is performing. A dynamic, interactive story of sorts. As I've said, I'm curious to see how it pans out. Not bad for a game that I hadn't even heard of before I played the demo today :D

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Quick question, which method is better? Would it have been better for Valve to announce Half-Life 2 shortly after Half-Life 1, despite the fact that we wouldn't be playing it for another 5-6 years? Would it be better, if they are currently planning the game, for them to announce KOTOR 3 now, even if the game might not come out for a few years?

I agree. Give in to temptation!!! I once went three whole days...didn't get up to eat...didn't get up to go to the bathroom... You didn't go to the bathroom for three days? I said I didn't get up!

I love the trailer where the sweet old lady talks about how she's not a violent person, but once she found out how to split the atom she was gonna blow up any motherf---er that got in her way

In-game adverts
Fair enough, but the only game I've seen that implemented in game advertising in its single player campaign did it very, very well.

In-game adverts
It's subtle and appropriate in Splinter Cell 3. I'd imagine it's still the game developers that put it INTO the game. If the ad makes sense, then it shouldn't be a problem.

I think you might be right. I always picked the repair feat though. It's so useful seeing as it's your party leader that determines how many components you get when breaking down items, and that's based purely on your repair skills. Plus fixing stuff is cool!

It'll help if you can't get full influence. But you can still get full influence even without that Jedi Master ability.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
I wouldn't be surprised if Kotor 3 did have a new engine. Having said that, Valve was silent for 5 years. It's only been 5 months (since PC version) for KOTOR 2.

They still agreed to it. Not always the case. No beef with asking to be traded, and definitely no beef with renegotiating a contract. Hold outs are crap because they work both ways. If a player is playing like crap, a team can't even trade him. How many times in pro sports to players have stellar seasons when their contract is up at the end of the season? Players shouldn't do stupid stuff like sign long term deals if they don't think that that dollar value is going to remain appropriate. Honour the contract, since whatever team you play for is going to have to. Same goes for bands like Linkin Park or anyone else that doesn't honor the contract. Let's not forget that even as recent as the 80s, teams were a lot more stagnant. You could argue just as easily in the other direction, that the reason the teams are no longer loyal is because of the free agency explosion. Many people herald the trading of Wayne Gretzky to be the undoing of free agency in the NHL. The owner of the LA Kings had no problems forking over a huge amount of coin to secure the rights to Gretzky, and pay him huge amounts of money. But then suddenly other players go "Oh, well Gretzky is making this much money, so I'm at least entitled to X amount of money." You liken Pro Sports to any other job so quickly. If a contractor decides to just not work despite having a contract, he gets sued. All sorts of legal ramifications come in. In the layman's job market, contractors don't just "hold out." So, if the NHL is just like any other business, why are their employees allowed to hold out?

Actually no. I've only seen it on other people and online. Never in a store.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
That's not an indication that they aren't going to make it though. Silence is just silence. Especially when the President mentions a flat "No" to a future Jedi Knight game, but a "That's interesting" to a future KOTOR game. Half-Life 2 had silence for FIVE years.

They also had no problems offering him a no trade clause. Basically they propose the trades knowing full well that it's up to him if he wants to take it. If not, oh well. Whether or not they view a player highly is the sole determinant as to whether or not they trade a player. To take an extreme example, no matter how much fans and the team may have loved Doug Weight in Edmonton, if say Detroit had offered Sergei Fedorov for him, the trade would have likely been done, because at the same time the team needs to do what's best for the team. Just like how the players feel they need to do what's best for themselves.

Character advice needed
Just looking at base classes, I could probably suggest Sentinel/Master. It would mirror the Scout/Consular motif of the first game, since Sentinels are the skill experts (huge amount of skills, with all skills I believe being class skills). If you go with flurry and master speed, combat wise you'll never have any problems. So just pick whatever you want :D

Communications skills are communications skills. As long as you have some way to effectively communicate with the design team (whether it be with logs or reports or your savvy use of the verbal language), it's going to be useful.
