  1. It doesn't sound like it's unrelated. It sounds like the people that lived in the Gaza Strip before they were tossed out by the Israelis want to be a part of the Palestine. Things change over the course of 50 years or so. Is Egypt making claims on it?
  2. I wonder, would the world have less wars if we were completely homogeneous? That is, if we were all one race, one religion and whatnot, would things be better? Or would we just fight over different stuff?
  3. I know all that. I do think that the nuclear bombs ultimately did save lives. The Japanese were very much "fight to the death." Although I wonder how much resolve they would have had if the island itself was just blockaded, with key areas being destroyed by conventional means. The dropping of the bomb was still murder on a grand scale, as was the firebombings of Tokyo, in an attempt to pound the enemy into submission. The rationalization of the deaths of Nagasaki and Hiroshima was that it would save lives....although I would bet the only lives they were considering saving were the Allied ones at the time. In the end, it was still the Emperor who broke a deadlock in the government about continuing the war.
  4. Which would explain why Kyoto was originally planned on being the first target. Fortunately for the citizens of Kyoto the Secretary of State admired the place because of his visit on his honeymoon. If you want to take out key military targets, perhaps it should not be done with something that will kill 120,000 people, most of them civilians. They were dropped to pound the enemy into submission, and was overkill for the military strategic value. Furthermore, Tokyo was already under heavy bombardment. 16 square miles of the city was already destroyed, and over 100,000 people killed in the firebombings that occurred. In fact, they cancelled the precision bombing missions on military installations because the weather was too unpredictable, and opted for low altitude carpet bombing with incendiary ammunition. No need to drop a nuke on Tokyo when it's already being pelted with virtually no loss of planes (22 aircraft lost in almost 1,600 sorties against Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Kobe. But as long as the intent to hit military targets is there, then I guess it's OK to eradicate over 100,000 lives instantly. I guess it's true that when the numbers are that high, it's not murder...just a statistic. Wow, slippery slope there. It might not be the outright intent of the Israeli government to eradicate Palestinians, and I never said it was. Is it the outright intent of the majority of Palestinians to eradicate the Israelis? You have the impression that the Israelis are above the intentional slaughter of innocents. But they've lost family and friends too. If given the opportunity, how can you possibly rule out the chance that some of them might want some revenge in the heat of the moment? I wasn't talking about my story or anything when I mentioned that. Of course CNN and BBC will have anti-Israeli news. They have to in order to maintain their credibility. Doesn't mean they have all the facts however. They just regurgitate the "intelligence indicated that there were insurgents in the area" crap that the PR people for Israel tell them. You justified the Israeli displacement of Palestinians, stating that it should be a buffer zone like the Soviet Union had.
  5. Like the people living in Dresden. Or Japan. But if you think the bombs of Hiroshima or Nagasaki were merely attacking military installations and industry, then I don't know what to say. Those bombs were dropped because they would cause heavy duty loss of life, in order to pound the enemy into submission. Fortunately for Israel, they can do whatever they want and just write it off as "intelligence that indicated their were insurgents in the area." Then the BBC and CNN will report that and then people like yourself will swallow it up at face value. Not that I'm surprised. Like you yourself has stated, they've been under attack pretty much forever. To not want some sort of "payback" would be unusual to say the least.
  6. Even if that one individual is speaking on behalf of the UN? When did the UN officially sanction the war?
  7. Although it was you that commented that murder of innocents is never acceptable, yet accept the mass slaughter bombings because it "may have saved lives."
  8. There's no such thing as an objective source.
  9. I was under the impression that they went in without UN approval.
  10. Simply because CNN or the BBC doesn't report it means it didn't happen?
  11. I mentioned one. Israeli forces kill another Palestinian girl inside school STOP! I never said the Palestinians weren't doing it. You were asking for situations when Israel opened fire on innocents. EDIT: Why should people be forced out of homes because we feel bad for Jews because of the Holocaust?
  12. The Allied bombings of Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki were, no matter how the U.S. Government would like to put it, shock tactics used to bash the enemy into submission. They can claim all of the industry and military significance they want (although no one seems to be questioning the validity of said information), but they did bomb innocent lives. Dresden is often debated as to whether or not it is a war crime. Ender, you get upset at people justifying and rationalizing the murder of innocent people, when you did so yourself. In the exact same post, you said this shortly afterwards: Had Japan not surrendered, Tokyo was the third target. I think you also take too much of the media at face value. It's in Israel's best interest to not report the slaughter of innocent Palestinians. How much credence will we give a pro-Palestinian news report that mentions the slaughter of innocent civilians. We right that off as propaganda, yet the Israeli reports are good enough? Nobody that I personally know, outside of Arabs, are pro-Palestine. I'm not sure what your newspapers report, but ours are always laden with suicide bombings and the deaths of innocent Israeli people. The only Palestinian casualties are "collateral damage." Hooray for anecdotal evidence though. Israeli troops kill Palestinian girl in the Gaza Strip. 13. I never did like the fact that Lacrosse is our "national" sport. What is a national sport really anyways? We didn't have any lacrosse teams in my high school, nor do I think we had any in any of the Edmonton school areas. Don't know of any Lacrosse teams of any kind actually, but hockey teams of all ages are all over the place.

  15. I like winning above all else.
  16. Volourn is 38???? Why all the hubhub about his real name?
  17. Did you hear about the squabbles of Martin St. Louis and his bittersweet reaction to Vinnie's contract? Maybe it's because I'm not a professional athlete, but one thing I know is that I would much rather win than lose. I'm disappointed that Lecavalier wasn't willing to not go for top dollar to ensure that the team could sign his linemate St. Louis. I guess the more things change the more they stay the same. I would think it would get to the point where money is less of a concern since it's already way past what one would really need to live an affluent lifestyle, but I guess not. Tsk tsk.
  18. Unrest with Soviet Activity Along Northern Border The ArchDuke awoke earlier this week to concerns about a Soviet incursion in the Galicia region. Mr. FerdinAllan commented on the situation. "I have not granted permission for Soviet troops to be within Austrian borders, and will investigate this matter with the utmost scrutiny," FerdinAllan stated. "I have sent an envoy to the Soviet ambassador to assess the situation, and deal with it appropriately. Furthermore, scouts have already been dispatched to Galicia to confirm the reports." There is speculation that the reports are false, spawning from dissent among the males in the Galicia work force. There has been reports of "unfair scrutinization" of the men in the region from their wives and girlfriends. "It's not fair!" states a man, whom wishes to remain anonymous. "I mean, we can't all be like FerdinAllan. The dude is a stud! Combining his stellar looks with his charm and personality is an unfair comparison for most men. I just want to be loved for the person I am, without having to worry about comparisons to our leader." We asked some of the women in the region about the rumours, but upon hearing our leader's name they either went hysterical with excitement or got dreamy-eyed. As a result we cannot confirm if the concerns of the men is substantiated. A border dispute also occurred in the Tryolia region, although FerdinAllan is much less concerned about it. "I wouldn't worry too much about Tryolia," he said with a laugh. "It was just a misunderstanding and we dispatched our troops to inform him of the situation. I don't hold it against him, as it's not like we have magical machines that tell us precisely where we are. It's all been taken care of." In other news, talks with the leaders of Serbia and Albania have all but confirmed their willingness to join the great country of Austria. File Photo of the ArchDuke:
  19. I figured that was ripe for a "Truth? You can't handle the truth!" type speel. I guess it was too obvious.
  20. A console will need to have a wowowowowowowowz0rs game for me to purchase it
  21. Seriously I could probably create a character with all of my points into stuff like Intelligence to try to handicap my character as much as possible, with 8s in strength specifically, and still demolish most enemies simply because I have Master Speed. 2 extra attacks per round? Yikes what were they (whomever created it) thinking???
  22. Brodeur is the better goalie IMO. But if you compare to him then the entire league is a bunch of halfwit seives
