  1. I don't think tranq darts do anything to her. In fact, I think she gets a bluish energy shield over her if you try hitting her with one. I love that implant that makes the missiles explode. I just have it at level 2, and even then that's more than enough to ensure that all the Commando missiles detonate safely in front of me. It was hilarious being attacked by about 3 of them from long range, as I took them out with my sniper rifle and all their rockets prematurely exploding. Good fun :D Can't wait to get it to level 4. Hopefully I can get them to kill themselves!.
  2. What's the new Leisure Suit Larry game like?
  3. He's one of the very few people I've seen that claim the Paladin isn't strong enough. I suspect he doesn't know how to use his seals and judgements appropriately. I've seen a single Paladin take out two higher level badguys...a warlock and a fighter. And this was all around the level 50 range to boot.
  4. I believe you can install both augs from one canister, if you find a duplicate....although I've never tried.
  5. Both sides commented that their feud would not delay Half-Life 2 (since it was in both of their interests to see it get released). How true this statement was can be debated I suppose. I attribute most of the "delay" to the overambitious release date, in addition to the hacker getting his hands on the media build of the game.
  6. Splinter Cell 3 does have an excellent engine as well. Though I wouldn't call it siginificantly better, especially when concerned with facial animations.
  7. I don't consider the huge blocks of text to be a detriment to the game, unless you just can't be bothered with reading. I also like the slow beginning because quite frankly, I wouldn't expect anything else from TNO given his circumstances at the beginning of the game. If I had a choice between PS:T and MGS2, I'd definitely pick PS:T.
  8. I was originally gonna post what happens, but I figured I'd leave it to your own devices. I played through killing Navarre, and it was interesting. Manderley seemed less than thrilled, and I was really hoping Gunther would break down crying or something
  9. I think you're underestimating the influence of advertising. In any case, why did you see Barb Wire? Was it because you heard it was an excellent story or something?
  10. I'm game for the new map. It opens up Russia's vulnerability to Turkey, and slows down his movements to the north (I totaly agree with splitting St. Petersburg.
  11. I doubt that he was going to build anything other than a fleet in London. It was what I had predicted for his build.
  12. But I have proof that you are really 30! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "
  13. You do NOT have to kill Navarre. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I love that part... you have the chance to join the terrorists and ditch your brother. I never tried it though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Errr, how is joining the terrorists "ditching your brother?" What do you expect will happen (I know, as I've done it both ways....I'm surprised neither of you two have).
  14. You're ignoring opportunity costs. Why spend the time and money making a game that will provide a profit in 4 years, when you can just put it into a mutual fund and make more money? Long term profit is only profit in the eyes of an accountant, and only when looking at cost of production vs revenue of sales. And if Interplay needed instant big hit money, then Planescape: Torment was definitely a failure.
  15. Except that an Army in Siberia is still 3 turns away from being a serious threat to Turkey. It does make a land invasion of Turkey more plausible however.
  16. If it take 4 years to make a profit though, is it successful?
  17. I was thinking more along the lines of provinces like Serbia. They just seem so out of the way :\
  18. If I can find IW, I plan on picking that up too. I know it's not as good, but surely it's worth the $10 I can find it for?
  19. Actually that is roughly about right. 4-6 weeks. Half-Life 2 went gold on October 18th, a full 29 days before being released. 6 weeks is probably the upper end, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it before.
  20. Do they storm the plane? It must make the return to UNATCO HQ a bit more...interesting EDIT: In other news, all this discussion has just caused me to reinstall the game
  21. What's the point for all of those Eastern provinces? And if you click on the map in Ender's link, it makes it bigger (at least it did for me).
  22. I think a lot of Selanne's recent production "issues" came from being like 7th man on the totem pole while in Colorado. He was still a 30 goal scorer in San Jose. But with no red line, and hopefully less obstruction with the smaller goalie equipment, I think he has the possibility of doing quite well. It is a gamble, but for only a million I think he's worth it. Who knows, maybe he'll pull out a 76 goal season :D
