  1. The town near my parents has an EB games, and it's population is roughly 18,000. http://clients.mapquest.com/eb/mqlocator Although there's EB Games in Ankeny, although it's 20 miles away from Ames.
  2. The penalties are a necessary evil. If they stop blowing the whistle, then nothing gets changed.
  3. Quake 2 supports OpenGL natively. It came with the default OpenGL driver support, as well as 3dfx OpenGL (the miniwrapper for it) and PowerVR support. Quake 1 did have a patch though, and it was called GLQuake. Although I think the game was always coded in OpenGL, just not with 3D accelerator hardware support. I assume it just used the software OpenGL driver, as I can't imagine reworking an entire engine to support OpenGL if it didn't support it to begin with. Unless it's easier than I figure. 3D cards became "for real" quite a bit before Quake 2 was released. The Voodoo had already been out for a while, and I believe the Voodoo2 had already been released before Quake 2 came out. Quake 2 was still the definitive FPS when such chips as the Voodoo3 and TNT2 Ultra came out. ATI's first "gaming" chip, the Rage128, was specifically optimized for Quake 2.
  4. Is there such a thing as a true myth? I assume Volourn is talking about the Sleep spell too?
  5. I bow before the wonder that is Gromnir! HA! Good fun!
  6. What's the measuring stick for declaring an EA Sports game better than a competitor?
  7. Nah, it's just because people don't know any better. Again, just because people buy them, does not make them good. The 2K games, particularly for Basketball and Hockey, are better games, particularly from a simulation standpoint. Unfortunately, EA Sports has crazy brand recognition. IMO they've fallen from grace, and I do not praise them anymore for their games in the 90s, which definitely were the better games, especially compared to the competition.
  8. Just because a game is popular doesn't make it good.
  9. Although you could probably contend that it's not that difficult to maintain the dominance with the acquistion of exclusive licenses. Somebody could make a better version, and we'll never know
  10. OMG, owned again. He DID play for the Coyotes. Clearly that was a memorable season! He did only play 59 games though.
  11. Amonte was a Flyer. I think Langkow was the Phoenix guy you're thinking of. Amonte's not THAT old, and he has great hands. You don't lose those with age. I suspect he'll have a good season this year with Iginla.
  12. I think the fact that he considers most EA Sports games to be good just about says it all.
  13. I was bringing them up more for the benefit of other people who may not have played the games yet.
  14. Jeez what was he thinking??
  15. I was going to flip a coin between Darkside and Darque, but since Darque has effectively withdrawn, I voted Darkside.
  16. Poor Adam. Must suck to be finally coming into your own in the big leagues only to have things cut short due to injury.
  17. Not sure what you mean? If there had been a good Fallout game released that didn't strictly adhere to Fallout's interface, people likely wouldn't have cared. But since that game doesn't exist, we'll never know until Fallout 3 gets released.
  18. IL-2 Sturmovik is an excellent game too.
  19. I haven't been following NWN2 development that much. How possible is it to just disregard the current combat system?
  20. Aren't we getting a "beta-tested" version from Europe sometime soon?
  21. No EB??? Where on earth do you live now?
  22. Silent Storm was an excellent game!
  23. My God kept repeating why the sky is blue, but when I went to show you, it seemed to have fixed itself, so it was ultimately a lot less funny EDIT: Nevermind...my copy and paste seemed to "fix it"
