  1. You cannot win at the internet, because I already did.

The idea the NHLPA and NHL had was allowing the pros to compete in the Olympics would be good exposure for the game.
  3. I don't think her head is really all that oversized at all. This is probably the most plausible proprotions Lara has ever had.

Nobody forced Hasek to play in the Olympics. The players signed the contract that allowed them to participate in the Olympics. Only person you can blame is the players, not the Olympics.
  5. Yup. One thing I didn't like too much about the game is that it seemed a bit too mining centric. At least the beginning.
  6. Yes. I have played some Eve Online as well. Though I just played the trial. By the time I was willing to pay for an MMO, I had no one to play with. Didn't feel like jumping in by my lonesome. Eve has a fantastic economy.
  7. 24 is about to start, but I'll be there

Good thing Colorado got an overtime loss in their previous game, lest we be playing Dallas in the post season again.
  9. Pirate games always tend to be on the romantic side. Sid Meier's Pirates is one of the most highly acclaimed games of all time. It certainly does not depict pirates accurately. If this was Freelancer on the seas, I'd likely buy it in a second.
  10. I think the point was made because many AD&D "purists" criticize 3rd edition for having overpowered clerics.
  11. I disagree, I think a game setting like this is better than most RPG universes for an MMO. I'd love to play Sid Meier's pirates with another 100 people roaming the Caribbean.
  12. I typically didn't use the rocket launcher against soft targets. Do you even have it at Ravenholm?

No one said Jagr can't play defense. This has much more to do with his offensive ability than his defensive ability. +/- is an awful measurement of defensive ability. Especially when considering an absolute amazing defensive player is not even going to be a plus-player if he has 4 hacks on the same line as him. For all you can tell by looking at +/- is that Jagr is riding the defensive capabilities of Nylander and Rozsival.
  14. I'd always test my nerves by waiting as long as humanly possible to double shotgun blast those fast ones. I didn't want to miss! I found the black headcrabs scarier too. They had a wierd call before attacknig, and while they couldn't kill you, it was never a happy moment to be knocked down to 1 health instantly.
  15. Grav gun is useful too. Exploding barrels are your friends!
  16. Don't worry about screaming like a girl. I did...but it was worth it!
  17. The demo I played of Scrapland seemed fairly violent. It's just the violence was directed towards robots.
  18. Heheh. It was only 24 standard pages long
  19. That's the real problem: there is a dearth of reliable intelligence on the subject. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another part of the problem is that the only real people interested in disproving the video game violence myth are those working with the industry. As a result, much of their research is immediately discarded as being biased, despite having good scientific methodology. Yet people like Anderson are given a free pass despite concluding an increase in violent crime in todays youth. He cites the surgeon general's assessment, using one particular graph for one particular type of crime, with one specific age (18 IIRC). Despite the fact that a few charts later, in the very same Surgeon General's warning (I think it's one of the links I gave too), the SG concluded that on the whole, violent crime in today's youth has decreased. There's also other correlations, such as the increase in youth crime follow the increases in illegal arms distributions in the late 80s and early 90s.
  20. Should we average them and Bioware together then?
  21. Oh, one more thing. Some of these links might be more geared to TV violence than video game violence.
  22. Ok, here's a whole bunch of links that I had used. Some were used to demonstrate the position of anti-violence activists (i.e. they aren't in favour of the violence), as well as though that counterpoint the arguments. There isn't exactly a wealth of studies being attempted to indicate that there is NO effect. Most "defense" studies point out inconsistencies (or absurdities) with many of the claims. Stating that there is zero effect is just as insane IMO. The studies that I have seen typically agree that video game violence can seriously affect SOME people SOME of the time.....just like anything (i.e. the phenomenon is not isolated to video game violence). Some of these links may not be appropriate, and some of them are from places like wikipedia (which may or may not go over well with your teacher. I used my Wikipedia link to find actual references to other discussions, and learn about people like Lt. Col. Grossman and whatnot. http://www.pbs.org/kcts/videogamerevolutio...pact/myths.html http://www.kidsource.com/kidsource/content2/video.games.html http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/glance.htm http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/gvc.htm#Violence http://gr.bolt.com/oldsite/articles/violence/violence.htm http://mentalhealth.about.com/cs/familyres...ameviolence.htm http://culturalpolicy.uchicago.edu/conf200...s/freedman.html http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/homicide/teens.htm http://www.apa.org/science/psa/sb-anderson.html http://mentalhealth.about.com/od/cyberment...violence805.htm http://www.surgeongeneral.gov/library/yout...pter4/sec1.html http://www.fotf.ca/familyfacts/analysis/010901.html http://world.std.com/~jlr/comment/tv_impact.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violent_video_games http://www.slate.com/id/2099203/ http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/04/...ain678261.shtml http://www.wired.com/news/games/0,2101,606...n_story_related http://culturalpolicy.uchicago.edu/conf200...pers/kafai.html http://www.ship.edu/~cgboeree/bandura.html http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/02/24/...ain676446.shtml http://www.gamepro.com/computer/pc/games/f...res/49517.shtml http://www.surgeongeneral.gov/library/yout...1.html#epidemic
