Fair enough. Which is not something you require a CD for. It sounds like if a digital distribution company that you bought a game from goes belly up a few years later, it won't likely bother you.

The point was that there's no guarantee that his precious CDs are going to work forever either. It must be a real pain in the butt for him to patch games though.

What if your CD wears out or gets damaged? How do you install the game then?

I install the game then put the disc back in its packaging. Get a No CD patch and plug it in. No need to have the disc in the machine and its nice and safe in a secure location in case I need to do a reinstall. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Errr, that wasn't the point. I can quite literally play any of my current batch of games without the CD in the drive, as long as I have it in while loading. So I'm thinking people are overstating the issue about the computer needing to start spinning every few minutes. Some games may require it, but in my own experience many (most?) do not.

I've yet to have that happen. The most "restrictive" download I had was one license that only let me install 5 times. At first I was thinking "Boo-urns." But then I thought about it....it's not a very big game, I have mountains of HD space, and I don't exactly reformat every 60 days. Depends on what you are getting into. As far as I can tell, my Galactic Civilizations one has no limit.

As someone that lives in Canada, I can safely say I don't see many lazy bums that are high school drop outs lining up for health care.
