  1. I usually consider pet peeves to be those minor things that annoy you. I mean, I wouldn't consider people that perform ritualistic torture on my friends and family as a "pet peeve" perse, but I certainly don't like it
  2. Stop spreading your religious fanaticism in this neutral forum. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He jus said Amen as a good Christian would. What's your problem? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not sure what that has to do with anything, since I'm not a Christian.
  3. Keep in mind that that quote was made by Atari in mid-July, whereas the Feargus hoopla was back in May.
  4. Those don't really seem like "pet peeve" issues.
  5. If you were interested in joining, it appears as though the last day to enter the contest has gone by already. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nah I wasn't interested in joining. I didn't know what contest it was.
  6. I remember at first thinking the same towards Jaheira, but I think that that was more just because it was the first time I had ever seen a romance in a game like this, so it was a pretty new and cool thing at the time.
  7. Going by the definition you just gave, it would seem so. But I guess since you didn't explicitly say "alanschu is a full o' crap clown" but rather called the members of a group (which it seems I fit into) a full o' crap clown, it doesn't mean that you called me a full o' crap clown. And I stand by that statement. I'll always take a really fun 50 hour game over a really fun 20 hour game, but length itself does not predispose itself to fun (look at Morrowind and Oblivion). I'd rather have a really fun 20 hour game, than a long drawn out, boring 50 hour game. And you're a grumpy, cynical pessimist if you think that they cut over 60% of the OC due to time constraints, and then decided to readd all of it because of a couple of extra months to work on it. I can't find any information on the first delay, but the official Atari line for the second delay in July was "Given the sheer size and scope of Neverwinter Nights 2 and its 50 to 60-hour single player campaign, it was decided to move the global release date of Neverwinter Nights 2 out a month to late October. This extra time is invaluable as it allows fine tuning and polishing of both the single and multiplayer experiences to ultimately deliver a game that exceeds the tremendous expectations of the Neverwinter Nights fanbase."

Didn't you have like a whole week off last season?
  9. Someone seems to like Elanee.
  10. THat would be so many shades of awesome!
  11. I think he's just playing with it. I believe he is also an artist as well though, so that will help with the creative aspect. I played around with the toolset for about an hour, and manipulating the terrain is actually quite simple. The only real problem I can see is that there's no support for Undoing your changes to the terrain, so I suggest saving very frequently.
  12. It depends. Most people wouldn't consider a spelling error in a string to be a bug, even though it technically is. Furthermore, some would label the AI as being buggy, while others would label it as just being poor. I'm betting that the people that said they didn't encounter bugs didn't run into any quests breaking, or NPCs disappearing, and that sort of stuff. The stuff that MAKES you take notice. The fact that a guy got stuck during pathfinding and had to click again, easily overlooked.
  13. I think I was more just defensive because he referred to me specifically as a "full o' crap clown." Coupled with the fact that he basically said it was all because of him and the other complainers, gives the impression that he was just here to toot his own horn, and insult those that didn't share his view. So what I'm seeing here is the announcement of a delay in July 2006 (two months after the post in this thread where we made our original predictions), it was able to readd 30-40 hours of gameplay (using Atari's 50-60 hour game comment that went with the announcement of the delay) that was cut (150-200% of the 'original' 20 hour estimate). Not too shabby. Sorry, but I'm skeptical that any decision to cut more than 50% of the game was made, and then reversed. Especially based on forum complaints. I'd be much more willing to accept an idea that someone went "Hey, if you get rid of 50%+ of our game, our story really isn't going to make any sense at all." But even then, the extension that happened in July was only a one month long extension. So once again, if they were able to readd 30-40 hours of gameplay with a mere additional one month's time (plus a mini-delay of a few weeks in September), then kudos to them once again. Though I suppose you could argue that they starting doing this with the first delay, they just needed more time. The thing is, before Gromnir was tossing around insults and patting himself on the back in this thread, he was getting on people's cases for taking more stock in Nathanial's comments about the length of the game. He was chiding on people for remaining optimistic about the game. And Eldar, you were even of the opinion that Nathanial wouldn't be lying either. Nathanial even made his comments AFTER stuff had been cut (Spider commented that he felt it was too convenient). You yourself felt that the 30-40 hour mark was much more reasonable. Patrick Mills also made a comment at E3, reiterating the 30-40 hour mark, as a guideline for those that will power through the game. The fact is, many people believed the 30-40 hour comments that people were making, rather than Feargus' 20 hour mark that he held on to, yet now we're supposed to thank Gromnir because he was fighting the good fight and well all get to benefit because of his hard work. Puh-leeze I won't dipsute that concerns brought up by the forum community can have an influence, but to have the game suddenly go from 20 hours, to 50-60 hours in such a short time because of complaints on message boards? And Gromnir made fun of us for being optimistic. HA! Good Fun!
  14. I have my own personal problems as you know, and in Hungary there are some...minor security problems right now, also I worked on this hard and long, so it will hurt me badly if I don't get a good response...yeah, i know this reaction is kinda weird, but i do want some recognition for my little work ...so many things happened with me in the last 1,5 year, those are a heavy burden. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So if your mod gets picked as the winner, all of these things no longer apply? And how would I know if you have personal problems?
  15. Since this is clearly what you're looking for Gromnir, here you go:
  16. Just because it's not picked doesn't mean you can't make the module.
  17. Except that the comments from the actual developers (that you didn't want believe) shortly after the cuts were still talking about a long game experience. Unless you think that they decided to change their mind days after they announced the cut. Not only that, but Owerwinde was inquiring about some parts of the game he had heard about but couldn't find, shortly after release, and some Obs guy was talking about how it was still part of the game. Yes, clearly no doubt. When it was only Feargus that commented on a short game time, and when you decided to go all frothy at the mouth and developers stated he was wrong, you put your fingers in your ears claiming that their comments were worthless, and that you'd only accept it straight from the horse's mouth (Feargus that is). And I'm sure that the angry voices of the exceptionally small amount of people that bitch on forums completely changed all of their minds. I never struck you as someone that would like to come in and toot their own horn, but I guess I was wrong. HA! Good Fun!
  18. Well, as for the idea, I'd suggest not using NPCs from a different game, as you're bound to run into restrictions and complaints about how you went with those characters. But hey, if that's what you want to do, have at it.
  19. There's a reason why he speaks latin at time
  20. So the prize is an autographed box of a game you already own?
  21. Aren't you one of the people annoyed with the creators for releasing the game in the "state" it is in?
  22. What contest are you talking about?
  23. How much was the game delayed, especially relative to when that post was made? That information was collected not even half of a year ago, right around when things started to get the axe. Wasn't it all stemming from a comment that Feargus made, that other people the worked as Obsidian as being incorrect? IIRC, people were complaining about a quote from Feargus, and people working on the game had stated it was wrong, yet you refused to believe them, claiming it was damage control. Given how there isn't really much in the way of sidequests, I highly doubt that the game's length was stretched in the 11th hour. It's not like Baldur's Gate, where they literally hired a guy and his job specified explicitly that his responsibility was to add many (been a while since I spoke with him, but I believe the number was either 10 or 12) sidequests per day. If 5-10 hours of content was decided to be added by Obsidian at the "11th hour" of this game, then colour me impressed. Because there doesn't seem to be anything that was blatantly rushed when it comes to the story, nor are there just large areas with mindless fighting or ancillary tasks that have little to no relevance to the actual plot of the game.
