  1. Oh, and just in case people missed it, here is the comment that got the author thinking: http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/47797?p...comment-1313907
  2. I was having a discussion with a friend of mine, and I was wondering if the "game length" is really the stand alone best metric for the value of a game. Portal is one of my favourite games of all time, and it's short. But it was also cheap. Would I have still bought it if it was $60. Hard to say. At the same time, I have played games that were very long, that were less interesting. Games like Morrowind and Oblivion. I also found the core game of Mass Effect quite entertaining, but all the extra content filler being a sore spot of the game.
  3. Ah yes I understand. I think that that is always tricky to do. Gabe Newell, for example, is against stuff like that (and stuff like the origin stories in general) because he believes most people will play a game through once, and he doesn't want to deny them any of the experience. It also means more work
  4. Hahaha yeah, I don't know if that is necessarily the case
  5. What exactly are you meaning when you say you want a genuinely different outcome though?
  6. Figured people might enjoy this. I found the comment he links in the first paragraph pretty interesting too. http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/47828 I don't know if I agree with his doom and gloom, but at the same time I won't dispute that the cost of gaming has continued to go up, and the economies of scale don't seem to be keeping up.
  7. Well, as Human Noble you're able to which is completely unavailable to every other race. Most of the changes are fairly cosmetic and in dialogues I find. I'd contend that a lot of it is "fluff," but interesting fluff that goes with small details that can add to a solid game experience. Though the Human Noble suffers from having the starting area and family wiped out to start the game, whereas dwarves get to revisit their origin area. I imagine the Dwarf Noble could have a lot of differences in Orzammar, but I have not played through it that far. I am considering it for my first homegrown playthrough.
  8. I stopped doing the side missions because I didn't enjoy them after doing some of them. I did enjoy the main narrative, and I did enjoy the companions. And because the two companions I played with the most were Kaiden and Ashley, the plot point later in the game probably affected me more than others that choose to play with different companions.
  9. Actually that's not quite the issue. There's also the core override folder, which 99% of the stuff exported will have dependency with. Most people aren't aware of the packages\core folder, and it is always used regardless of what module you are in. So even if you just export stuff in a custom module, you'll still get issues with the single player game.
  10. I really enjoyed it to. I, err... beat it in one sitting >.>
  11. He admits he edits the audio to remove his gasps for breath
  12. Just as a heads up, I strongly recommend you do NOT download the toolset, and certainly don't mess around with it, at this time. We're working on a patch, but people have had issues with it breaking their single player games (due to the core overrides folder being used for everything), as well as some issues for people still using XP32 SP2 (which isn't officially supported).
  13. Just as a heads up, rogues can't go Two Handed Weapons or Sword and Shield spec either. I'd still keep the mage a separate class. I think it's distinction in the lore merits it good enough. You probably could have warriors and rogues merged into one, but perhaps there was concerns about TOO much options being available, to the point where many users feel overwhelmed about where they spend their points?
  14. Whew, my foruming obsession has me "working" off the clock at BioBoards
  15. Yeah there seems to be two big issues. One with the toolset, and one with DLC. Still sorting out the details, and there is definitely works in progress for both of these. Unfortunate
  16. That probably has more to do with there being a bug in the toolset. Apparently some of the core includes have different IDs for some key variables in the toolset compared to the shipped resources. How this happened I'm not sure and a patch is on its way, but it has been responsible for a lot of the "strange things" (like plot flags not being triggered) happening in people's games.
  17. Hmmm, would you find choosing something else over poison making significant?
  18. Just like games only available digitally discriminate against those that dno't like buying things online!
  19. What abilities do you normally start with as a Dwarf rogue? I actually don't turn momentum on until after I use some abilities, effectively making it "free"
  20. Do you listen to the full VO?
  21. The team itself may still be getting laid off, while JVC begins preliminary work on plans for what to do with the franchise in the future.
  22. M&M 3 was a great game. Though I always needed to cheat, and once I met dragons I was teh suck. I loved what they did with the strategy guide to code the cheats.
  23. The only reason I could think is for someone that is in the back seat?
