IIRC, Cunning affects dialogue in that, if you had enough of it, you wouldn't need the Coercion skill.

I'm sorry, who here said that the Wehrmacht didn't commit any atrocities? How many times does this need to be repeated until you realize that citing examples of the Wehrmacht performing an atrocities accomplishes nothing? All you did with your post, was reaffirm that you are using False Dichotomy. That you're too stupid to realize it is not my fault. Of other interest: Even American fighter Ace Chuck Yeager wrote in his autobiography that American soldiers followed out orders that could be considered war crimes because they didn't want to face a guaranteed court martial for not following orders. He also stated that he was concerned his unit would be tried for war crimes should the Allies not win the war. And since you apparently are unaware of Nuremberg's criticisms (odd, wasn't it you telling other people they didn't know much about WW2?), here's some of the thoughts people had for it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuremberg_Trials#Criticism Funny how tu quoque wasn't a valid defense. Must be nice to be on the winning side. There's a reason why the Nuremberg trials are famous, whereas the Japanese trials are not. And it's not because of the Wehrmacht.

Please don't speak on behalf of me. Even Volourn and his rather unique way of discussing things has made points at times that I very much agree with. A lot of the stuff I don't think Volourn is alone in, especially when looking at discussion of various topics at other places (usually BioWare's social site) that has comments and assessments that are typically contrary to what many people are saying here. They also have comments that agree with what people say here, but it's hardly "Volo vs the World." At least in this thread IMO.

It looked like they refer to a guy that lets "junk science" get to peer review simply to promote debate. What exactly do they mean by "junk science?" Science that doesn't agree with their position. Is it? Or is that just the way you interpret it? "Junk science" usually means science that isn't particularly sound (the type of stuff that doesn't get to, and certainly not past, the peer reviewed phase). Are they actually referring simply to "contrary" papers, or ones based on poor scientific methodology?

I just got Sten. Aside from me having more focus in the 2H weapon tree, we're actually quite the carbon copies of each other at the moment. I have a slight lead in strength, but he makes up for it with other abilities. Our constitution is the same. His default tactics do set up to use Threaten (but not Taunt), which is probably an idea of having him solo whomever he is facing. Though I prefer to have Alistair be the meat shield once he gets taunt up, so I set Sten to Scrapper.

I'm curious what the emails refer to with respect to that guy getting "blacklisted." The email said junk science was being allowed simply to promote debate. Though if it's truly "junk science" then...

The setting in general seems inspired in part by Celts. I don't think it's much of a stretch to see where a lot of the inspiration comes from for the various regions of this game.

Well, liberal anyways.

What exactly is the trick that was used?

I didn't notice a decrease in mana cost, but I didn't really look for one either.

I think that an idea where continued focus in a particular school of magic improves the potency of all spells in that school of magic would have been an interesting way of doing things.

When they go after people like Doenitz that were trying to win the war for their country in the same capacity that Chester Nimitz wanted to win the Pacific War for his country, it's clear they're looking on being rather aggressive on punishing people for war crimes. Fortunately not all involved were fanatical about it, and conceded that things such as unrestricted submarine warfare were also employed by the Allied nations. Doenitz said it best when he pointed at the absurdity of him being in league with Hitler, simply because he was an Admiral of the Kriegsmarine that consulted with his head of state. Witch hunt is an aggressive term, but given what people were finding with the death camps, there was serious pressure to see heads roll as a result. The False Dichotomy is that you're showing scenes where members of the Wehrmacht did commit atrocities, as if it somehow discredits what Hurlshot said. It doesn't, as Hurlshot never said that the Wehrmacht was not responsible for commit war crimes. You're the only person here that thinks that anybody was trying to absolve the Wehrmacht members of their responsibility for committing atrocities.

I was being silly. I don't know what the idea was behind their inventory scheme. On a personal level, it didn't really bother me.

I already quoted it earlier:

They're magical bags of holding though!!!

Are you playing on the PC or console?
-
Yup. That's why I said almost no consideration of the terrain. There definitely are some occasions.
-
I can agree that the battles aren't "tactical" in that there's almost no consideration for the terrain. Outside of putting an enemy outside my LOS, not much advantage in that regard IMO. I do think that there is a variety of ways you can build your characters, and how they can compliment each other's parties though, that are all valid. I have noticed this a lot on the main boards. Though I personally do consider the Mage to be probably the most powerful class. I haven't tried Blood Mage but I hear it can be quite devastating if min/maxed. And yes, this make me love Indomitable

I sold much of my inventory, including the Cousland family sword since I am a 2H specialist. I also convinced the elf that I was the person he was looking to give the sword to at camp. Combined with the loot I gained from looting bodies in the Cousland Keep and selling those two swords, I had about 1g, which is enough for the daytime backpack. I could have kept the sword for Alistair, but I figured he'd not be hindered too much without an enchanted sword to start. I wanted to make sure I had enough for the backpacks as they were my #1 priority, but I woefully underestimated how much money I could get from the Korcari Wilds. After that I was sitting at just over 5g. I got the Chasind Greatsword for myself there, as well as a host of other loot. If I have no plans on using it, it gets sold. I'm also being more aggressive with the "crap" armor. No need for me to keep some crap iron dagger in my inventory. I didn't sell two pieces of mage gear though. I wanted to keep both of those for Morrigan. I did sell the darkspawn staff though. Kept the Thane helmet, and Alistair is now wearing that. Aggro management is still a bit tricky to start the game since Alistair just got Threaten and still needs to get Taunt, as well as some combat tactics skill slots for him so I have some flexibility in adjusting his tactics. Though usually I can overpower my foes enough that it's not much of an issue. I keep Indomitable on all the time which works well for me it seems. With it on I was able to one shot a few Genlock Rogues in the wilds (though they seemed really weak. Other rogues weren't close). Sunder Arms does pretty good damage, as does Mighty Blow (I can't wait until I start using Mighty Blow to shatter frozen/petrified guys). Pommel Strike works for interrupting enemy abilities, and with low stamina the regen rate is good enough that I don't have too much downtime on my Pommel Strike and Sunder Arms, even with both Indomitable and Powerful Swings (with Two-Handed Strength) active, though I usually turn on Powerful Swings after I do my first mighty blow though, since it can be activated midswing. The immunity to stun and knockdown is very handy though. The only Warrior talent I have picked is Powerful thus far. I did have Dog and myself drop in the first fight in the tower as I get smoked when the Genlock Emissary cast Shock on me. Alistair dropped in a fight a bit later on, but it was towards the end and some well timed Pommel Strikes prevented the darkspawn from doing much damage. The Ogre threw a rock that almost KO'd the no-name Mage, but he quickly picked up Alistair which let the mage, Dog (accidentally named Dig hehehe), and myself to beat on the Ogre without worry of his "Massive attack." Once Alistair got low on health I used Pommel Strike, which seemed to knock Alistair loose. Or it was a coincidence. Since I had beat the crap out of the Ogre, I had aggro now, so I kited him for about 5-10 seconds, until I realized that his health was actually quite low, so I resumed my big attacks (by this time another mighty blow could be used) and I finished him off with a Sunder Arms attack, which unfortunately does not spawn the cool deathblow animation I was actually having a lot of fun. The lack of a rogue sucks as I walk past the chests and cannot loot them, but in the end I think I'll survive. Will head to Lothering and pick up stuff there. I'll probably play with Sten for a bit, but he'll probably get replaced with Wynne quickly.

I think it's actually a bug, but there's a backpack for sale for 57 silver in Ostagar Day, and Ostagar Night. EDIT: It's funny how much easier the Ogre is now that I'm familiar with the game He went down super fast. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Pommel Strike may have knocked Alistair out of his grip of doom.

So far enjoying 2H Warrior. Just finished up the joining. I have 5g and both backpacks (which I missed my first playthrough) which will certainly help with a lot of the issues I had with inventory haha.
-
I needed to do some playing around, so I made a 2H warrior human noble. So far I have put all my points into strength (8 total), but then I plan on changing to 2 str 1 will and am going to see how that goes.

My commentary has always been with regard to an expansion pack. Since you mentioned Shadows of the Undrentide and BioWare getting screwed over, I'm not sure exactly where you were going in even discussing the issue with me if you didn't think I'd take your post to be some sort of comment that BioWare is screwing someone over by not making a definitive statement about an expansion pack. Is the "very enlightening" comment in regards to the one I made in your WoD MMO thread or something?
