  1. What are those "open" mods?
  2. Yeah I'm not a big fan of Germany's position and actions within the EU. Life was simpler when they were out conquering! Hehe.
  3. Reapers only get kyboshed in one of the endings, and frankly if there was a desire to do a spinoff RTS the idea of taking one of the endings and running with it would probably still work. I'm skeptical it would happen though. If it did it certainly wouldn't be made at the Edmonton Studio either haha. Unless there was a burning desire to just go out and try something completely different! Hahaha.
  4. Le sigh. Or is it just that you're still bitter for being banned despite a history of unproductive, passive aggressive posting where at one point you actually state straight up that you've been intentionally trolling the forums for some time while then having the absurdity to not understand why you were banned from the forums. You weren't banned for "Trolling" you were banned for trolling. We're cracking down on people that have nothing of value to post. You had demonstrated that you were one of those posters. It had become evident you were not a fan and were more interested in leaving snide one line remarks as posts instead of actually engaging in discussion. Upon seeing your 4 year old reaction when joining this forum, it certainly seems like we were correct in our assessment. If you wish to know who recommended your postings be reviewed, it was in fact me. So cheerio mate.
  5. Yes, but if you love great settings, fantastic characters, and excellent writing, if AD&D is just "meh" to you you can still love a game like BG2 or PST.
  6. On the plus side, milestones have been met. You can still buy the game after it's released. What's telling, though, is that any perceived "consensus" over what made the IE games is probably in the imaginations of most gamers. Fact is, a game like Baldur's Gate appeals to a wide variety of people that all have different things they prefer from it. Even the IE games themselves differ quite a bit, where I infinitely (heh) prefer Torment over the others, but I still really like the BG games. The IWD games were fun, but utlimately not as interesting as their focus was mostly on combat. Torment had crap combat, but is probably the best RPG of all time IMO. So what exactly makes these games what they were and what is it that all people love about them? Things like Vancian magic annoyed the piss out of me, but I tolerated it once I understood the idea behind it. It didn't take away from all the other things I love.
  7. These hypothetical arguments make up the definition of being an apologist. Level-scaling and cooldowns have always sucked RPGs. Hypothetical arguments to the contrary is nothing but blind hope that Obsidian will somehow invent a completely new design that will blow away everyone. Betting on mechanics that are already solid seems a much wiser choice with a low budget. Level scaling exists in games like Baldur's Gate 2 BTW. I am pretty sure it's in PST as well. There is no "hypothetical" here, so my only conclusion is that you think Baldur's Gate 2 sucks.
  8. Was playing "lets chat with people on the BSN" because masochism is in at the moment!
  9. I don't know if I'd classify it as a full puzzle perse, but the Haunted House in that game is amaaaaazing.
  10. I think the words of some in this thread are actually pretty reflective of that
  11. I can count on you for good ideas! People want consquences right!? :D
  12. As someone that always found the D&D spell memorization system stupid and artificial, I disagree. Plethora of other reasons to love the old Infinity Engine games.
  13. This is what I always wonder when I see something like this: Why shouldn't they? Personally I'm not a very big proponent for stuff like this because I think the execution needs to be very delicate, and frankly find it more mature when such stereotypes (which I consider immature) aren't particularly rampant. JMO. At the same time, do you expect that people will look at your character differently based on the color of the skin you use? I suspect there will be cultural conflicts as they have highlighted that cultural differences exist within each of the races (or species I suppose may be more appropriate).
  14. I greatly encourage playing SR3 co-op. Sweet googly moogly was that fun. Favourite mission: Had to kill a guy, and to get him exposed I needed to pose as his helicopter pilot picking him up. As he gets into my helicopter, I hop out of it and base jump off the roof while my friend pops up from over the side and lights up the landing pad with the attack helicopter. I really wish we had videoed it in retrospect :D
  15. To be honest I missed the studio meeting where the announcement occurred (had a nasty fever and was out sick that day), so I actually don't know who is acting in Ray's place as the head of the BioWare label (which, for better or worse, includes more than the studio sections directly founded by Ray and Greg - Edmonton/Montreal and Austin). I'm not as familiar with the goings on in Austin, but Greg had made an announcement about how he needed to unwind and recharge probably in... March or so? At that point there was some chap that came in to fill in for him. Don't know his name. As for the Edmonton/Montreal studio, Aaryn Flynn has been the General Manager of the studio for a few years now. You can find his game log history for BioWare here.
  16. I think that's a great example of not thinking at all! (at least rationally ) The conversation with the TV is pretty awesome too. \
  17. Hmmm, that wasn't quite what I was thinking with regard to puzzles. Though it is a good attention to detail for their setting which isn't a bad thing. Though I think the key in the potted plant is maybe a bit of a stretch lol. I found it obvious Of course, if you had high detection (or whatever it's called), it also sparkles
  18. This is what I love about my country. Define "common." Perhaps the Canadian culture is one that cannot be strictly defined based on some type of profiling. Or ironically, our culture is more the lack of defined culture. Furthermore, perhaps this is ideal and your way of thinking is backwards?
  19. I'm sure many BW fans are much better at Towers of Hanoi! Which parts of Bloodlines are you talking about? Been a while since I last played it.
  20. This was a good read: http://ca.askmen.com/sports/fanatic/nhl-lockout-2012.html Looks like Joffrey and the Union are thinking more of a communist type approach as well. Instead of taking from the players, how about taking from some of the teams that are raking in the dough.
  21. We aren't sleeping on this side of the pond... :S
  22. This must have meant "combat" I personally feel that BioWare's games have always been a bit too combat heavy, going back to even the BG days. Combat as a means of conflict resolution is better, but I think I've typically preferred Black Isle/Obsidian stories due to what I feel is an improved focus on non-combat areas.
  23. Honest Hearts was interesting. Old World Blues made me laugh my ass off. I didn't care as much for Dead Money. I have heard good things about Lonesome Road though.
