  1. That Colonel assault perk that grants immunity to crit is amazing haha.
  2. Strange, I haven't killed myself yet. I must be doing it wrong! It's not like cultural extremists have EVER thought about killing themselves though, right? I give... a C-, but mostly for effort.
  3. Planescape: Torment
  4. Fair that some feel this way, but I feel many changed their tune as Steam evolved.
  5. Which reminds me of the outrage people had that Half-Life games (Half-Life 2 in particular) required Steam! I still remember the "Steam is a steaming pile of ****" when it first came out
  6. Agreed. They could do expansions/DLC/sequel and iterate on the systems currently in place. I heard rumors that someone found references to 60 day and 90 day DLC plans so I am definitely intrigued.
  7. Hey now. None of that shows that she has any understanding at all about Norwegian culture. I mean... she's Muslim!
  8. While in general I would say that the tactical combat is greatly improved from the original, this is bar none the most disappointing aspect of the tactical combat.
  9. Panic still has that "That's XCOM" moment. I had a squad chain panic as a guy panicked, shot his friend, who panicked, and shot is other friend, who panicked and shot the first guy. FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU XD
  10. HAHAHA yeah. I can't remember if I mentioned this in this thread, but I lost a sectoid commander because he panicked one of my soldiers who then promptly shot the sectoid in the face in response. FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU
  11. HAHA yeah. Stupid overwatch misses >.>
  12. If the article is true she is becoming quite the martyr. Though I'd hate for the Taliban Culture to have to deal with the fact that their women may actually want education!
  13. No release date at this time. Game is coming along and it's usually a pleasant surprise since I actually don't get into the main campaign very frequently, so after a couple of weeks it's pretty crazy how much can be done. Still a long ways to go though. Still, there's still a need to get some level of content up pretty quickly because it allows us to proof of concept whether or not some of the ideas are fun, and if not can they be iterated on or improved, or maybe just take the lumps and realize it's not as great in practice as it is on paper. (Part of the problem with DA2 is that this iteration time didn't exist)
  14. Yeah I find that strange too. Unless the idea that it might be leaked was intentional? Could be I suppose. I am surprised that something like this was able to happen. Although I don't think the code was multiuse for a single person (though I think people found ways around this).
  15. LOS is a bit tricky when you're in cover. You will always be able to look over short cover (half shield), but if you're on a corner of any cover, you will be able to look around that corner (and people will also be able to see you as well). I've gotten used to it, but it can take some getting used to.
  16. Yeah Suppression just seems so much better than the Shredder Rocket. Though I suppose on a really tough bad guy like the Sectopod, it's probably more useful. Support make great scouts and medics due to their perks. They are also great for shooting at people that you flush out of cover since they can do the double overwatch shot. The smoke is also invaluable if you find yourself in a precarious situation because you wanted to stun an alien, or just some bad luck and cover is now gone (or even if cover is still there). Deep smoke with -40 chance to hit really adds up with soldiers who are already at -40 with tall cover. Hunkered down guys can be as low as -120 chance to hit.
  17. I like 2 assaults and 2 support.
  18. I'm not watching live, but most people seem to think that Obama has "come out swinging" this debate.
  19. XCOM and DA3
  20. Nationalities seem fairly random. Japan has probably come up the most frequent for me though.
  21. Rockets are also good for softening up groups. They won't outright kill that pack of mutons, but they'll take them all down to low health. I use grenades in the early game to take thinmen and floaters down to 1 health.
  22. "Cool story, bro" I have never heard this before! Your level of wit is only surpassed by your personal insecurities and xenophobia! How big of a man you are to still be constricted by antiquated perspectives, however! Although I suppose this would be the appropriate time to indicate that I wasn't telling a story and hence your usage of the meme is incorrect. It's probably a cultural thing though, so don't take it too personally
  23. The big problem for me is that I've kind of moved on past the game and I already own it anyways. :\
  24. Yes - complexity of the challenge is important to me. And when I see that remake goes from 26 soldiers to 6 I lose interests. I can't convince you otherwise. But as a long time XCOMer I love this change. 26 guys (most of whom are rookie dip****s that can't actually do anything and don't even get actively used in mission except maybe as scouts to exploit the fact that the original game doesn't factor in range at all when determining accuracy) does not equate complexity as far as I'm concerned. Frankly, your loss for skipping on it if that's your deal breaker.
  25. Rockets only destroy loot if you actually kill the guy. I love them for their HEAT ammo (which helps the rocket too). I took out an exposed Cyberdisc with a single shot one time with a Heavy Laser equipped heavy. Great for Sectopods too, especially with double fire ability. Their AOE suppression is also great, and at Colonel you can get an ability that makes your suppression cause damage. Very nice to suppress a Sectopod and watch the drones beside him just die.
