The concept is to stop myself from falling into the same traps and use your imagination instead of my stale ideas. MC, Boreal dorf rogue using Arquebus and possibly quick switch to warhammers when melee is needed. Base stats; Might 20 Con 8 Dex and Per 16 Int 8 Res 10 Random musing's; My reasoning for Arquebus' was the added range over pistol, slightly higher alpha damage too. I don't like to fully dump stats, consider this guy a crit ranged striker first and a melee attacker second, probably go dual warhammers till endgame and do abadons. I like quick switch early but mid to late game when my group has lots of active's it annoys me so I'd likely respec and get the faster reloading talents. I'd consider a Chanter tank for the reload chant (though I've never made a chanter main tank who doesn't eat dirt in seconds in early game, still I sorely want to see a chanter in action late game)... A cipher of some kind to help trigger death-blows.. I prefer something more original then a bow cipher but they do work so well... I like monk offtanks (I feel like having a Chanter and monk or even shifter-druid off-tank(stupid?) would be an interesting front-line, or possibly a Chanter main-tank and a ranger with a tanky pet for offtank? Anyway, what team would you stick a gun toting dwarf rogue with the occasional hammer in?

Me, Lady of Pain no recovery build. the wait for charge is a hellish slog but worth it, I love estocs and boreal dwarves plus bartender ring and kith enchant (thanks Boeroer) is amazing through the early to mid game. I immediately hired a priest, I like Durances attitude and story but I hate hate HATE priests with low dex. So much so that I wiull only consider him if I have a priest PC, with high dex. Eder; I am a newly budding voice actor with a decently varied and deep voice so Matt Mercer is a huge inspiration. I I only wish the video game industry was bigger in Toronto so I didn't have to settle for cartoon's, anyway. His interaction with my next npc is lovely too. PS I also have a habit of letting Eder meet and comment on every pet (Cat, Dog etc) to make him happy. Hiravias: built right hes a great bow using back line with sick aoe spells and if someone gets through to my backline his Stelgar form with specced wildstrike hits so damn hard, super satisfying. Loved the Wayfarer's hide on him. Him and Eder love to chat, and I love to listen. Aloth: Matt also does this voice, his stats are serviceable and wizards are insane especially once they get the black pages. I don't mind his story and I could have hired a better wiz but again Eder's admiration for Aloth's... less classy side is also fun. Ok, i'm noticing a pattern My Hire; a fire priest, I went with the Mecwyn variation cause I like the scepter and putting Envenomed strike on a wood elf high might priest is also a blast for when fire won't do. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/86277-class-build-fire-priest-ranged-sup-offdps/ Sorry Durance. And last of all the Juggernaut build on Zahua; this old stoner is hilarious too. once you get lvl 9 ish you could even put him on aggressive and just let him go he's that full (and fool) proof. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/82367-class-build-the-juggernaut-a-heavy-armored-monk/ Heavy melee group, great aoe and cc, can be very tanky, lots of fun story. Love it, starting to think this game is more about Eder then the MC however.

"Dual weilding frontline guy" (not main tank but backup) Works well for; Barbarian (mid to late game aoe monster), Fighter (great single target damage, very little micro, from start to end), Cipher (sick single target CC and utility), Monk (so many nice actives), Ranger (riptide build is awesome, great damage and some cc, awesome for the extra body too) Paladin (gets really tanky, some amazing alpha damage and some decent utility and healing, especially fun if you wanna be agressive and evil, check the Bleak walker build), probably the easiest to play without dying. On normal the npcs wont be too bad that you will need to roll new hires and to be honest they have so much to add to the story, I wouldn't even consider it until I've done a fwe playthroughs and started craving POTD etc. GL HF!

I want to love rangers but my experience with the npc ranger is the Snow Fox dies a TON regardless of how late it enters combat etc and I hate the debuff. I know there's certain micro's im bad at so I just accepted I'm no ranger but I want to try one badly as the stormcaller or gun burns builds look so good!

Barbarian is an ok choice.Your stats spread will depends on your party composition and the weapons you are going to use. I'd advice one of the following: - Frontliner DPS | Great Sword (Tidefall) 20/10/18/10/15/5 - Frontliner DPS | Estoc (Blade of the Endless Paths) 15/10/18/10/15/10 - Frontliner DPS | Dual-wielding Sabres (Purgatory or Bittercut) 15/10/15/18/15/4 - Frontliner CC | Dual-wielding Stunning Spears (Cladhaliath) 15/8/15/18/15/7 - Midline CC | Pike (Tall Grass) 13/8/18/18/18/3 For armor: Plate; For feet: Shod-in-Faith (if you choose a high Mig/Int variant) For party-members: Priest (with Painful interdiction), Paladin (for emergency Shod-in-Faith), and 1-3 of: Cipher, Druid or Wizard for stuns. Succinct and accurate, listen to this guy. Just know the Barbarian will REALLY shine later.

If you want to retry the wiz I have some tips; Consider that respecs are cheap at the inn, at lower levels Perception > Dex for casters as you dont have to speed up casting when you only have a few spells. With high might, perception, and a decent int and con and the blast talent you become a great aoe ranged character and can still be a nuker against less "trashy" mobs. Some people also like taking classless magic missile ability, sorry I forget the name, it allows you to have 1 per encounter of a slightly lesser magic missle so with that and arcane assault and the blast talent youd have lots to do early game without worrying about burning through spells. I tell you all this because "with knowledge" of spells and builds the wizard is by far the most powerful class. That being said it really isn't the best first class as that knowledge comes with a few play-throughs. Druids are pretty great at everything, melee in spiritshift form, some buffs and debuffs, and by lvl 5 some great aoe dmg. But they can be accidentally not built sturdy But lets stop guessing, druids, barbarians, chanters, wizards, and ciphers all have some type of aoe ability that helps vs trash mobs, lets narrow down your playstyle. -------------------------------------------- Druid- nature shapeshifting caster with some neat area of affects centered on caster (and ranged) Cipher- better at ranged but totally viable melee, needs to do physical damage to power spells but doesnt need to rest, early game has great single target CC and damage Wizard, the more you know about their spells the better, start paying attention to what defensive stat spells attack , Deflect, reflex, will, fort etc and cast versus them or weaken them first in combos. For example dont just pick all spells that do damage you might end up with only the ability to attack fortitude then run into a monster with super high fort and feel like your caster sucks, that was one of my rookie mistakes Barbarian, low maintenance aoe but late bloomer and really requires smart setup with weapon and starting stats Chanter, slow constant damage with interesting bursts when he can use his powers, I dont play them much though. Monk, actually can do almost everything but very micro intensive. They have a neat aoe kick for example, an attack speed buff, a pushback, but they need to take hits to power their abilities so if you dont make them sturdy or have lots of self healing you could gimp them Not sure what else I am missing. Is RolePlay important? To be honest on normal you can make a character with almost any stats. My current addiction is accuracy and attack speed on any class, If I dont have high dex and perception I dont like my main character regardless of how powerful he is. Thats just my self discovery about how i like to play this game however.

Yes a limitation is you cannot queue just one attack, a shift click on a target means "hit this till its no longer a target" where an ability shift click just means "use this ability one this target". Also if your first target is not a click (without shift) things can get messed up sometimes. Anything that makes the target disappear or change its targeting to green cancels any queue as stated above too. I've ALSO noticed that you cannot use hotkeys, you must click the ability. This was fixed in Tyranny but not updated in PoE.

Lets say you are playing potd, have a fighter and paladin tank and either a gun/sabres swap rogue or possibly hunting bow sabres... What would you do/build for the rest of your party to trigger deathblows easily? I'm thinking Wizzie/cipher/priest and counting on the ciphers eyestrike and or phantom foes would be the easiest route.

I typically hire one companion in GV till I get Sagani, but on the occasional playthrough I find I love the hire more then I wanna hear Eder swoon over Itumaak. Last surprise was a Wood Elf pure dex/perception rogue that was supposed to be a mechanics bot but ended up being a pistol packin' momma that just destroyed single targets. (Probably the first rogue I enjoyed, mostly because she was all pistol spec and ended up with bittercut and the quickswap belt for melee lulz... St Garam's Spark also helped mark for my melee PC too which was a lovely side effect and she really loved Kana's reload chant.
