I'm willing to bet they just grab VO from different localizations, which they naturally can't do for Lara since her voice would change per language

No, that the text snippets used to describe responses in many modern RPGs are insufficiently descriptive for a significant portion of the audience. While we're at the subject of reading, it's the point you'd not miss if you actually did. (Incidentally, English happens to not be the only language used on this planet) I don't think frustration is a good replacement for boredom, generally speaking :-P

*shrug* I get these: You're ... Still completely missing the point tho
-
You guys do realize that the whole point of this discussion is that the less information you give in a dialogue choice, the more difficult it is to correctly guess what was the writer's intent, right? Just write "Glass him" in google search to see why it's a valid example. Showing us how smart you are by telling us that you understand the intent just serves to reinforce the point.

Incidentally, not entirely sure when, but the original Desperados game received a patch from THQ to make it compatible with modern operating systems - never could get it to work in Win10, works like a charm now.

System Shock: Enhanced Edition just got a massive update, converting the whole game to a new engine. So we get native widescreen resolutions, rebindable keys, much smoother viewport etc. Good stuff.

Here you go , sort of.

More Darkwooding. The nights are getting quite tense, but I figured the strategy of scared chicken seems to work quite well against evil lurking among the trees. ... It'd be nice if days were't getting creepier the further I get into the forest either, but they kinda do. Good news: I might craft an actual gun soon enough! Really damn good horror game, this one.

'course it was an action, that's not really the issue here. 'Action' doesn't necessarily imply 'Gutting people'. The term 'Glass him' is the issue. I am certainly glad that you, good sir, are familiar with all world's languages and phrases but I, lowly dumbbutt, have never heard the term before playing The Wolf Among Us. Something like 'Attack him' or, better yet, a brief way to describe what's about to happen upon clicking the choice would be much preferrable (or even graphical representation - Dragon Age 2 at least had the right idea with putting the little icons next to dialogue options, regardless of how good the game actually ended up being.) I mean, that's the whole point of this whole discussion, eh?

I'm reasonably certain that'd be a response of most people that wrote lines which then lead to something entirely unexpected by a large part of their audience. You've nailed a big part of the problem right there and then.

Well, if anything that appears today is better that what we had yesterday, then "Tomorrow" must, by definition, be a better one.

... And disconnecting the bloody LEDs kills your warranty. Thankfully, you can disable the ****e on most hardware via drivers, with varying amounts of work required.

Giving Darkwood another shot. I got quite far into the game the last time I played it, but got frustrated by swiftly running out of resources and feeling stuck. On the second playthrough I'm able to deal with the nights a lot better (even survived a banshee attack in the first hideout!) and don't fuss as much over dying so I even tend to investigate events around the hideout during the night. A really bloody well-designed horror game. And I love what it does with the top-down perspective. Aside from that, I've put Star Traders: Frontiers on a short hiatus, want to get back into it once the Xeno faction gets expanded (one of the two development goals I really wanted to be reached for that game) and am still working through Shadow Tactics But there's a thing happening!! How else would you, the player, notice!?

Anyone willing to help me out found a game to buy/play?

It's a turn-based strategy game. Edit: Well, more like tactics thing -

Me not being able to stand jRPGs, from what you listed, Valkyria Chronicles would be my choice of day. It has unique combat style, unique take on "fantasy world war II" and very likable cast, with minor amount of Japanese shenanigans thrown into the mix. Do check out some videos about the game if you are not sure if you would like it or not. -
You enter the any of the fortresses and press whatever button you press to select from unlocked vehicles - you're looking for the buggy

The Surge got added to Origin Access, so I'm giving that a proper shot. It's a very decent sci-fi take on Dark Souls.
-
It's a fast-paced open world shooter by Avalanche Studios, who also developed Mad Max, which happens to be the only Ubisoft-styled open world game that I've ever really enjoyed. I don't think original Prey was that popular, really. It definitely wasn't nearly as good at any rate. Anyway, if you put aside the fact that the new Prey does actually have original Prey's IP, if I weren't following all of the crap surrounding its acquisition, I'd just think it's one of those games that has the same name like an older game - and that's not exactly rare.

You produce some exquisite poop if I may say so myself, dear sir.

"This is Bob. He's CD-Project Red's chief blur manager. His job is to choose where does all of our very limited blur budget go to." "God damnit, Bob, you're fired." -
Well yes, that was precisely my point. Well not that their aim was to defeat you, because ultimately, it wasn't - if AI in FEAR was designed to defeat you, player character would be dead upon turning a corner. It was cleverly designed to be fun to play against.
-
Yet FEAR's AI wasn't actually particularly clever, it was simply cleverly scripted within constraints of rather linear levels. Heck, people tend to laud Half-Life's AI, yet it was quite literally a simple state machine. Good AI isn't one that'll defeat players consistently - on the contrary, good AI is one which'll provide decent challenge while being fun to play against. With that in mind, OpenAI uses machine learning to 'grow' - and I don't think it necessarily needs to learn to beat all players that play against it, but rather to be 'fun', if being 'fun' can be put into a set of rules (like unpredictability, win:lose ration on set difficulties etc.)
-
All right, turns out Star Traders: Frontiers is basically WH40k: Rogue Trader: The game. With some Dune thrown into the mix. It's progressively growing more and more on me.
