Pathfinder Kingmaker is bigger then Deadfire
Fenixp replied to no1fanboy's topic in Computer and Console
Well in that case I tip my hat to your exquisite memory, good sir. No wonder you don't need any in-game helpers. -
Every time there's a Thief event in Ass Creed Syndicate, the thief has always been a woman stealing from a man in my game. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be insulted that it's SJW inclusive BS or also insulted because it's misogynist propaganda. Either way, I'm insulted, because I want to!

FAKE NEWS I'm actually a violent sociopath. -
... Which also wasn't very good.

Well it is ages since I played, but don't you get to write down monster statistics after trying different approaches on them the first time around? (which is precisely what Pillars does - it'll just print a question mark on defenses when you encounter something unknown) And since I assume combat log which prints all rolls is a thing that exists in Kingmaker (would be pretty crappy if it weren't), not showing known defenses on attacks that you could get obnoxiously by calculating known values is a pretty crappy UI design. -

Well that's why PoE also gives you an option to disable that information, which I feel is fair enough. If we're talking PnP, enemy weaknesses and strengths always had to be completely transparent as you were doing the maths yourself, and the 'figuring out' bit was dictated by being clever, not by purposefully obscuring rules. If me and my DM did a roll which a monster would fail and then the DM would proclaim "A-HA! But the monster has a hidden power!" I'd smack him and you would too. When a game doesn't even give you an option to make those rules as transparent as possible and it pretends to be faithful to PnP experience in any way, I'm just going to consider it a UI flaw (especially when disabling those UI elements tends to be a rather simple programming, and putting a checkbox in options menu is also not exactly rocket science) -
I'm ... Pretty sure that if this DLC were to either significantly delay or endanger future of other projects of the studio, they'd not release it. 'sides, if the next game is in stage of concept or early stages of programming, scripters, some designers and artists won't be able to particularly contribute to development anyway, might as well do something that'll help the company in different ways.

They've got surprisingly good VA going on in the mod, impressive.

Well, to be fair, just because Fallout did it doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea y'know - it does seem like a whole bunch of people consider every single design decision of these old RPGs a good one, even when that's blatantly not the case. -

I still remember installing a fan patch for Arcanum years ago which, among other things, removed level restrictions for random encounters, because level restrictions are for filthy casuals, right? It was a chief lesson in me starting to appreciate *some* form of level scaled content implemented in my RPGs, because having to save before setting off and then having the game randomly forcing a reload along the path because of unbeatable encounters was not exactly my definition of "Fun". Or "Meaningful" for that matter. -

Wait, so Pathfinder got rid of saving rolls vs AllKindsOfStuff? I've no clue, never used the system -
The Banner Saga is trying to pretend that's not the case, but ultimately, it's a really captivating linear story with some good turn based battles thrown into the middle of it. If you enjoy Norse mythology, can appreciate plot that's seldom seen in videogames and enjoy looking at pretty pictures, you can't really go wrong with it - but it's not what I'd consider a must-play. Still, the music's bloody ace. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdJ913xkTPE

Let's go in the order of appearance through my library, picking only games with stories worth a look: Alan Wake, The Banner Saga, Bastion, Bioshock: Infinite, Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, Sleeping Dogs, Spec Ops: The Line, Transistor, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, NieR: Automata, Prey, The Walking Dead, Freespace series as a whole, SOMA of course. Then there are all of those unknown games, like Silent Hill series or Planescape Torment. These are only games that I've finished, that presented stories I've enjoyed and that either don't have multiple endings or all of their endings are arse to some degree.

Pictures of your Games 11 - The Quickening
Fenixp replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
Yeah, generally speaking, you probably want to play an Ass creed game on a pad. Dunno about the newest one, but Syndicate for instance tracks your movement speed in a whole slew of actions, and fine control over that is just better on an analogue stick regardless of assigned keys. -
"Hey, Bob, our physics engine's acting up again, negative floats get passed into the calculation for whatever reason and corpses just get flung into space. It's quite rare tho." "Man, screw it, fixing that crap would take far too much effort." * An "analysis" 10 years later * "As you can see in this game's brilliant portrayal of human transcendence into higher planes of existence, only the worthy get the privilege of ascending. This is, of course, intentional - developers wish to show us that moral and unique people exist on both sides of any given conflict."

On one hand, I get the sentiment - since he helped with the game's success, especially in its early days, Sapkowski does deserve to get more of a payoff. After all, civic laws exist to protect people, even from their own mistakes. On the other hand, his condescending remarks on the games since day one and the ridiculous sum he's asking for while threatening with a legal action makes me wish he doesn't see a single penny.

Well, in theory, X: Rebirth was my dream game. I always basically wanted a Morrowind in space and Rebirth focused on immersion a lot more than X3. Sadly, in spite of it being an economics simulator at its heart, X3 remains my favorite Morrowind-in-space kind of thing to this day as, while it is an economics simulator first and foremost, it also does a pretty good job of immersing the player, offering meaningful choices and a living universe (as opposed to stuff like Freelancer or Dark Star One which are... Well, decent, but not really what I want as they focus primarily on combat.) See, X: Rebirth wanted to focus on a different audience than X3 focused on and improved on a whole array of immersion-building mechanics all across the board. Walking around your ship (sort of), walking around space stations (and the space stations are still the most impressive ones I've seen in a game, bar none) - I didn't even mind stuff like only being able to pilot a single ship or fake traffic around said stations. But... All of these exteremely impressive mechanics were either half-arsed or didn't contribute to gameplay in any meaningful fashion (how fun is it to travel along a spess highway for the xth millionth time, really? And don't even get me started on station scanning...) So uh... I suppose I've got Star Traders: Frontiers (gotta plug that as much as possible, it's fantastic) now, which is as close to my dream game as possible, but... The production values just aren't nearly there for me. So... Maybe X4 will be it? Maybe?

Judging by pretty much anything by Egosoft, it'll definitely disappoint on release. Give them like a year of post-release support and it may become great. ... Or it'll be another Rebirth. Then again, Rebirth's biggest crime was that 70% of your time playing was occupied by doing mindless chores, whereas X3 just ended up being a lot more compact and smooth in comparison.

All right, as a person who has not enjoyed a single Ass Creed game in my life except for Black Flag (and in that one, I only really liked the naval stuff), I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I'm digging Ass Creed: Syndicate. I bought it for the London and stayed for the fun - they finally implemented both good stealth mechanics and actually meaningful combat system, so ... Y'know, the gameplay bit of the game is really good aside from the virtual tourism bit of it. It helps that the game doesn't take itself seriously at all, main characters are quite likable in their comedy routine and the game doesn't constantly nag you about collectibles (aside from percentage score in the main menu it seems to have stopped caring about them altogether, which is good).

Ha, that'll do

There's an idea, thanks. I use avatars to recognize people and I've disabled sigs pretty much the moment I registered.

Well having half the screen covered by rows saying "Post is hidden" is pretty annoying ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
Even tho people not getting severances sucks big time, I don't think the 'partners' tweet mentioned are exactly interested in helping fund those.
-
*related* I made a Sonic removal script, so my videogames news page looks like this: It does apply to all ignored users, incidentally. You just install Tampermonkey for Chrome (I think Greasemonkey for Firefox is pretty much the same thing) and add a new script which follows: 'course, only works on users from ignore list and all it really does is remove the 'post is hidden' thingy

At that point, wouldn't a "Add XP and items equivalent to X hours of grinding in Y location" make more sense and ... Well, consume less power?
