RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - VISUAL NOVELS ALLOWED
Fenixp replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
"You don't want to play soldiers, kid, war was hell." "Well you should tell us more war stories, grandma!" "These things are not for young kids to hear, but very well, young should learn from mistakes of their grandmothers. It was one of those warm evenings of '44 and my unit dropped in the middle of enemy territory. I still get flashbacks from that horror-filled night. When I jumped out of the plane, I knew I'd be done for as my parachute refused to open. Luckily, I saw a jerry plane on my way down, so I swooped in and stepped on its wing. The bloody jerry bastard was doing his best to chase down an allied fighter, so I did what any soldier would do - grabbed my trusty gun, shot his ****pit open, grabbed him by his jacket and threw him out of the plane, then learned to fly the plane and shot down three other enemy fighters. It didn't end there though. Kids, war is hell. When I looked at my fuel gauge, I found that the tank is empty. I'd never call myself a hero, just a gal trying to survive in the face of that merciless bitch Death. So I ended up doing the thing you do if you want to survive - I jettisoned out of the plane, but not before I've let it glide towards a menacing panzer. Oooh what an explosion, I could have sworn I've seen bones through my skin. Even then I got no rest for I landed feet-first on an allied jeep. Naturally, I've lost my pistol when I took the plane, so I was forced to start mowing Jerries down with my '80 cal." -
It does, right? I can't quite put my finger on why exactly, but I've had a feeling of "This feels like Arcanum" multiple times while playing Deadfire.
-
So, Deadfire. It's an Obsidian RPG. Obsidian RPG is precisely what I pledged my money for, so I'm entirely satisfied. The game is a sequel in the sequelest sense of the word - it's a bigger and better version of PoE 1, improving upon it in a whole bunch of ways, but at the same time not having the 'wow' effect the original did on me. Which is entirely to be expected and I'm having a great time sailing Deadfire Isles, so ... That's all good, right? And, to have something to counter a slow-paced RPG, I've given Bayonetta a second shot. The game has finally clicked with me and now I'm having a blast playing it. I still think it's a little bit overly complex for its own good, but it turns out there are many ways in which you can tweak its mechanics and very much build up your own playstyle, so that's awesome.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - FREE WHITE HOUSE MONTAGE

That's what I said when I said "board game [snip] monetization scheme" :-P -

*shrug* The grand strategy games Paradox sells are effectively board games (albeit extremely complex) - might as well keep up a similar monetization scheme. -
I always love seeing "Multiplayer" tucked away somewhere in stretch goals. "Also, give us a tenner and we'll add a multiplayer to this game that's exclusively SP thus far. No biggie. If you throw in 20, we're adding an optional RTS mode."

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - FREE WHITE HOUSE MONTAGE

It's not about complete experience per se, with War of the Chosen, it's about getting a very different one. While getting the full experience seems to be a good choice, I'd recommend playing vanilla (perhaps with the couple of DLC released for it) and only when you're done with that giving War of the Chosen a shot. At any rate, waiting and buying a fully patched version of a game cheaper is always a good choice, unless you want to support a dev/game. Edit: Hurlshot'd. -

There's hitchhikers around the road in GTA V who'll give you little side-quests if you pick them up. Trevor gets an optional objective for each and every one of them to bring them to a cannibalistic tribe in exchange for money. -
That's what you'll always publicly claim unless you're a massive arse. It's like interviews with actors who'll always say "I just loved filming the movie. The script was so great I just had to take this role!" regardless of actual quality of the end product.

Well if Obsidian does actually violate employee rights in any meaningful way, I'd say pursuing this via court is the only reasonable way of recourse as status of videogame industry employees is far more important than a company releasing videogames (and I did actually back PoE 2) On the other hand, if this is just a petty attempt at trying to drive a company to bankruptcy by dragging it through courts, that would be a whole bunch of people without work all of the sudden. Don't worry tho - those people won't disappear, and if they love their jobs, they'll make do elsewhere.
-
Fair enough, some goats have disappeared from a farm nearby and I know for a fact that women strongly dislike having their butts smashed by severed goat heads (a dislike which had to be cultivated in some way, correct?), which is all proof I need to know for a fact that you murder goats and run about smashing female butts with their severed heads.
-
Anybody badmouthing anything without a whole lot in the way of evidence is bad by default, pretty much. I mean, I know for a fact you, Mebrilian, murder goats and run about smashing female butts with their severed heads, but I'm not going to spread that stuff around without photos, am I?
-
Obsidian doesn't even create RPGs anymore anyway, the trash they produce doesn't even use 50 stats to calculate damage of a spoon that slips from the hands of an actor.
-
I'd argue it's not 'despite' but 'because'. I think majority of people enjoy feeling of progression, not gamification of accounting that RPGs tend to be - and STALKER nailed the feeling of actual progression without using any numbers that players would need to calculate through.

Playing Mad Max again because... It's actually really fun. Yeah, Crysis 3 was really neat. It was clear they were kinda exceeding their budget towards the end of the game, other than that tho, individual scenarios had quite a lot of personality and offered some really fun encounters. And the storytelling was fun at least, even tho the story itself made no sense.

RPG-32 is apparently preferred by Russian army, so it would be my choice too as they most likely know their ****.

Just out of curiosity, are you using M+K or a gamepad?

How Do I make Multiple "Entry Points" in a .NET CORE app?
Fenixp replied to Xarzu's topic in Developers' Corner
If you want to generate an executable, you do: dotnet publish -c Release -r win10-x64 "r" means "runtime", here's a list. By default, .NET Core compiles into a .dll which can then be executed on any platform supported by .NET Core (via dotnet "appname") You can't have multiple entry points into an executable application. Even web applications contain a Main which builds web host. Edit: Incidentally, https://stackoverflow.com -

The sky isn't even blue in those screenshots. *sulks* -
Actually, it's pretty impressive that the plane doesn't just fall apart after hitting an obstacle and is tries to react to them properly. Fails spectacularly, least it's funny tho.

I really felt like vehicles handled progressively worse since Far Cry 2 onwards - and they already handled pretty poorly in Far Cry 2 so that's an achievement in and of itself. I'm yet to play 5, but apparently, the trend continues.

The sky is blue. FC 2 can be rather colorful when it wants to. It ... Doesn't most of the time. Because brown was cool. It works reasonably well for the game tho. -
It's broken more like. I mean, it works and you can hide in the environment and such, but... Get silenced guns for killing people silently, 'cause machete won't cut it without people you're murderizing yelling before death. AI doesn't see through bushes, luckily. Some missions are manageable via stealth alone. Most... Aren't.
