You need to be able to cast level 3 spells, a good class to start off in is wizard. Throw in a few levels of fighter so you can gain some of the fighter feats. This is what I did.

The blood mages area swesome. Love their "spells".

I didn't care much for the hair colors. There was no red or bright red that I could use for streaks on black hair.
