I don't know about the Deus Ex machina thing. I haven't seen Crossroads 1 yet but I'm rewatching the entire series from season 1. I'm at "Rapture" now. Every character has a logical progression in their behavior, from Lee going from obnoxious Viper jock to Holy Knight of justice to Starbuck going from ****y hot shot pilot to depressed, suicidal frak up. The changes in behavior are directly related to the events of the show, the hardships, the deaths, the intensity of battle. Lee was suicidal at one point in Season 2. Why? Well he said it best in Final Cut. Pilots have lost familly, friends, jobs, lives to the cylon. They have to go through the same emotional roller-coaster as anyone else in the fleet but on top of that, they need to put their own life on the line every day. They help the fleet but who helps them? A Cylon priest? Pff. That does take it's toll on one's moral and conscience.

If you were George Lucas

Now that is sacriligious. -
There's this book I read. It wasn't a novel, more like a history book of some such. It was called "The story of Jesus" or something. What I remember most about the book is that, not only did it tell the story of what Jesus did during his 15-20 years absence from Bethlehem, Jerusalem and this part of the world(in the Bible Jesus dissappears at around 15 years old and comes back at 32, doing miracles and then... dying.) but it also proposed that Jesus didn't die on the cross but rather fell in a "short" coma, got up 2 days later and walked out of his tomb, with the help of his mother and his wife who were weaping outside and heard the rumblings behind the stone door. Meh. Sand, I thought for you religion was a private thing that should never be public. Why are you asking this this morning?

Bennett is the Freddy Murcury, lead singer from Queen?!?! I cant believe Im just learning that. IIRC, Bennett was kinda buff in the movie and I thought Freddy was a frail-ish fellow. It was not Freddie Mercury. Vernon Wells also played bad guys in Mad Max 2, Weird Science and Innerspace.

major let downs of the new trilogy
astr0creep replied to Knights&Darths's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Another let down? Anakin being good and turning evil because he was forced to turn in order to "save his wife". See, I would've made Anakin the main villain of Eps 1, 2 and 3. Not Palpatine. Palpatine is a shadow ruler and I would've left him in the shadows. We knew he was pulling the strings in Eps 4, 5 and 6 without all the boring political details of the PT. I would've written Anakin naturally able to use the force effectively without training, using ObiWan's teachings only to gain power, access to the Jedi Council and eventually meeting and allying with Palpatine at the end of Ep 2. Ep 3 would've been the clone wars, showing the tactical prowess of Vader in how he wipes out the Jedi. -
If you were George Lucas
astr0creep replied to SilentScope001's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If I were George Lucas, I would act as consultant to everything Star Wars. I would let a producer of my choosing find directors, writers, lawncare technicians, etc to work on movies, tv shows and games. From the highest tower of my secret castle in the peeks of the Himalayas I would supervise my empire of toys. -
What properties would you like to see games made from?
astr0creep replied to Oerwinde's topic in Computer and Console
A healthy mix of NWN2 party/dungeon hacking and Freelancer. I'd like to see a revival of the Police Quest series. Not sure how it would be done as an RPG though. You start off by creating your detective and then go out on investigations of adapted real-world crimes. -
I come to these boards for the community only. I barely touched NWN2(bugs) and I felt KotOR 2 was rushed to a point that it hindered my enjoyment of the game. This forum is the best managed forum I've ever been to. The community is tight, smart and funny, irrelevant posts or posters are quickly removed or reprimanded(compared to other places), all the features are easy to use, the interface is clean, simple and attractive. For these and many other reasons, I don't know what I would do if Obsidian would close shop and these boards would go away. I'd probably try to use my blog space to reproduce a similar experience as I get here because the other forums I visit frequently, BSG and some french newspaper forums, are not nearly as smart and interesting as this one is. Not by a long shot. In any case, I would certainly be very sad.

I would just obey whatever orders Locke would bark at me. He knows survival!

I will always remember him from 300... :D Virtuosity, with Denzel Washington, is the only movie in which I recall Russel Crowe in before Gladiator. And Tomb Raider is the only movie I remember Gerard Butler in before Phantom of the Opera. I've never seen Phantom but I remember thinking "why?" when I learned Butler was playing the title character as I remembered him in Tomb Raider, a very sucky movie in it's own right. He is definitaly climbing that ladder.

Every woman out there that expects a man to spend 3 months salary on a diamond ring, for any reason, should watch Blood Diamond. I was especially excited about Archer's explanation of the diamond industry to Maddie. I was aware of this for a while but I never thought anyone would be gutsy enough to put it on film for the masses. I hope people take notice, remember and do something about it.

Try to get your hands on Dog Soldiers...

I thought Gerard Butler was scottish... New topic: Greeks with scottish accent. Discuss. Oh and I think I really want a beard like that! brows.gif

Agreed. I loved the first season. After that I steadily lost interest...it's still a fun show but not compelling enough to make me watch it regularly. The series starts to lose steam right after Resurrection Ship Part 2(S02). The pacing simply drops, the fillers come in and the story arc is left on the sides in favor of more character centric episodes. This not necessarily all bad, just very different from what we got used to during the preceding 47 episodes.

Borat. It was hilarious all the way until he loses the bear and his producer. After that it's boring. Wierd.

Last I heard a tv movie would be bridging the gap between season 3 and 4. As for season 4 only having 13 episodes, I don't mind at all. Season 1 only had 13. Less filler. And season 1 is the best of them all. Ron Moore(the creator of the series) said he had planned a story arc spanning 4-5 seasons. I would be happy with 4 seasons. It's already starting to drag on with lots of filler episodes and many plot holes that just appear out of nowhere, most notably the episode "Hero" and Helo's story arc(he just got promoted to CAG, as if Hotdog wasn't a better Viper pilot. Meh). By the way, 4 of the final five Cylons have been revealed in a spoiler thread on the official BSG forum. The poster was banned and all threads related to the original were deleted. I really hate myself for finding this out but if anyone wants to know, I'm willing to PM the results. It's a doozy though so be warned...

First, Locke doesn't want to leave the island. Second, he may not have blown the communications post on purpose. Although the C4 bit is very suspicious. Maybe The Hostiles got a hold of him sometime ago, assuming they are different from The Others. I thought Claire's idea was brilliant. If I'm ever stranded on an island I'm catching me some birds. Why did Mikhail thanked Locke?

We also learn who Jack's father's daughter is. Good episode. Seems like Locke got his balls back. EDIT: Or maybe he was just protecting his own little secret. That was really close too. It almost slipped...

I like the seagull best. Still pictures of moving water relax me.

All of the above methinks. "The Three Stages of Labor" My wife is pregnant with our first child and we began pre-natal classes last night. Best movie ever. Drama, comedy, some action and plenty gory. 10/10
