KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
astr0creep replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That's not a bad idea. But I don't want to think about the implications it has for QA And 40 hours is too short for any RPG. There should at least be the possibility of 100 hours of gameplay. -
I've been called a nutjob for saying the exact same thing last week. But your way of writing is better.

Played Battlefront2 months ago If you mean the SW version. Too similiar to the first for my tastes and I dont much care about the EPI-III stuff so the campaign was kind of dull for the most part. The big question though did you have to patch them <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I patched EaW yes. Took 5 minutes. I see your point concerning patches and I do wish they were non-existant but thats the market. And to me it's worth it because I just have so much more fun on PC. And Battlefront2 is much better than the first, which was a complete bore. #2 has Jedis, from Ayla Secuda to Darth Vader with and without the suit. The single player campaign starts at the beginning of Ep 3 until the Battle of Hoth. You have ground and space battles during which you can enter the hangar of enemy capital ships, get out of your Tie Interceptor and sabotage a Mon Calamari cruiser. It's a great Star Wars game.

Yes thats the one. I thought it was last season, sorry.

Yeah most of which are crap. The only one I'd say I've missed in Civ. What PC games have you bought recently ? There is far more crap on the PC than on any console because there are no quality standards for PC software. No thats the developers problem for being inept. It's not my job to make up for their ineptness. I dont buy a car with flat tires and expect some smart arse to tell me to inflate them myself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The standards on console have mostly nothing to do with quality. Most of the standards have to do with one console not being confused with another, on a legal level(a small example would be names of components, like Memory Card for Sony and Memory Unit for Xbox). And of course what is in the game has to work... mostly. The exception are flagship titles like Mario, Halo, Final Fantasy. Those have some real quality standards. And you have the usual bribes that allow some publishers to pass certification even though the game is very buggy and/or unfinished " To answer your question, I recently got Battlefront2 and Empire at War, thats this week.

They are.

And as far as the PS2 is concerned, some first generation games won't play on a PS2 if you buy the console today. Because consoles have versions too

Two big ones I can think of. 1. Lack of games 2. Lack of willingness to patch every bloody game you buy Being upgradable is a two edged sword. I know when I buy a console I'm getting 100% out of every game for the lifespan. Your probably looking at at least two graphic card upgrades with a PC over 5 years each of which will probably cost you the same as an entire console would. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1. I COMPLETELY disagree. There is a steady stream of PC games all year round. And most of them are better then console titles. 2. Thats your problem. You must be lazier than me, which is no small feat. Patching takes 5 minutes. And if you count mods with your patching, bring'em on. Upgradability is a 2 edge sword but again, only because of the $$$ factor. Granted, it's a big one and that's why I also have a PS2.

And it was a video. I still want to see that crumpled piece of paper pop up in the near future. Showing Jonathan doing Lois or something.

May as well be greek, especially if you don't have a scroll wheel. Which didn't exist at the first release of Halo PC, nor did I have one even until rather recently. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Being upgradable is actually one of the PC's strength. it's also why the console market has to rework itself every five years. To keep up with the PC's technologies. Scroll wheels existed when Halo PC came out. Scroll wheels have been available for like 10 years now. Do you mean on your PC? Again, $$$ is the only reason not to have a gaming PC. Or at the least to open your mind to other things. I prefer my PC but I still go on my PS2 often enough. it's really great to have both.

Yes, Lionel is Jor-El. Been Jor-El since last season. He's trying to be Clark's father. We still don't know what was on that picture...

Put your tower through half the stress I have put my oldest xbox through, and see if it still runs. I can safely say, as I pat the cracked-case-but-still-works-unit, it won't. Cracked PC case. Still works. Hell I even removed an entire side panel and it still works! Wow! <_< Compare ease with a literal transfer, same game to same game. Halo PC is a bear to get set up with anything approaching a logical keystroke setup. Halo xbox, plug the thing in and go. Aiming and shooting with a keyboard and mouse, I swear, how do you do it? I never could hit the side of red base with the thing. I can draw smiley faces in it with the xbox. Also, Has the carpal tunnel set in yet? ASWD, space, Q & E, left & right mouse buttons, scroll wheel. There's your precious Halo. 10 buttons. I don't know CTS, only CTF I got back to setting up four xboxes versus sixteen PCs. Far, Far less room required. I also prefer to play against people I know after all, instead of the strangers on the internet (No offense to internet gamers) You don't need a setup with a PC to play with friends. Same with XBox except that on PC it's free. Well, arguably the best fps there ever was was on a Mac. But I doubt you ever heard of Marathon. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know about Marathon but I never played it myself. Watched a friend play it. And it was a MAC joke. No need to seem offended.

I know I was supposed to have left but this struck a cord. 1- Portability : LANs on PC have been around since before DOOM, it's nothing new. People have been lugging around towers and monitors since way before Halo came out. If I would drop my XBox in the middle of the street, I would be just as heartbroken as if I dropped my PC. Gamers have a tangible emotional attachment to their gaming rig, console or PC. Its monetary value is secondary 2- Ease of use : I can play most games, including those complex RTS games you can't find on consoles, with 10 keyboard keys. How many buttons on the XBox controller? 17 counting 2 sticks. Also, comparing a first-person shooter played on console and on the PC is well... I won't say. Needless to say, NOTHING compares to aiming and shooting with a mouse while running, jumping, crouching, climbing with a keyboard. Key placement is also FULLY configurable which is rarely the case with a controller. 3- Multiplayer : On PC, you can play with hundreds of people online at the same time, on your own screen(no splitscreen crap). And most of the time, it's completely free. Something you can't have on XBox. Comparing PC multiplayer gaming with console multiplayer gaming is, well... I won't say. Price is a good reason not to get a gaming PC. But it's the only reason. Unless you're a MAC user, in which case see my Nutjob thread.

Mmmm Bumbelbee. If I was Hobotsexual I'd have a go around the block wit dat!

It's W. For "What the hell happened between Brad and Jenifer".

In an interview Brett Ratner said that Bryan Singer was better at X-Men than he was. So that right there confirms that this one won't be as good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> See, now this is too informative to be in the nutjob thread. If you would've said "I think that in an interview Brett Ratner would say that Bryan Singer was better at X-Men than anyone. So that right there means that Brett Ratner sucks." Now THAT is nutjob perfection.

I find off-topic topics confusing. Confusing as in a slight buzz and spinning of the brain in my watery skull. And then I write anything that seems logical to me and then I continue working before my boss finds out I don't. G'day.

I believe you can repair it with a disk repair kit. They are sold in any electronics/gaming store. Unless its the label side that is scratched. Then hope LA has that replacement program thingy.
-
Well Sky Pilot, what makes you think I'm a nutjob? Maybe I'm more almondy.
-
Yeah. So. Ok. I've been called a nutjob on these boards more than once and since I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one, here is a thread just for us. Go crazy about anything you want, rant, scream, theorise, write poetry, whatever you want. Within forum rules please :D Post early, post often, I think this won't last long... As a first, I think XMen3 will suck popsicle because Brett Ratner is overrated and from what I read he will be to XMen what Shumacher was to Batman.

Nope. If you sell more production does not become cheaper. How would that exactly go working. Do (in game-development) developers give back part of their loan if a game sells well? It can become cheaper if other ways of production are found... but that never happens with ALL productions in the world, nor would actually be fast after the first produced unit. Ok I'm not saying it right. You have 10 employees making 10 consoles a day at 10$/hour for 10 hours a day. You sell each console 300$. That comes to 2000$ profit. You double your production. You have 10 employees making 20 consoles a day at 10$/hour. That comes to 5000$ profit. Does that make more sense? Sorry. But you are wrong. X-Box 360 and PS3 will NEVER bring in profit on their own sales. Nor did the X-Box or PS2 did. As said before; the profit comes from the XX% per game sold tax, but never from a sold unit of the console itself... I won't argue with you here but I doubt they didn't make any profit whatsoever. I know manufacturers suck a lot of money out of the retail price and that more of that money should go to the Pub/Devs(mostly devs as pubs are just middle-men and should be considered as such) Wrong... again. The "other objects" you call are produced to make profit itself. A console is made to make profit with the extra side-products made for it. Exactly tell me what stuff is made for clothes, or what a construction company sells to add to your house's interior? Well for clothes I could argue with buttons and included accessories. Construction companies are more like services and they buy materials to do the job and the consumer pays for the ressources and the labor. You didn't mention cars so I assume it was a good example? Actually, almost every company does it this way. WHY do you think Blu Ray is so expensive now? Would it still cost this much next year? Not a chance! Why did DVD-players sold for $500 in the begin, and $50 now? Because their cycle is over or almost over. Nope. The reverse. They first make it expensive so people who really wan't it pay alot of cash then lower prices when interest takes off. You see it everywhere... with games, electronics, furniture, cars etc. Don't tell me you can sell a house cheap now because "later you can make them pay more" Offer and demand. If the offer is not enough to fill the demand, prices are high. if the demand is not enough to clear inventory, prices go down. Console do differ here because they keep the same price tag regardless unless a competitor drops his price, then you get a price war. Wrong... AGAIN . Just compare early PS2/X-box prices to the current ones (sorry I do not have numbers spare...) Ok. Here in Canada the Playstation2 is now 159.99$Can. and it was 199.99$Can before the XBox360 and the Xbox sells for 180$ but it was 249.99$Can. before XBox360. In both cases there was a first drop of 100$ or so, the result of the so called price war 2 years ago if I am not mistaken. The Playstation2 sold for 300$Can and the XBox 350$Can 2-3 years ago. Since the Xbox360 is 500$Can, I personnally expect the PS3 to be between 450$Can and 550$Can. Yes. Then why do you claim otherwise in the all of your posts? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because I don't take the proper time to reread my posts properly, a laziness I attribute to years of gaming. :"> EDIT: Actually, Nevermind. I just can't seem to say it right so I will leave now.

No. I play Gothic & Gothic 2 for a sense of freedom. Morrowind seems open but because you can't climb in that game, it's just as dead and dumb as any linear jRPG (which almost always have corridors even in forests!). Daggerfall actually had a climb skill, which was awesome. If you maxxed it out (and maxxed out running) you could run up against a house, climb up its wall with amazing speed and then fling over the ceiling like a rocket. Sometimes you had so much speed, the fall would kill you even if the house was a one-story building. ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In Morrowind you can jump! And you can jump so high and long that you can cover the whole island with one jump and then die when you touch the ground!

Nope. Me buying Product X won't make it cheaper for manufacturer X to make product X. The reduction of prices is because in the begin they sell at

Maybe he... I mean IT is diabetic and needs a chocolate bar. Or a good kick in the a** from his father. How the heck is he going to play without a keyboard?

Sith Bunny will be the new PC in K3 and the main quest will be that you have to find his missing carrot, which turns into a special lightsaber that can't cut, only penetrate or poke to the death. At the end of the game, for extra drama, Sith Bunny becomes a pair of slippers for Bastila. :D
