  1. I wanna say this also had egg white in it
  2. Made an approximation of bibimbap. Grocery store near me sells shaved steak and I marinated that in some Bibigo BBQ sauce and also cooked down some shiitake mushrooms in a miso soy mix. Fried an egg over easy and served it all with some fresh veggies; shredded carrots, green onion, cilantro, and maybe something else I'm forgetting. Big dollop of gochujang on top and kimchi and sliced cucumber on the side. A lime may have also made an appearance.
  3. Had some white sausages with pretzel and sweet mustard in Munich. The one bite I had was delicious but then my kids, who didn't want anything, ate the rest. At least I had the beer to myself. Probably the worst service I've ever had in my life though.
  4. I love the spicy mustard here. It's like wasabi or a horseradish but better. Father-in-law has been hot smoking whole salmons and we just been devouring them with some lemon, salt, dill, and mustard.
  5. Maybe we're finally getting sanctuary districts https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Sanctuary_District
  6. Went to Hermann Castle today at the insistence of my son. I wasn't eager, because while it was interesting the last time I went, I didn't think he would enjoy it. He wanted a marshmallow right before we left, and I gave it to him, figuring he'd at least have some fun hopped up on candy aisle marching powder. These were giant marshmallows, and I started regretting my life choices on the walk over to the castle. He was vibrating at a scary frequency—too much marsh and not enough "mellow." Anyway, my fears were a bit unfounded. He settled down by the time we got there and was super excited and interested to see everything. They really updated the castle, and it was a joy to walk through this time. It felt much more like a modern museum than the olde tyme castle it was during my previous visit. Highly recommend it if you're ever in Narva! The castle, not the marshmallow.
  7. Gongonzola, serrano ham, spicy salami, and Castelvetrano olives.
  8. Huh, I never thought people might have Prime Video without Amazon Prime. Seems obvious but it somehow never occurred to me.
  9. I'm ready to go home but still have another week here. The bright side of me being so bored here is that I've been able to teach my kids a little ASL and they're getting quite good at it.
  10. Give it whirl and see how you like it. I found you an actual recipe for them. https://thecookful.com/hard-scrambled-eggs-the-american-method/ Everyone in my house will eat those "rough" scrambled eggs but then they start differing from there and I like to tell them I'm not a short order cook. Wife likes sunny side up, son likes sunny side up, over easy, or over hard and smashed, daughter only likes scrambled and not whisked. LCD wins 90% of the time so we typically all eat what my daughter likes.
  11. My father in law has been making breakfast for the kids everyday but this morning he wanted to see how I make my daughter scrambled eggs because she hasn't been eating his. It's basically just because he whisks the eggs together first which she doesn't like. For those unfamiliar with non whisked scrambled eggs, crack the egg or eggs into the oiled, we use butter, pan and let it sit for a moment so the whites can set a bit before stirring every so often until the desired doneness. My daughter likes it with a dollop of this mixed in at the end This isn't necessary but if I add it then I can guarantee she'll finish it and ask for more. Son is a little easier as he likes his eggs multiple ways. Doesn't really matter though as he's mostly been eating oatmeal or crepes for breakfast.
  12. My wife often shows me articles about how millennials not only look younger than older generations did at their age but also younger than gen Z does as well. Dunno if that's just cope or if there's really anything to it but sunscreen and smoking/vaping are commonly cited reasons. Dunno, but I feel like I've mentioned this before. E: reminds me of a Brendan Fraser movie where he grows up in a bomb shelter and looks way younger than he actually is.
  13. Tried watching Ironheart again but could barely get through the second episode. I think I'm just going to skip this one.
  14. I always wore sunscreen as a kid and young adult and so did pretty much everyone I knew. We also covered up a lot more too. Now I try to avoid being out in the sun though I still do sunscreen when I can't, like the vampires in Blade.
  15. I've only ever seen one thing from Mr Beast and it was some game show. I turned it off because it felt so exploitative and gross. I also cancelled Spotify, which I actually use a lot but I've been on a cancellation frenzy. I had a fraudulent charge and cancelled my card and haven't cared to update my payments more than anything else.
  16. Cancelled Netflix, HBO, and Paramount Plus because I barely use them as they rarely have anything I care to watch anymore. About halfway through my "vacation" and my son keeps having bad reactions to bug bites. Wouldn't be so bad but he's awful at taking meds.
  17. I know everyone is dying to know how my salad turned out and it was great. I was able to find anchovies and improve my locally sourced dressing with that and some lemon and additional garlic. The in-laws had never had fired capers and they really loved them. It was a race between them and my kids to see who could finish them first. Now I'm back on the beach having carpaccio and sangria. I found the ingredients to make a great carbonara but my wife informed me that her dad can't have it so I'll have to think of something else for dinner. Probably a simple pasta dish with burst cherry tomatoes, garlic, EVOO, and basil. I'll probably just cook up the guanciale on the side and serve it as an optional garnish.
  18. Same. I already have them too
  19. Spent like an hour and a half going to every grocery store in town looking for anchovies. Only found one that was labeled as anchovy but it looks... fishy. Looks just like the sprats they keep trying to push on us but it's not even close to the same, I made that mistake the first time I came here. Ended up just buying 5 different kinds of Caesar dressing and hoping that one of them is decent enough or that we can punch it up enough to make it work. Update on the dressing. They're all a bit too sweet and this is coming from a fat, corn syrup American. My son really likes it though. I'll see what I can do to tone it down a bit.
  20. There's a little place on the beach here that we've been going to. I keep getting the same thing every time, a pitcher of sangria and beef carpaccio. I've been going a little hard on the carpaccio lately but it's been so good my in-laws started ordering it too. For what I actually ate today, I made some bacon and cheese ramen this morning. The bacon here is a lot different but it works well because it has a much less overwhelming flavor so I can go heavier on the meat. Then I just melt a slice of cheese into the noodles as they cook, was surprised I found an American "pasteurized cheese product" here but it really is the best for melting into ramen as it just dissolves without clumping or needing to be prepared separately.
  21. Trump has been costing me money since his first term. This is due to changes on itemized deductions for taxes.
  22. Only if it's frozen and cubical Even then all they have to do is chase him away with the COVID vaccine.
