....you're right KoTOR doesn't turn them into gods... Revan Fanboys are quite up to the task. Luke would kick the snot out of Revan. Plain and Simple. And to someone's point before about Yoda not being able to take Sideous, I encourage you to watch that duel again. First, Palpy tried to run away at the beginning. Then notice that their duel mirrored Anakin's and Obi's. Yoda held his own against Sideous up until he lost the "high ground." Yoda however was wise enough to realize that he had lost the "high ground" and retreat, whereas Anakin....well, we all now what happened when Anakin lost the "high ground."

Luke is whining farm boy who's father was considered to be the strongest force adept of all time....a trait which he then passed along to his son. Beyond that Revan's accomplishments pale in comparison to Luke's accomplishments. In the end Luke might break a sweat before he completely bitch slaps Revan.
-
He's Anakin-spawn and a farmboi to boot. Oh and he's as whiny as his old man. But not as angst-ridden thankfully.. And just so you know, I never read any of the Star Wars novels and I don't intend to either. Why not? I simply don't have the inclination - I'd rather just watch the OT and leave it at that. Sooo I've only Revan from Kotor 1&2 to compare to Luke from Episodes 4-5-6. And that's why Revan wins. Imho, of course. :D  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So your admitting that your opinion of Luke is ill-infomred? The KOToR games are all we have to base our perception of Revan off of. However, the movies are only a tenth of the material we know about Luke. Beyond that, the movies chronicle Lukes initial understanding of the Force and how to use it. Comparing Luke from the movies to Revan is like only looking at footage of Michael Jordan in High School and saying Julius Erving would PWN him.

Mara would bitch slap Bastilla first of all. And you're forgetting who Mara has in her corner....Luke Skywalker. I don't think that Revan is wiping the floor with "THE Jedi Master"....so by default Mara wins by a landslide.

This is always a tough question for me to answer .....although in the end I typically come down on the Blues side of things. I was sold on the blues the first time I heard Stevie Ray Vaughn's version of "Shake for Me" by Willie Dixon when I was 14. In a cruel twist of fate I learned he had died the previous summer and I never got a chance to see him live. However, for any of you who think that the blues is "boring" or "predictable" please take the time to see Buddy Guy if he's in your town. I'm not a religious man, but I'm fairly certain I had a religous experience the first time I saw Buddy live. I agree that Jazz as a genre has so many sub sets that it's hard to really look at as one catergory. There's the straight ahead styling of Redman( I recommend Live at the Village Vanguard and Beyond), the early fusion of Herbie Han**** (I challenge anyone to find a funkier albums than Head Hunters and the Fat Albert sessions) and the new jazz, bluegrass, funk style of bands like Bela Fleck and the Flecktones ( I won't even begin to talk about how amzing Victor Wooten is on the Bass) Of course there are many other mixes of styles in between which make it difficult to compare Jazz as a catergory vs Blues.

I recently re-located to Baltimore from Albany NY and I'm consistently amazed at the property values in this area. My sister just bought a beautiful 3,800 sq ft home on an acre of land in Albany for $349,000. Down here you wouldn't think of submitting an offer for under $750,000. Needless to say my wife and i care concerned about when, if ever, we're going to be able to afford to buy a home. And about the size of homes....I guess if you have the scratch to put up a 55,000 sq ft home than more power to you. However, even if I had that kind of money I could find much better things to do than build a home that I'll probably visit two weeks a year.

If you're not doing anything wrong, why worry?
Stewdawg24 replied to metadigital's topic in Way Off-Topic
I'm curious...how do you define "police state" in your book? Despite having local yocals from Houston spouting off about Camaera's in homes, the overwhelming majority of Americans, including our politicians, would never allow that to happen. As a nation we have our shortcomings, as does every nation, but to say we're anywhere near a "police state" or a "true totaliterian" state is ridiculus. I also find it interesting that the comments of a local Police Chief somehow become represenative of the federal governments feelings on the issue. That's like assuming how I feel about the death penalty if indicative of how the Governor of the state of Maryland feels about it. -
Given my Level 1 status is it possible I could be the "Jimmy Olson" of the Atomic Danger Squad?" I don't fight I just hang back and take pictures while you sling witty and topical remarks at each other. Eventually, I'll begin to realize the awesome potential of the powers that have laid dormant within me. Unfortuantley, I'll also come to the conclusion that my name includes the words 'Stew' and 'Dawg' thus rendering me useless in the fight against tyranny and sarcasm......

I like http://www.crucial.com/ they have descent prices plus they have a feature in the lower right hand corner of the screen called "Scan my System." If you use this feature it will tell you how much, and what kind, of RAM your computer can take. It will also make recommendations.

Regardless of whether you call it "cut content", "additonal content" or "bonus content" the fact remains it won't change the outcome of the game. In KoTOR 2's case I believe you get to see several romance plot lines closed up, the Bao-Dur remote vs GOTO thing will make more sense, and I believe in some instances you may see the PC leave Malachor with Atton or one of the other NPC's. Anyway you look at it you're not changing the end of the game. Kreia is not going to tell you she's your mother and the Handmaiden is your sister in the "Restoration ending."
-
I will concede that the content should have been included in the orig game, (along with the QA) however, if they were to release the missing content it would only flesh out the story and not change the ending. Essentially, the missing content amounts to side quests. Ultimately, the game ends the same way. Now, from what I undestand those side quests will help you make sense of the ending but it won't prevent you from playing KoTOR 3 (if they make it) and understanding what happened. This is exactly like Fable: The Lost Chapters and I don't see fans of that franchise "burning down" Big Blue Box and Lionhead because that content wasn't included in the orig game. The extra content was offered at a reasonable price ($20.00) and has sold fairly well. I think if LA adopted a similar stratedgy they would make a lot of money and make many fans happy. Although I'm all in favor of them doing this I have to say that the likelyhood of it happening is incredibly small.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force! I also agree that Falty Towers is Classic!

I think it's a given that everyone wants KoTOR 3, so you won't hear any arguements from me. What I'm saying is that if Team-gizka is succesful in re-creating the cut content it would be a great idea for LA to step in and negotiate a deal to sell it as a "Special Edition", much like Big Blue Box did with Fable: The Lost Chapters. I also believe that LA would realize they can't sell it at the orig. selling price but would offer it at 20.00 much like Fable. Again, this would require a minor investment on LA's part which could potentially lead to a serious windfall for them. It would also be a great Public relations tool by bringing the series back into the public eye and bridge the gap till the release of KoTOR 3.

Blackmailing always gives companies a good reputation " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unfortunately, it's the truth. LA holds alll the cards. I'm not saying that they wouldn't be reasonable with TG and make a fair offer, but in the end the fact reamins that it's their IP, which is the ultimate 'Ace up their sleeve' in these hypothetical negotiations.

If it's financially in their best interest to do so , Why wouldn't they? As I said it's a win-win. How much do you think it would cost to have Obsidian or LA personnel fix the issues with KOTOR 2? I'm willing to wager it would cost alot more than what they would have to give Team-gizka for their efforts. Remember LA holds all the chips. If they said, "We'll give you 100,000 dollars for your work." and Team-gizka said, "We want more." LA would simply remind them that it's their IP and that if they don't accept it they'll shut down their site. If LA was able to sell a "Special Edition" at $20.00 and sell 250,000 units, (which is fairly modest considering the orig sold 500,000 units on the XBOX alone in the first month at $50.00.) that's an additional $5,000,000 in sales. If you figure they give Obsidian a percentage and factor in marketing costs they could potetntially make another $2,500,000 on this title. In the end money talks and ....well you know the rest. Ultimately, it depends on whether LA has the foresight to try something like this. I'm sure there are a host of other legal issues involved regarding development and publishing contracts, but in the end it makes sense financially for all parties.
-
It would be in LA's best interest to step-in and make a deal with Team-gizka to release the patch. If you think about it, it's a win-win for everyone involved. Granted, I don't know how typical development contracts are constructed but I would think that if they cut Team-Gizka a flat check for services rendered and then put an addendum on Obsidian's original contract for a percentage of additional sales on a "special edition" everyone walks away happy. Team-Gizka gets paid for something they were willing to do for free, and LA and Obsidian see additonal profits from a "Special Edition" they sunk very little time or money into. I would be curious to see how Fable: The Lost Chapters sold, because I think that could give us an idea of how profitable it would be for LA.

Seattle got completely screwed in that game. I mean c'mon. There was no offensive interference on the touchdown to Jackson in the first. Rothelisberger didn't score on that touchdown in the second. And the phantom holding call on the pass to Stevens in the third that would have put them at the two yard line. I was actually surprised that the refs got the instant replay of the Hasselback fumble right. I'm a Bills fan and I was amped at the number of bad calls. I don't know if Seattle would have won but the refs definately took away all their momentum on two drives.

Catholics are consistently portrayed in a negative or "joking" light in the media. They have been the whipping boy for years now and in most cases deservedly so, but you don't see them taking to the streets, burning people in effigy, or threatening violence against those responsible for the satire. What I find funny is how the Muslim community has squandered most of the politcal capital it had amassed. I believe that from an American point of view most of Europe had been somewhat sympathetic to the Muslim Community until now. With this episode I believe many people in the EU nations are re-thinking their views of the Muslim Community. It's sad that this rather vocal part of their community is influencing how the world view's Muslims in general.
-
In your example of the Black Virgin Mary let me ask you a few questions....How many Catholics or Christians took to the streets threatnening to kill the artist? How many armed men with hoods over their heads surrounded the museum? Did Catholics and Christians threaten to kidnap various relatives of the artist?.....The answer is simple....none.

LA has been trying to hit modders for years. This would present a perfect target for them to take action. High School? Where did you get that? I am actually a college student, and advertising designer for two newspapers. I have an extensive online portfolio that is available for clients only. I have created various newspaper and magazine ads. I have produced and published shoppers, brochures, ads, corporate identities, etc...Hehehe... Regardless, at the moment, the mod is not out in distribution. That will be the solid evidance they need. Otherwords, they will wait until the mod's release. LA could have someone pull the mod apart, and then they will present it as evidence. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have a problem with you saying that Lucas Arts has been trying to hit modders for years. Have you ever been to the KOTOR 2 page on LA's site. Under the "Community" listing they link directly to StarWarsknights.com. I'll give you three guesses what kind of site that is......A site devoted to the modding of both KOTOR's. If LA was so down on modding why would they link to a modding site from their own site. If LA or Obsidian had a problem with this they would've shut down Team-Gizka a long time ago. In addition, if the restoration team is succesful won't that lead to additional sales of the game? So, let's think about this for a moment.....If the restoration project is successful Lucas Arts and Obsidian will make more money off increased sales and they didn't have to spend a dime for it......Now tell me again why LA or Obsidian would want to shut them down? Oh...that's right recognition......If team-gizka gets some well earned respect and all LA gets is potentially a couple hundred thousand dollars and a boatload of free publicity, I think George will look the other way.

NVidia driver required for Radeon Card???
Stewdawg24 replied to Darth Sun_Tzu's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Kotor 2 doesn't "like" the newer cat 5.11 and 5.12 drivers. I have a 9200 myself and recieved the same error when I had 5.12 installed. So I rolled my drivers back to 5.4 because that's what seems to work the best with KOTOR 2. -
ATi Catalyst driver problems
Stewdawg24 replied to Ice-Cold's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I have an ATi 9200 se and found that Cat 4.11 and cat 5.4 work the best. I know the newest drivers can cause problems with configuration. -
My wife's engagement ring set me back $4,700. And then there was the $20,000 gold flute, but then again she's a an amazing muscian and it's more of an investment in her career so I didn't mind.
