  1. Yes these are names of deities, and Priest can pick class talent for his deity, granting big bonus to +10 Acc for favorite weapons and some /rest spell. Skaen instead of spell grants small sneak attack, which with some other talents (Flick of Wrist and rogue multiclass) could have interesting results.
  2. I was thinking about something more organized. Like: Clubs (fast) Warhammers (Avg) Morningstars (Heavy) have higher interupts than other weapons of same size. Since that way if we decide to go for "interupts builds" there is big chance that there will be some clubs/warhammers over whole game, not just 2.
  3. In most of cases i think present state is better. Weapons - i dont mind present state (properties) of weapons, there is wide selection of weapons with different buffs. I like magic implements doing dual dmg, since that helps sometimes rangers (emergency scepter) as well as casters to deal with DR. Acc is easier to get then DR. I often end with Soldier or Ruffian weapon group since combo of good alpha strike range, and 1h and 2h in one weapon focus is too tempting. Weapon i am lookin for: X - 1h weapon with long interupt. If there exist talent "your interupts last twice as long" that would be tempting to try some interupt builds. 2H is not best choice for interupts imo. Legenary enchantments - 4th category of enchancements providing rare effects like spellstrike, drain, tripping, second chance, spellshield, bashing, coordination... all the cool stuff. Unfortunetly for each of it, we need to kill endangered spiecies and it is craftable after level 12 or something. Situacion when there is constant supply of cool greatswords, but there is one cool axe somewhere in the endgame is not ideal. There are some talents which mess with general use of weapons like deity favoured weapons, or Flick of Wrist. That is OP we need. Rogues: - The whole point of talents/abilities is "you hit harder, and live longer than enemy doing nasty things to them". No need to try to balance everything good with o bit of bad. Ciphers - This is idea of class that you mix right click with spells. Just sometimes need to release focus. There are some fast powers. Having soul whip on grants bonus dmg. WM2 is announced for January and some changes with that. We will see.
  4. I think that idea for Devil with Sword and Board is good, but i still dont feel good about it. Each class can do antything (range, s&b...) but some classes are just predestined to go one specific way. Like Paladin has this defenses bonuses, so using it for getting agro is more rewarding, while going for ranged paladin is a bit of waste. And rogue has a bonus of multiplying dmg, and not using that to deal even more dmg is a loss. Maybe S&B devil is the best we can squize from the tincan, but it is not the best use of rogue in the 1st place.
  5. For me interesting concept (no need to wait for PoE2) would be to give neutral offensive talent (for every class then): "Stunning Attacks - Your autoattacks critical hits stun enemies for short duration. " (there is also variation of giving it to specific classes in various forms like ranger's stunning shots) Reason: Advantage of caster classes is ability to mass stun group of enemies, so giving right clickers something similar could even things.
  6. I wonder how hard it would be to add some "This area is level 7+" here and there? That would probably be not so hardcore, and someone will definetly complain "Where is my feeling of freedom of exploration?!" Im talking just about verbal warning, not hardblock area. You can still try it is your hand. Over and over game people run into this fun areas like Craghold, Fire falls or skaen temple. So putting some warning could help some while not talking much anything from others.
  7. Rods & Staff? Wael deity have favorite weapons melee staff and rods, which is interesting combo (staff as reach weapon), and magic devices generally are dual dmg type which helps with dr.
  8. Chanter overhaul is interesting thing to see. One problem with Chanters is that other classes with level progression generally gets better at what they do. Like casters can spam spells more generously. But with chanter... if you use your high end chants to cast high end invocations it will take forever to charge. And that is counterproductive mechanic.
  9. Some ideas for PoE 2: Epic levels - not exacly epic, but shape of xp proression. In PoE characters turns into shape till level 9 when they finally get ready to do what we want, but soon after the game ends. So it will be good to have time to enjoy our build. Could be in expansion (optional) version with some dynamic level scaling. Godlike destiny - being PC godlike could result in some personal quest of earning god favour. Like in PoE if we are fire godlike Durance can tell PC that "You are also child of the Whore" (Dont talk that about my mother! ) and advice to pray in Defiance Bay Temple, and then we do the dragon quest and get some cool reward (like ability to breath fire). Companion love - Maybe it is Bioware curse, but loyality quests for companions are cool (in ME2 was really good) and could provide some kind of reward. Like unique ability or stat boosts. It is not that only watcher can be special. Companion relationship - it could be more complex, but cool technology. If the way we speak to companion have some consequences instead of pick everything untill it greys down, our action or talking could result in relationship: bros, mentor, no bullship (neutral), rivalry, lover. Saying Durance that if he wasnt Priest we would abandon him in the endless dungeon would be priceless. New story - maybe since Eothas is off the picture there is god vacancy and some smartass animant will try to fill the spot (it is not original plot, but what is?) to twist the things, he or she could be a decent guy and make a lot of sense, so player could feel urgue to help him instead.
  10. You can always set party in 3 lines, where 2nd line is Priest & Druid and 3rd line is Ranger & Wizard. So bacline can go very light, and 2nd line medium light. For druid goind with peasant weapons (for spirtform) and hatchet with small shield + some ranged is generaly good. Some of druids spells requires closer range or cone shape. For wizard you can take Arcane Veil for emergency. Bears are good, for either pet or spiritform. In party game for frontline staying alive longer than enem generally works.
  11. That is the fun thing, i wished Chanters have some talents to improve their chants... and Galant is one way to do it. ;-)
  12. From the gamy point of view that is quite fun. The situacion when you scout ahead and take right potions before the battle. Even better when you can take potion once for 5 min (not before every combat). It makes things more smooth, yet not exacly easier (you need to pic right food). My only complain is that there is not enought food/oil variety (like element resistance things) so we cant go all witcher against enemies.
  13. One thing to prise Obsidian for is how games gets better over time. In release there was no AI and party was just standing idle in the midle of the fight. Good times. But it was chaned for better. And there was given a option to level companions from level 1 ( no need to rush to grab them all before they pick some weird talent) or even respec if we mae mistakes.
  14. About skill change: Second wind - neat idea. Makes Priest more optional -> more freedom with party comp. Allows to dump skill points in something useful. Not really different from using bunch of potions and potions are unlimited. Camping bonus - not so sure. There is a lot of bonuses. Like food bonuses or stronghold bonuses or inn bonuses. That could be too much. The longer duracion of consumables is nice to some degree. What could be added to that is "healing effects on me bonus". That would fit the name and make it somehow useful.
  15. And that would be decent main story for PoE2 ) , not so original but it is good plot.
  16. About Devil stats: i can understand high Per, it is opening to higher crits and interups, not that it is very optimal way but i can see that. But that resolve... too much. I am ok with balanced stat distribution for companions making them look more like a human being (no dump stat), but if in character creation devs give hints which stats are important for class then in companion they could more or less fallow own instructions. Armour is another bugger, it could be enhanced and durgan steel. But it is lost opportunity. Generally personal armors have something special on it (like ver good Eder armor with second chance), and Devs lost opportunity to give Devil some fancy armor with special. Like full plate but with Armored Grace on it as bonus. That would cool be cool. Or make that boobplate distractive for enemies giving bonus to Deflection, that would also be cool. *** As for character, both are fine. I liked Devil more since Glados type chicks never get old.
  17. Full respec would be more trouble for programers, since that would require goin back to character creation screen including class pick, voice, avatar, look, origin. They probably can grey some of it for respec, but that is more work. Work to be done elsewhere. Companions just need to be half decent in what they do. And most of them are. Maybe Devil of Caroc have a very odd stat distribution (that Resolve) and gimped armor (but that could be fixed on its own). The other option (even better) is to make companion quests grant "something" so they feel more special. And doing companion quests ware more rewarding.
  18. Anything which is /rest i havent use, since it is too problematic and never know if it is the right time. So only passives, and /encounter are option, as long as effect is good enought. APPRENTICE'S SNEAK ATTACK - it is the next dps talent, so it is ok. Also could take it early. GALLANT'S FOCUS - i put it on Chanter, which gives larer area. It is like having extra effect on chants. Fair enought RUNNER'S WOUNDING SHOT - need to try on cipher. The rest so far looks not interesting enought. Some of this abilities could be made stronger and nothing will changed. Especiall /encounter abilities. Since being able to cast missiles is not that big deal. Generally as soon as something looks OP it is finally good enought. Some of abilities could get specific class copy. Like chanter being able to summon something for free would make class more interesting. Wizard being able to cast missiles /encounter could be helpful at low levels.
  19. Food is here for dungeons which are hard. Each time to run into area which is a little above of what you can do normally, so here comes the food for that extra 10% you was lacking. Camping is fine. Most maps have one bonfire which is enought to clean it. Buffs are better than malus. Since with malus everybody will be annoyed by it, and it will obscure UI, but buffs sometimes it is not needed or player could not care. Food/Bonfire managment is not exacly exiting or require any "skill" so it just sits here, better not overfocus on it. I am not sure about survival/atletics changes. Potion/Food duracion is nice thing. Maybe one of these could have "healing effects receive +%".
  20. Not sure what exacly you are thinking of, but if something like Harebrainer's Shadowrun, then this is quite fun system. You can make Cyberdecking Mage in that. Or cyberware Spirit Adept. However it is not very complex, which for some may be a problem. Any system combines factors: - Depth - Complexity - Options The advantage of current PoE system is that it has some depth, potencially give options, yet is not hard to understand. Being it classless would make it harder to understand and fallow.
  21. Now I want to create a socialist party to revolutionize Eora 0_o. EDIT: and what you mean by turning the game into a marxist utopia? A classless sytem (where loot is fairly distrubuted among all party memebrs ) )
  22. Turning game into marxist utopia will not do two things: 1) Will not make existing abilities any better 2) Will not create new abilities and talents In fact, it will do quite opposite since existing system will be thrown away and a lot of time will be wasted before anything good may be done. IMO this two are important things needed to the game on character creation side. So i prefer do Devs will focus on important stuff. Not to mention all other things which are not character creation system (quests, companion interaction, crafting and gear, stronghold, fancy enemies...).
  23. I'm not sure about the fighter. Should i skill him as full tank, full dps or hybrid? Tank in my opinion: Fire Godlike - The Living Lands - Stats: 18 18 10 10 4 18 Hybrid in my opinion: Moon Godlike - Aedyr - Stats: 18 10 10 18 4 18 Full DPS in my opinion: Wild Orlean - White that wends - Stats: 17 10 17 21 3 10 Wild Orlean because of "Defiant Resolve". But it lacks really will power, even with that. Hybrid or bruiser. Focus on dmg, but do not ignore defenses and armor, and possibly have 3rd slot for shield. Enemies have tendency to ignore no dps tanks. Something like this: Race: Island Aumaua for 3rd weapon slot, but anything but Wood Elf is ok from RP reasons. Stats: Might 18 (+2 race) Hit hard Dexterity 18 Hit fast Resolve 9 - We need it least, but too low may result in more hits/mind control than it is fun Rest 10 - cant ignore inteligency since we have some duration effects, do not need Percepcion as much (FIghter acc is good). (+1 from origin, living lands give +1 Might) Abilities: 1. Knockdown 3. Disciplined barrage 5. Weapon spec 7. Armour Grace 9. Confident Aim 11. Unbroken (or Clear Out) Talents: - Weapon Focus - Savage Attacks - Two Weapon Style/Two handed Style - Weapon Master - Vulnerable Attacs - Hold The line Weapon of choice: For 2 handed weapons Soldier is good, since also allows to use well some heavy hitting range weapons. Greatsword is a very good weapon. If somebody in party already use greatsword then Adventurer with Estoc is close pick. 2 weapons are fine, and Ruffian opens Pistol for opening salvo, and Sabres which have good dmg potencial.
  24. Personally i would miss martial classes. Since each have some "feel". Only classes in PoE which have specific gimmick are Monks, Chanters, Ciphers. The rest potencially could be just made "Adventurer" with a bunch of abilities and talents. Being "warrior" who occasionally cast fun of flames is not that hard to imagine. But that would result in loss of class flavour of Barbarian (scent of barbarian, new fragrance for men), so no. Imho the probalems with martial and casters are: 1. Casters get 4 spell/rest and it is balanced, but then they get it per encounter, but martial does not get anything. Fighter does not get "May trip as often as like". 2. Each caster have something lie 50 spells, half of them is suboptimal, but it still leaves 25, from which player can pick what suits him. Martial not alwas have 20 abilities to pick from (and half of them are suboptimal, and quarter do not fit concept). Martial simply have not enought abilities. 3. Overbalanced. Some of abilities are overbalanced, the are make so hard not be dominant that they reach point when they dosnt matter. Like Flames of Devotion +50% dmg twice per combat. Which is... +10% for 10 hits, that is quite fast. Compering to fighter weapon specialization which is +10% as long as you want. 4. Casters do not need talents. Without talents caster spells are still quite effective. But martial without talents are seriously gimped. Maybe martial classes should get free talents at some levels just as casters get free spells/encounter. How to fix it: 1. Constantly buff abilities which are underused. The good thing about Single PLayer game is that if you make fighter bottom kicking nobody will complain that much. It is better when class is overpowered (at least someone has fun) than underpowered (no reason to play it). 2. Give martial more abilities, so for each class there will be like 2-3 supported builds. Like Fighter could be: DMG dealer, or tankish, or stunlocker, and even Sharpshooter (with firearms). Paladin could either supporter, defender or all out dps eldrich night. What could also help is if weapon have a 4th category of enhancement (after quality, leash and slayin) for special effects like draining, stun on crits, dr bypass, or spellstrike.
  25. No need to worry too much about class pick, just pick what you think is fun for you. You dont mind pet? Then ranger is fine. Rather than asking "which class" better ask " i want to play class x with y (bow/boar/whatever) which talents pick?"
