  1. It's been flavour of the month for almost a year now...
  2. Guild Wars it's not a MMORPG, it's Diablo with an in-game chat room system. I tried the game during beta, seemed really good for what it was but i don't have an interest for that type of games at the moment...
  3. Dark Reign. Starting from the fith level this game is as brutal as an RTS game as ever got. I laughed out loud at the last few missions. To this day i still don't know how i managed to finish the it. Loved every second of it BTW...
  4. I'm sorry, but there are no creative possibilities. Star Wars only amounts to a few elements: the force, light sabers, jedi, sith, jedi who fall into the dark side, goofy alien races, imperialistic struggles, droids --> the end. Any deviation of those elements and it wouldn't be Star Wars anymore, you'd have a generic sci-fi setting with nothing to draw upon for inspiration but your own means. At that point, why even bother using the setting? Just make your own universe...
  5. Personally i don't understand what makes Torment's combat system bad. The character animations were the best i ever seen in any Infinity engine game (critical hits were a treat to the eye), spell effects were amazing and special abilities were actually fun to use. What the game lacked were good combat situations, but other then that i actually enjoyed the fighting in Torment more then Baldur's Gate (too easy/repetitious) and Baldur's Gate 2 (felt too much like work). Icewind Dale I it's the only IE game that has it beat IMHO. I think most people merely like to claim Torment's combat was bad just because it's the only thing they are allowed to attack. Personally i think the most glaring flaw was the fact the whole latter portion was completely rushed. Once you leave Sigil the game simply doesn't live up to that standard anymore, all though the ending itself was amazing.
  6. The whole henchemen system never made sense to me, it's one of the reasons i found NWN to be so hideous...
  7. I don't think the Star Wars universe is rich or interesting enought to make a game out of non-jedis. All you'd have is a sub-par setting that offers nothing but old fashioned sci-fi cliches and goofy looking aliens...
  8. Why can't Lucas just release the old films, untouched, along side the edited ones? I'm not sure if anybody ever went over this point. That way anybody can shut up about it...
  9. I took me 3 months to max out my character in WoW. Obviously not everybody is interested in leveling, perhaps this is one of the reasons old MMORPGs fans don't like the game, it doesn't offer that peculiar level of brainless grinding they crave for. Personally i don't see the appeal in waisting thousands of hours doing the same thing over and over with the single reward of upgrading your character sheet every other eon or so, but to each their own. I for one enjoy how Blizzard has put some effort in creating a real game in between the level grinding. WoW is actually the closest thing a MMORPG has ever gotten to a single player CRPG. Nothing that would shock an hardcore CRPG fan, but not bad considering how hard it is to script anything in an online game. For a big portion of the game you even get a main story line and series of quests. Most people could stop right here and never get into the MMORPG part of the game. I also like how rich and detailed the world is compared to other games of the genre, You can really tell they actually put some efford in creating each realms. The fact each race has it's own unique areas all the way to level 60 is amazing. Casual gamers can just play a couple of months, max out a character, take a brake then make a new character of a different race and have a whole new fresh experience all over again. As far as the multiplayer component goes, it's not easy to move around the hordes of battle.net kiddies all bent at ruining your game experiences and just being obnoxious all around (my IQ was really going down the toilet after playing with some of the people in my server), but every now and then you find somebody you like. Once you find enough people you enjoy playing with you don't have to play the game alone anymore. The fact WoW is perfectly soloable all the way to 60 gives you all the time in the world to find a decent group of people to play with. End-game is also a lots of fun. I love the fact most instances are designed for a group of five. You can raid most of them, but playing with a small group requires actual real strategy and this is where Blizzard's background in RTS really shines. The warrior class in particular was amazing to play. WoW is the first game where the warrior isn't the preferred newbie choise but is actually the most difficoult class in the game. If you have a group of decent players to do instances with it can become one of the most fun multiplayer experiences in any game. The fact each instance can be completed in 1-2 hours is also a bonus for those who don't have 15 hours a day to waist in a video game. All in all i think WoW is the best Blizzard game since Starcraft. I was also one of the lucky ones who never experienced severe server issues. The only reason why i stopped playing is that i just don't have that kind of time anymore. Even with the casual nature of the game WoW is still a MMORPG and can still become a time sink, and frankly, i got better things to do with my life then waist my free time on a single video game. Other then that i can't really say i wasn't impressed. Personally i think WoW is one of the best looking games i ever seen. The art direction is amazing, and the cartoon style allows for good visuals without having to rape your system in the process, which is obviously a bonus in a multiplayer game. One aspect of the game i really enjoyed was the fact each zone had it's own unique style. You could tell where you were at all times just by looking at your surroundings. Other MMORPGs all look boring and uninspired to me...
  10. Are the expantions and premium models indipendent from each other? I wanted to make a unique character for each, but now i hear you can import your SoU character to the other expansion (which i take starts at a highter level?). Those custom made modules also sound good. I never liked single player mods in any game because they always feel unprofessional and unpolished, but i'll give them a shot...
  11. Can anybody suggest some good NWN adventure? I played the original when it first came out, but i never could finish the main campain due to sheer boredome and the multiplayer never interested me. Right now i'm looking for some old school RPG experience however, and i was wondering if they ever did anything good with this game. How do the expansions compare to the original game? Is there any good module? Mind you, when i say 'good' i mean really good. I'm not expecting great, but at least better then the original campain (leaving out lengh as a factor), and possibly with as little filler material as possible.
  12. Black Isle Blizzard Looking Glass Valve Bioware Monolith Westwood Old Lucas Arts Those all get my vote, i just can't decide on the top 5...
  13. *cought* Deus Ex 2 *cought* *cought* Knights of the old Republic *cought*
  14. When i started i felt IWD2 was better. Then i left the prologue...
  15. Please please please please somebody remove that mental image out of my head...
  16. The 'romance' part of the film was bad, but it only lasted a few minutes. In T2 we have to deal with that atrociously annoying kid the whole time, much MUCH worst if you ask me. T1 also gets the credit for introducing the premise of the series, and i love the brooding sci-fi setting much better then the PG-13 kiddie crap we get in T2. I also think the lead actor in T1 was decently capable in both his role in T1 as well as Aliens. You also get a humorous duet from Paul Winfield and Lance Henriksen. In T2 we get an histerical Linda Hamilton, the above mentioned kid whom you wish dead for the duration of the film, a GOOD Terminator (what the hell ? ), and a series of blank characters horribly cut into the film. (the whole Dr. Silberman ordeal was terribly anticlimatix). Sorry, but the only good thing about T2 was Robert Patrick as the T1000, the rest of the film was an high budged crap fest. I'm also taken aback that you would choose the abomination that was T3 (seriously) over T1. I wouldn't consider T1 a 'great' film, but the only thing you can fault the movie for is being relatively low budged if compared to the other 2. You really have poor taste in movies, i must say...
  17. I don't download stuff because i don't listen to popular music, but i think that comment should be redirected to the music industry my friend. That's where the real criminals are...
  18. Do they explain the origin of Hamidon's massive lag field ? Yeah, just when i was hoping my mate would stop playing the game they had to release the expansion... Blizzard North were responsible for the Diablo series, hardly the best games ever to come out of Blizzard, and Metzen was merely the writer/art designer for those games, and as far as i know he's still working for Blizzard, or am i wrong?
