That's Chris Avellone, for those who couldn't tell. Very interesting about his reading meterial, i think i might pick up some Martin, Prachett or Zelansky one of this days. Haven't read anything fiction for untold eons. I made a Myspace page a long time ago when my friends were actually interested in it. It's been ages since i've bothered. Because consoles have been a constant poison to the PC industry and most people are afraid for the fate of the latter. The single bare notion that console titles outsell PC games by a considerable margin it's a threat constantly looming on the PC world, and with the evers growing costs of games the console market is becoming more and more attractive for developers. Since the Xbox hit the market, many high profile companies have embraced the new platform in the name of profit, and this has only managed to hurt PC games. It has made developers less ambiscious due the increased efford of producing a game for multiple platforms, and has forced them to lower standards to meet the requirments of the console market. Games like Halo, KotOR, Thief 3 and Dues Ex 2 could have been much more if the Xbox had never been released, and PC gamers resent that. It doesn't have anything to do with fanaticism, it's a defensive reaction...

I'm here because of Black Isle. I don't like Star Wars and don't care for the KotoR series (though they are not bad games by any stretch of the imagination)...

It depends on how you play. During the time i played, i never joined raids or anything, i always 5 manned my instances, and to me they were all challenging and fun to play. I tried raids but they never did anything to me. Indeed, they were way too easy, messy and frankly, pointless. Plus i just couldn't stand playing with those people. I enjoy the fact Blizzard has made a casual gamer friendly enviorment. One of the reasons i never wanted to try MMORPGs in the first place is that i didn't want to commit my life to a video game. The trade off is the horrible community. I can't count how many times i've met level 60 paladins who never trained spells, and we all know Blizzard has one of the worst gaming communities, right next to Counter Strike fans. What you need to do is actively seek out good players. If you find somebody you enjoy playing with, mark their name down and try to see if you can play with them again. Joining a RP server made things a lot easier. No, nobody really roleplays, but there's a higher chance to find more mature and smarter gamers. Multiplayer games are what you make them, and the people you play with make all the difference. A bad apple on a 5 man scholomance run can turn a couple hours of fun into an afternoon of pure hell...

smirk, perhaps you should just leave this whole online gaming buissness alone. Soloing in those type of games it's a sure ticket to boredome...

No, because there is no persistent world. The Massive Multiplayer Online part of the genre isn't pointing at the number of people playing the game, but the number of people playing togheter on the same server. In this respect Guild Wars is closer to Diablo then WoW...
