  1. I think it should be reported as a bug weapon + armor should stack but weapon + weapon are of the same type they shouldn't. Also the ring of combusting wounds(old item I know) seems buged as well because one can cast the spell from there and it's always autohit.
  2. 2 from armor enchant + 1 from the warhammer with stun proc you gain from killing skydragon.
  3. I still am a bit disappointed that they never managed to include some decent talents that would interact with spells and change some of the parameters similar to what the metamagic feats used to do. It would be cool to be able to change the shape, duration, elemental type of certain spells for example. There is to hope only for poe2 now but that will take several years...
  4. by the way not sure if it's mentioned already in this thread but strike hard + vile loner's debuff stack ( in my case I have 2 frontliners and each uses one) it's quite nice not sure if it's working as intended though.
  5. Llengrath's physical shield picked as 1/encounter seems appropriate especially in solo runs... in a party maybe the buffs of the priest/paladin are still ok.
  6. The problem is that you defined the origin of the word "atheist" without defining the origin of the word "soul." If you want to prove that the concept of a soul within this context can exist without the concept of a god, then maybe show the origin of the word "soul"? I gave you the exact definition in english of what the anglicized word "atheist" means in my own native language from where it actually originates. It was a grammatical/ linguistic observation about what is what. In that case - without god. As for the rest there can be no proof about things which cannot be quantified mathematically. The proof is mathematical it requires axioms, theorems which derive through a logical process of cause and effect but it also requires the evaluation of these through repeated experimentation everything else is philosophy(best case scenario...) Philosophizing whether soul came before god or vice versa is like philosophizing whether the egg came before the chicken. Let us assume for once(without me personally believing in any of these) that someone chooses to believe that there is such thing as a soul. Something yet not fully understood by physicists that surrounds a biological organism and that might poses a dual state similar to wave/particle that is essential for the biological organisms lifespan and determines up to an extent the behavior/thoughts/feelings/body chemistry of an individual. Let us assume that this guy believes that this "soul" just came to be without the need of a god and that with the passing of time the soul changes to other states just as the energy in the universe came to be without the divine intervention as being described by the physicists so far. There you have it a guy believing in soul but not in any kind of god. He can't prove anything he just believes and a preacher can't prove anything to him either because there is no scientific evidence of both the existence or in-existence of such thing the preacher also just believes(albeit with a bit better theological "formulations"). In math there are problems that have solutions, problems that do not have solutions and problems that cannot be solved. But we are not doing math at the moment and neither science. In the end these are matters of faith and matters of faith are matters of the individual leave them be or... just keep on talking. For me I said personally everything I had to say on this topic. Good night. PS: On topic - No the game is not biased towards atheism. Agnosticism maybe... and there's nothing wrong with that!
  7. With wizard 18 dex, 20 per it was 100% success sadly I don't know the cutoff values however if you can afford respeccing then there should be no problem
  8. In the immortal words Gromnir: "HA! Good Fun! Of course souls pre-date Christianity, and all extant religions also. That doesn't contradict what I said. Once again, religion has no monopoly on the word "soul". As for the effort of research, I've read the bible several times (being raised as a Catholic) as well as read commentaries on it. I've also read the Quran through once and the Bhagavad Gita: the latter is far more compelling than any Abrahamic holy book. I've read several apocryphal books of the bible too, which are really interesting. I've also read a fair amount of philosophy regarding religion and epistemology. I continue to read and research religion in general and specific religions in particular because they fascinate me. I can assure you that my atheism is not a product of laziness. I've read and studied lots too. Analyzed the Gospels in college as well as a study of the Historical Jesus vs the Mythical Jesus. The point of this particular exchange is that you specifically denied that a lack of belief in a soul is not tied to Atheism; and that is a fallacy. Not necessarily. An "atheist - greek: άθεος: a-theos". Theos literally translates as god(I suspect the writers named a certain character in purpose since it sounds the same although I found it too cheesy) and with the negating "alpha" in front it means without god. Someone can be without a god but he might still believe that the soul itself preexisted without the need of a "higher intelligent omniscient being" baby-sitting it. In the end these are personal matters, that everyone understands in his own way. But I wouldn't really find it contradictory for someone being both an atheist and yet believing in the existence of the soul. For the terminology's sake however atheism by it's pure grammatical meaning it just means/translates in English as "without god".
  9. The gods in poe are "real"(in this at least I have to agree with Thaos - although he still deserves to die ). I wouldn't say the storyline is biased towards atheism but maybe some aspects could have done better since all the Engwithian advanced civ creating their own gods mumbojumbo seems so close to the Eldar in wh40K and I'm sure the rest of you could think of few more parallelisms with other titles/rpg/fantasy. In the context of a 'fantasy world' a god has tremendous power over the living irregardless of how it got created. Similarities of this concept can be found on "forgotten realms" for instance. These beings are everything a god can be unless you specifically add as a hard constrain the "pre existence", but even in that one could argue that these being existed, maybe not in the exact form but at least scattered into a vast number of souls, so they existed in a more primitive way until something happened and they became whole. (reminds me of simpler organisms evolving into more complex). In the end it's a matter of personal beliefs but I don't really think the message of the story is so much on atheism rather than agnosticism. Personally I don't find anything wrong with that, my only concern is that perhaps there could be some room about more prototype ideas...
  10. Regarding the above mythology lore I have to agree with Lukmann. In poe we are in a fantasy setting as mentioned earlier. Look at it this way Bane, Bhaal and Myrkull were mortals, powerful and cunning but still mortals that in the end managed to inherit a portion from the power of a god hence became gods themselves. So through certain means a mortal was turned into a god. In poe the means are through the use of animancy practice on "masses of souls" with the details of the actual process being obscured and long forgotten thought to belong to the ancient Engwith civ. Again based on the gaming lore and the usual tradition of past successful fantasy settings I don't see a contradiction personally.
  11. @Wolken3156: My thoughts exactly By the way while talking about wizards I think the ring of searing flames might be buged. Every time I cast combusting wounds through it it's always autohit. Is that working as intended? - Might require to file a bug report.
  12. Might be nice when stacking dangerous implement plus deleterious alacrity. ^^ +1 Also since I'm dropping con to 3 the racial proc is quite nice and on top of that goodlike is the only race that allows us to start with 20 INT.
  13. Fair points so far guys thanks for the ideas. My typical wizard is a wood elf interrupter but I'm starting to get bored and thought of making some small changes. Now I'm running with a moon goodlike maxing intellect(20) > dex > might > per and wearing clothes. The idea was to maximize the aoe range first and then direct damage. There's not a big difference however so far in comparison to my cookie-cutter build apart from the 60% aoe range starting bonus. It's nice because it applies to everything included Kalakoth's.
  14. Hey everyone, out of all classes the wizard is my favorite one and usually I do several playthroughs with different races for some of the classes that I like. My usual starting stats comprised of max 18 DEX, 18 PER, 18 INT, min 3 CON, 3 RES, remaining 15 MIG. The stats do not take under account racial/background bonuses. However lately I have been considering the late-game powergaming and it seems to me that maybe Perception although really nice in the beginning in the late-game might not be so significant as Might. Due to gear and levels eventually we will get enough accuracy to cross the necessary threshold for a safe "to Hit" however one does not gain Might so easily or better extra %damage through just leveling. Of course we also need to consider the interrupt that Perception grants in order to evaluate the utility of the two stats but so far it seems to me that maybe if we plan for a late-game build one should be maximizing his Might before Perception. The way I see it now(in contrast to what I used to think when Perception got buffed) is DEX > INT > MIG > PER in that order. While an extra 5 accuracy in early game might mean a lot, in the late-game is not such a big deal when compared to an extra 15%damage bonus. Thoughts? PS: What is your favorite race apart from wood elf?
  15. I used to give my non-fighter/frontliner characters berathian robes for 2DR you only pay 5% recovery penalty and that seemed ok as a tradeoff but on my late playthrough I went full cloth on them and it was hilarious to watch my wizard/druid/priest chain-casting non-stop. You can still enchant clothes with +DR pretty much you trade 2DR for 5% recovery penalty. Another solution is to give them the usual robes but with durgan enchantement however I'd rather use the durgan on full plate and weapons since those guys profit more. So for front liners I would suggest full plate armor, exeptional + durgan For anyone else, casters, rogues, swashbucklers, ranged, etc... clothes exeptional with 0% recovery penalty or robes exeptional with durgan enchantement. I'm playing iron mode potd with the above.
  16. Well written as always Boeroer. I was wondering if it would make sense to add in Soft winds of Death between two Dragon chants with a max int support/defensive chanter due to increased linger and overlapping. Personally I bring only 1 chanter on the group and lately I was even considering dropping him for a second paladin. Lategame 2x Sacred immolation or early game 2x auras seems rather solid. With the buffs on chanter I was considering running 1 pal 1 chant both defensive support oriented though.
  17. It does still add on direct damage spells also on spells that cause "direct" damage over time like chill fog but not on the usual dot like the druids spells. I have always wondered however if it's better to use double "Dragon thrashed" or Dragon + Lash chant... I wonder if anyone got any insight on that... (hinting at Boeroer )
  18. Nothing wrong with stopping cipher from spamming abilities BUT we all would agree that their lategame "mojo" is lackluster in comparison to casters and I think the comparison is fair since the cipher is a kind of caster himself. Therefore a buff or a complete revamp of the lategame stuff should be in order if not with part 2 maybe with a new patch in March. We as players could keep on giving feedback on those lategame abilities.
  19. @Boeroer: Does Scion of Flame stack with Dragon Slashed now? I think it didn't use to stack a few patches ago. What chanter abilities are affected by it? I playtested with the Secrets of rime myself and it appears to affect the freeze aoe invocation.
  20. She get's eliminated and her personal quest listed as failed. It was quite funny since it was totally unexpected soon after I realized it's working as intended since after all with the new patch she is a construct not only in theory but also in practice.
  21. She is ok especially factoring in all the immunities with the resolve and heavy armor she's got decent survival while still able to dish out some damage with pikes but it's priceless if she gets oneshoted by the guy that carries the two handed soulbound weapon.
  22. Better racial abilities for almost half of the already existing races. Also avian goodlike ladybirds can wait we can do without them thanks!
  23. Most probably a rival dwarf faction responsible for the massacre... hello Dwergars, with better "golems" than the poor dwarves of the forge. Thanks for the heads up, keep up the good work!
  24. Later on when 2nd level spells become per encounter or even earlier if needed you can always use "infuse with vital essence" you recover both endurance and health and it remains when combat wears off. I usually use this when I have cleared the mobs and the combat time is about to reset.
  25. Those talents are abysmal, they are mediocre at best. You might wish to think those talents are good but adding 1 more spell is not such a big deal especially since you can always rest either on the nearest town or twice per dungeon(potd) if out of spells. Furthermore casters don't really need more spells per rest to begin with they got more than enough already. It's like giving a few extra bucks to a billionaire he won't care. When I compare these talents and make the claim that they are worthless I compare them to what other spellcasters in similar systems used to get. Feats/talents that would make your caster interact more actively with his spells like changing a spells shape or element for instance duration or any other spell specific parameter. That to me is more interesting and would allow for more variation in comparison to just being able to cast one more low level spell from the 4 available slots per level. They don't have to be overpowered they just have to be more interesting and interactive because right now class specific caster talents for me at least are plain boring also why would someone pick + 1st level spell when you can pick +20 % more damage with certain element(which can affect more than a single spell for a given element). Right now the 20% elemental damage utility talents overshadow any class specific talents especially when it comes to druids/wizards. The typical wizard build for example consists of at least 3 utillity elemntal talents then the mediocre at best 1 whole extra low level spell/rest or some kind of extra interrupt coupled with extra damage for wands/scepters again mediocre at best since it's only useful for low level gaming after level 10 you won't even bother autoattacking with your wizard any more. Furthermore why would you bother to spend an entire talent point in order to gain a single spell when there are items in game like rings of wizardry that give you more than enough spells to begin with? You gain 3 spells/rest from Telda's and 4 spells/rest from Seloam's and that's with 2 items permanently. That's how crappy those talents are. Again spellcasting talents don't have to be overpowered they just have to be more interesting and interactive with the spellcaster's weapons(i.e. his spells)
