  1. Indoors are pretty good as well. Hopefully I'll get me a new card when 1.03 comes out and I can have at least 2x AA.
  2. That was absolutely retarded. They could possibly have justified the first tazering by saying they were trying to stop him leaving - which they could have done with 3 police officers' muscles vs one student - but they threaten to taser him again, refuse to give badge info, threaten everybody else. Looks more like a hold-up by thugs than by police officers. Refraining from making any blanket statements about the police force in general, I think it woudl be a damn shame if these guys weren't fired or at least put in deep stir fry for a while. The problem is that sometimes the only way to expose corruption, wrongdoing or incompetence is by things like this; but most people know that even if you get tasered for your troubles, nothing may change. So there's no payoff to you for going to the trouble to expose wrongdoing in our society - so people just ignore it and try not to be bothered. That's the part that makes me sad.
  3. Hahaha.. I see. I thought you had a better rig than mine. I understand. The blessing is that the textures dont affect performance, so you can turn it up to high - and at high it really does look very good. I hated how wizard robes looked in Medium because they just look like Paint -> Fill Colour, but at high you can see those little 'ripply' thingies.
  4. Yes, yes it can. Deraldin, that really doesn't look any better than mine on Radeon9600 Pro. I suppose it's because of shadows, and you took it in the time/place with the least amount of purty lights possible. btw, can anybody tell the difference when they turn normal mapping on? I can't, *at all*. No performance hit either. Maybe my card just can't do normal mapping.
  5. Jan is hilarious if you just read the first few words (i.e. "This reminds me of my Uncle Borus), skip the rest, then imagine his effect on the rest of your party. I carried him around a lot, I liked the VO too.
  6. Imoen was hardly ever funny, though. Volourn: Neeshka isn't funny. She's whiny and annoying. Okay, well. I thought her voice acting was pretty damn awesome in the banter you get when you first reach Neverwinter though. "Oooh, me stomach rumbles like a baby's cradle."
  7. Ah, the days where you'd walk your cha-high sorcerer in the front, just in case someone would come talk to you.... or shoot arrows into the sorcerer's face.
  8. Deja vu? No, wait.
  9. Crappy cookies. I blame the fact that there are like 12 NWN2 threads. I thought the official nwn1 cloaks were pretty varied, actually. Not too bad for a patch addon.
  10. I think the point raised was that only Chris chooses to have githzerai speak in this way. Still, the point wouldn't stand - Chris made a conscious decision, then acted consistently. In fact, the only logically valid accusation to level would be to say that Chris 'fell back' on a previous prototype by choosing to create another Githzerai character. And I think he can be excused for that, even if I didn't find Zhjaeve nearly as good as Dak'kon.
  11. Not really, terrain is easier. Esp. cause items require balancing, placement, method of requirement, etc - and thus is gneerally a more 'secondary' task.
  12. It really depends on the situation. For example, in my module concept (a bit arcanum-like in its adoption of a degreee of technology), you come across a man's home where he has just activated an automaton by mistake. 1/ you can choose to go in and see what's up. 2/ you can choose to ignore it and move on; if you do so, if you enter the house later the man will be dead, etc. If you do enter, the man himeslf will be hiding in a closet. You can: 1/ help him 2/ run away (so they all die as a direct result of your refusal to help) 3/ ask him to come out of the closet and help you disable the automaton. Afterwards, he will ask you for help in another quest; 1/ help him 2/ just ask for your reward for saving him then move on 3/ move on 4/ threaten him for everything he has 5/ accept provisionally then find out more It's pretty damn generic as it is, of course - even more so since I dont provide details here and trivialise - but in this kind of instance, there will and should be choices. With a druid who helps you out when you are absolutely screwed? Perhaps not as much. But even if you eventually have to accept his help, dialogue options can (and probably does in Maria's module) make it seem more realistic; you can question his motives, even try to veto his help, but eventually cooler heads in other NPCs prevail and they will make sure they get the druid's help no matter your paranoid arguemnts.
  13. One IS available. Or is rumoured to be, somewhere, out there.. *cough*
  14. Crappers, someone beat me to the 6800GT. Now looking at an ATI x800XT 256mb AGP for a similar price (80-100US). Apparently it's a similar card to the 6800GT, if not slightly better. We shall see. Hurlshot, good to know that the x1600 does well. "Incredibly smooth" is pretty much all I'm going for myself.
  15. The githyanki indeed is impressive lookin'. There are a couple of nice new music pieces later on in the game, but mostly it's going to be NWN1 music, and new ones that are very similar. It's not going to be anything more than average. Myself, I wasn't annoyed so much with the 'FedEx' nature of the 5 villagers reporting, but the alignment/roleplay options. Firstly, you can't get 5 villagers without 'saving' some of the wounded with moss; you have to heal at least 2 of those. Yet you get +3 Good for doing it. What in the world of hell? I want to heal these ugys so that they can help ME not get killed and mutilated by little bearded thuggers. Not because I'm a 'nice person'. It was simply Biowarian in that they assume that even when your village is on fire you'd slit the throats of your own wounded (thats not evil, thats just retardced). If anything, the "I'll loot you first the heal you" option should have been both Chaotic and Evil. That's the part I was disappointed about. Other than that, Sammael, you shouldn't expect too much of opening level fights. Even with a tutorial they're always going to have to ease you into it or have people complaining that their wizard can't get past thep lace.
  16. Of course I got the two miners. The first 2 occasions in which I found ore for them, I was able to upgrade the weapons and armour as well. But after that, even though I found ore +3 more times, and the miners acknowledged this (I got up to Mithral sample or something), the smiths wouldn't. I'd like to think I was fooled by something more complex than that.
  17. A lot of what Bishop says does make sense, really, even if one does not agree. The dialogue options of the PC in response are also better than normal, which helps a lot. The only time when I felt Bishop didnt really make sense was when he talks about his village. Still, he's fairly likeable as a concept.
  18. .... Gogo Jorian Deliveries. The problem I saw with some characters is that past a certain point you can't really do anything with them. Neeshka I pretty much sucked out the content fast, but with Sand I was really surprised becuase after the various sequences where he helpls you out (i.e. trial), I really didnt have much left. I did stick with him for quite a while, but didnt seem to have many chances to gain influence with him, either, so I couldnt get all that Luskan talk out of him.
  19. Such as?
  20. Neeshka. *gets clobbered on the head by Volourn* Sand and Khelgar were pretty cool, and I liked Bishop as well. I haven't used Casavir and Grobnar much yet, but I plan to this playthrough. I think the only character I don't like has to be Shandra; the rest are pretty good, even Qara.
  21. The best part was that I was a wizard.
  22. Speaking of the keep. In my first playthrough I spent prodigious sums of money to upgrade everything fully (since I only equipped my main 3-4 characters), but couldn't do everything because even though I kept finding ore, the armourr/weaponsmith kept saying they needed more ore to upgrade weaponry. It's a pity because I like doing these things even if theres not that much benefit / change at the end (something definitely moddable, I should think, by those who can manage myriads of scripts?) Keeping an eye out for ore mines from the start this time.
  23. Our chief weapons are fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency and an almost fanatical devotion to the pope!
  24. Two posts that take alan's bait and make a fool of themselves One is excused since it's roshan the other is excused for hungarian english. Keep 'em coming, people. The even funny counterpart to alan's story, of course, is that half the games I buy, I need to download pirated versions so that it would *work*. Like those budget packages that I got MTW2 with.
  25. Interestingly enough, the comparison site reports Radeon 9600 Pro to have a 400 core clock and 300 memory clock. I know mine actualy performs at 400/200. But Geforce 6800GT seems to be 350/500. benchmarks and all other settings has GeForce 6800GT jump wayyy over the Radeon though. What functions do these core/memory clocks perform, and why is it that a much older & better 6800GT has a lower core clock speed? They really just need to make a linear scale of graphics cards.
