  1. Modding gives people big strong muscles.
  2. Puppet mode?
  3. ST, point is that message boards are never going to be more accurate a judge of fan responses than the words of the developers themselves. Srsly, move on. If you want complaints that actually hurt sales, go look at the Gothic 3 forum.
  4. I have been cruelly ignored. :'( I shall now run around farting uncontrollably.
  5. Nope, but I dont know what you guys are arguing about anymore, I just thought I'd pitch in with the logical point. Edited post, btw.
  6. Take the sales figures of NWN. Then, take the amount of people who play multiplayer. Then, take the amount of people who pirate the game, and thus only play single player. Winzor'd. NWN1 had a massive multiplayer fanbase. However, its single-player fanbase was way, way bigger in proportion. Certainly over half either only played SP, or thought it more important than MP. Biowarians have commented on this fact again and again. MP, of course, is more important than its population figures warrant because it really contributes to community and longevity, but that's neither here nor there. I dont know, I went off to work for a couple of hours and now the discussion is now about SP/MP? The original point that there was a shootstorm for NWN and both of its expansions stands. There was uproar about NWN; there was uproar about SOU; there was uproar about HOTu; there was uproar about the first of the premier modules; there was uproar about OE taking over NWN2; there was also uproar about Pong because they didnt include different coloured freakin balls. If you want concrete evidence, last year I did a statistical survey of Obsidian and found that the board is mainly sustained by only 40-50 regulars who post on average more than four or five times a week; everyone else just floats in, and floats out. While Bioware forums will be different, this only lends to the fact that forum demographics most certainly cannot be trusted.
  7. You can find out about Lorne if you talk to Mother Starling BEFORE you ever leave West Harbor. I did that so I was always waiting for a chance to talk to Lorne about it. It stinks of cut-out 'subplot', IMO, especially the relationhsip between Lorne and Torio. Roshan, what exactly was wrong with Lorne battle, when you say buggy? I used Khelgar since I knew my mage would be horrible, and it was difficult but not impossible, and I didn't see any bugs.
  8. The sergeants are: Bevil, from West Haven, who ends up in your Keep Light of Heaven, fight in Llast, Merchant Quarter, Keep Jalboun, the mercenary of Sydney Natale when she ambushes you with the Animus Elemental. You can simply offer him double the pay and he will fight with you. Keep him alive and he will become a seargeant. Katriona, Casavir's buddy at Old Owl Well. I think that's it, really. Apart from that you can get the various merchants to come in (armor, weapon, drow mage at fire giant prison, deekin, and i think one more), Joy the dancer, Kistrel the spider, the Blade Golem, etc.
  9. I assume in multiplayer you only control one character. In that case, even with my laggy computer, there is no problem with fighting in real-time.
  10. You just described the antithesis of NWN1 OC. I can't speak for multiplayer since I never really played MP in NWN1 either, so won't argue there. As for your complaints about combat, it's all opinion. For myself I like pausing, squad combat is supposed to be tactical. If I didnt want to pausse I'd go play Gothic or play solo. Icons werent too small at all because I can remember what I cast, spell effects were clear enough and look pretty good but not excellent, critical damage is obvious if only because of CRITICAL HIT! popup (which I want gone), and the context/quickcast menus certainly take a lot less clicks than radial menu, unless you like spending 3 hours rearranging your quickbars. But hey, that's just my opinion, isnt it?
  11. It was epic if he meant the scope of the project, encapsulating DM client, Toolset, Multiplayer and Singleplayer. The singleplayer campaign was not epic. Just becasue it's big and gives you so much loot/xp you end up killing dragons left and right doesn't mean it's 'epic'.
  12. I was there too, and Volo probably, and many others. "Diablo for the new milennium" is not a good name as far as I'm concerned, but whatever. If nobody complained about the fact that OC had the design competence of a blind monkey, at the very least, then we could install Jack Thompson as president and nobody would complain.
  13. Speaking of Light of Heavens, where the heck do you find him? I fought him once at Llast, and apparently he's also around at Merchant Quarter, but theres a third place, isnt there?
  14. NWN2 is a great gamek, and remember that the NWN fanbase was always going to complain whatever NWN2 was, especially since Obsidian did it and not Bioware. Not as bad as Fallout fanboys, but we have to realise that the millions who played NWN2 are now a demographic of their own in the CRPG market. Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure that on the large NWN2 was a success story. There will be ienvitable "highprofile" modders and whatnots "leaving the community" because the sequel is "disappointing", but that never matters. Every new ship has its deserters. edit: That said, the guy does have good individual points. I think despite having a lot of fun with NWN2, it felt more like a Bioware plot with more sophistication, deviance and sharp wit. I would put the OC on par with Baldur's Gate, but its story was never a Torment, or even anything special. Some moments were excellent but more in terms of gameplay (i.e. the idea of trial), or individual delivery (Haven / Shandra). The already mentioned point that evil dialogue options are still crappy is very true. I felt that flawed as KOTOR2 was (and NWN2 is definitely more fun), the K2 story was something more special in both its sophistication and its deviance. The NWN2 story is more like the IWD2 story; there are some elements that are interesting and provoke / emote, but on the whole its just another high fantasy tromp in terms of plot.
  15. Which is precisely why instead of having 4 + Shandra, I'd rather enter the consoel code and have 5 of my own choice. That's why I described it as a scale of weights, on one side challenging battles and on the other maximum party interaction. And Sandra really wasn't wanted. I may have to revise my allegations about difficulty, though, since after halfway through Act II the game started getting a bit harder. But all that is moot for now because I have passed that stage. )
  16. I just went through the statue questions and yes, they were stupid. It serves no purpose, the rewards and punishments are silly, the methods of testing are silly. It really stinks of makeshift filler because the designers got brain drain or they ran out of time. I was amused by Sandra in Haven because my alignment is extremely Chaotic Good (on both spectrums), but because she hated most of my deciisons (i.e. the Ribsmasher against the door :D), she keeps calling me a monster and stuff. Still, if I hated carrying her around, that section was done well (and I'm FINALLY rid of her.)
  17. Finally about to get rid of sheep forevaaaa by going to I assume that begins the Third Act. I really like the keep, being able to go back to your previous areas and recruit people, and the interrelationship between the various activities in the keep is really cool. And in the end, it gets about as lifelike as any other modern CPRG town.
  18. I used Khelgar, Neeshka, Qara/Sand, Elanee/ ; the last one mainly because I knew she'd have the most lines to say at the end. It seemed like characters like Neeshka hardly got any lines at all in late game, I wish the spread was a bit more even. Next time I'm going to use Bishop extensively, I like him and his VO is fairly good.
  19. Ah well. Your best bet is opening the module up in the toolset, then finding the script that is *supposed* to fire when you enter the vault ( ), then activating it with the console (rs scriptname). Other than that, sorry I can't help more.
  20. She just needs a good kick up the arse to show her she's not the only one with super innate talent. Perhaps she'll get that in my game when she goes up against the I've seen the cutscene but haven't met it yet.
  21. Oh, she's definitely a good fighter. But it just irks me, because it also makes the battles even easier. In terms of combat I'd prefer to only have 3-4 characters at most; but I want as many as possible for dialogue and party interaction. Sandra tips the balance. Meh. I suppose anything can be seen as idle nitpicking with the right perspective. I'm in the right now and having fun. I was really pleased with how they did the stronghold so far (only just started, really) - it's level ofi nvolvement in the game is ismilar to the De'Arnise Keep or other strongholds in BG2, just with more options. I like it, its just mini-gamey enough without being trivial.
  22. Really? I'm in and I haven't seen any fancy screens. :/ Qara is useful but I'm using Sand right now for some reason. Probably switch around soon.
  23. Fair enough, but Shandra you get stuck with you for really, really, really long. Looks like entirety of Act 2, so nearly a third of the entire freakin' game. She's the longest forced character I've seen in any RPG.
  24. That's true, but it's so messy. I already use the console to give myself more party members than allowed, because I like and want a cleric/druid type in addition. I don't want helping me in battle, I don't want her talking, and I don't want to see her take up the room on the bottom right where I keep my Attack Queue and Enemy Highlight. Bleh. The big thing is that with previous forced partymembers it made sense as to why you needed them around; with her there is no reason whatsoever. It's poor design decision.
