  1. Too Human was an ARPG?? Now I realise I never actually knew anything about that game. Only that it got panned a lot.
  2. Alpha Protocol. If we're talking about a game you fall in love with, not the 'best made game', there's no contest. It's ambitious, does most of the things it's ambitious about perfectly, it's unique, and it oozes cool. I'm the type that goes out of their way to set up elaborate mine traps, etc., even when I don't need to, which mitigates the combat's myriad problems somewhat. The 'best made game' is probably FNV, though.
  3. I can definitely understand why other people would prefer OTS camera. I wouldn't mind it myself, even though I'd never use it during combat or anything. Again, the pity is that due to various limitations it's very unlikely that we'll get that in DS3. What we can hope for is a higher zoom, which is really needed to make MP not so screwed up.
  4. It's shot up to be my most anticipated game anywhere already, alongside Risen 2. Sounds awesome in every way.
  5. I felt pretty done with FNV so skipped Honest Hearts, but that trailer does a good job at making it look all fun again. Might get this.
  6. Simple. What do 'normal people' do? They don't get into nerdy stuff, they don't get into jocky stuff, etc, so what the hell do they do with all their time?
  7. My main beef was that you level up so few times in the game, most of your points distribution happens at character creation. Naturally, I wasted a lot of points in Archery, Dexterity, etc., only realising later on that you get like 1 bow the entire game, etc. The very first Ylsides literally kills me in 3 hits, nowhere long enough for me to get him even with triple Harm. In any case, I was already fed up with the magic system rejecting all the runes I draw making me play almost without magic. It's a pity, the concept of the underground world would have been interesting to expand on in future, less criminally clunky titles.
  8. Gave up on Arx Fatalis. I encountered the first and realised I was way too weak to beat these guys without some serious cheesing/reloading, and felt the game wasn't entertaining me enough for that. Looking at a walkthrough it seems like I was mostly done, anyway. Waiting for a friend to get DS3 so we can co-op. Fiddling with Knights of the Chalice demo but unsure for 15 quid.
  9. Make sure that you hit the Use key when on the platform (RB or E). When you're in the right spot on the platform, your character portrait should light up to show the key you need to press.
  10. It's relatively common to see video game companies release small updates with no announcement or changelog. Whether you like it or not that's a simple fact. Unless, hang on, wait! I like DS3, so that must mean what I say is wrong. Personally, I always thought it is weird game companies (including Obsidian, in this case) do that. Changelogs don't take long to write and they should be provided as a matter of course. Just never thought it was that big a deal. *shrug*
  11. I haven't fiddled with DS3 ini files - so I don't know which files control keymapping settings. Anybody? But verifying file integrity would be the first thing to check.
  12. Without going too deep into it, my gut reaction to those symptoms is (1) could do with a reinstall/repatch or at least Steam verify file integrity, to make sure things didn't screw up; (2) perhaps look in My Documents/My Games/Dungeon Siege III and make sure the keybinding changes are reflected there and that those files aren't set to read-only (or, you could manually change them THEN set them to read-only), so that the game doesn't override your settings with default ones.
  13. Depending on your OS, you might be able to use AppLocale to make DS3 run in English even if your OS is set to another language? Worth trying in the meantime. I always had to do it with Paradox games. AppLocale = http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=13209 If you have Win7 = http://blog.wentoday.com/?p=136
  14. Just checked, keybinding & strafe should solve 95% of the controls problems. Pity about no camera changes (yet?), but that was expected.
  15. And that's why developers hate to give deadlines for patches. Because you know, what happens when you try and get into a highly complex set of code that has myriad dependencies on each other, and change a couple of things? Other stuff breaks. And you have to fix that. And test. and fix. And test. (Because this patch is meant to contain bugfixes, etc., not just keybinding, remember.)
  16. Huh, interesting. Is that just the xbox limitation? Microsoft's rules? PC patches get way bigger than that all the time.
  17. Feel free to continue the Alpha Protocol discussion in the right forum/thread.
  18. Trying Knights of the Chalice demo. Always looked a bit too old school for me but it looks really fun. (Might also be an awesome option for long airplane rides, probably doesn't use too much battery power.)
  19. Bloody hell. Right or wrong aside (since its still unknown), it sucks that the DRM removal is part of the suit, it'll scare even more of the industry off.
  20. Heh, not serious - it's not that bad, but certainly the controls & interface, combined, make for some borked functions. Clicking a stairs icon on the top right of the screen to go up a floor? Dialogue subtitles that scroll up into view depending on how long the line is, so that (a) half the time you wait 5 seconds to see the subtitles, and (b) you can't even skip until a certain point? Weird stuff. I have a high tolerance for usability issues, but I can see a lot of people just give up on it. I also have a lot of problem making the magic system recognise my rune tracings, but I'm assuming for now that it's me doing something stupid.
  21. Playing Arx Fatalis and it's quite good. Just has literally the worst controls I've ever seen. You whining about DS3 on PC? Play this Holy crap. Sold. Right now.
  22. You can teleport 'through' big enemies because the pathfinding assumes you teleport 'around' them, I think, which is nice.
  23. It's ok, Grommy, we think you're more disturbing. BTW, if he IS from Obsidian, is an offer of DS3 enough to bring him out?
  24. Yes, I suspect it's a much more mundane reason of (1) patch runs into last minute bug/trouble, or (2) annoying Steam/xbox/etc certification.
