  1. Every 3 levels - when you gain a power level - you get one ability per class. On all other level ups you may choose freely, but get only one point.
  2. I found the solution! Thank you youspoonybard! The inventory tooltip already contains both might and the 10% saber bonus, as these apply to each attack anyway. The base saber damage is 13-19 on a might 10 char and before the 10% is added. This means that the tooltips in the screenshot above finally make sense!
  3. You don't have to fully reroll to change the attributes, you can change them separately. It is still advisable to unequip everything first, to not be irritated by stat-boosts from items, pets... Example: iroll20s AttributeScore Player_XXXXX Might 10 XXXXX is your name, pressing tab after you typed in the first few letters of a command ("Attr...", "Pla...") autocompletes a command WARNING! This counts as "cheat" and disables achievements!!! Save before trying! I'm not responsible for anything
  4. I think this was a recent balance change (aimed to make might less of a no-brainer). Might is visible in the tooltip, so it doesn't seem to be responsible for the oddity. ______________ You could have found the solution - maybe the "details" panel that pops up when you inspect the sabre is "wrong" regarding the base damage - it might contain some other factors that apply to each attack (like might)!
  5. Not through the obvious respec system in taverns, so I doubt there is another way without console commands. If you don't care about achievements, it's pretty easy through the console, though.
  6. I just tested it: the off hand doesn't profit from backstab, even if you use a "full attack" ability. Sneak attack is calculated, however. A pity, really - maybe a shield isn't the worst choice for assassins ???
  7. Hmm... maybe the off-hand hit first, killed the enemy and there was no need to calculate the main hand??? EDIT: No, because the 10% saber bonus is in the calculation - must be the main hand! EDIT2: Right, if the main hand attack kills the target, the off hand won't be calculated on full attacks. On a side note, the off hand doesn't profit from backstab, even if you use a "full attack" ability. Sneak attack is calculated, however. I sill don't understand how a saber can "hit" for 13.9 damage?
  8. If you look at the screenshot, you'll see that I overpenetrated and scored a normal hit, so that's not the problem.
  9. Hi! While trying to understand backstab damage with abilities, I analyzed the detailed tooltip. But I fail to understand the calculation - maybe it's even a bug? I'm dual-wielding a saber and a dagger, and I used crippling strike (a "full attack" ability) from stealth. How can I only have 13.9 base damage? The saber alone should have 16-23 damage, and my off-hand is nowhere to be seen! Is it possible that the attack only used the off-hand? Note: Rinco was just the next best target after leveling up
  10. Wait - if a dualwielding rogue has the "backstab" passive and atatcks from stealth with a basic attack, only the main hand damage counts??? What if I attack from stealth with a "full attack" ability?
  11. I find "Whispers of Treason" to work surprisingly well for Assasin/Ascendant, but I have little experience so far. A charmed foe counts as "mind afflicted" for sneak attacks AFAIK and doesn't retaliate when hit. They just stand there and wait to be slaughtered. Ideally, your first dual-sabre hit from stealth one-shots the first foe and generates enough focus to ascend, then you spam WoT to quickly turn the tide of battle. This build is very vulnerably if one of your attacks or spells misses, however. And if you don't start the fight on your terms, things get very tough as well (Just trying if smokescreen helps...) NOTE: You need to manually force your party to attack charmed foes!
  12. I like the system. It allows me to distribute skills as they fit to each characters lore, and it makes sense to have a bit of a skill on multiple characters. No longer are some skill worthless on companions, no longer do you need to max one skill on each individual. It still makes sense to max skills I really care about on the watcher.
  13. Hi! I find it very hard to decide which class to take, which is a good thing! I imagine my main char to be scout for the group, annihilating small numbers of weaker foes alone from stealth (either by sniping them from range or going melee, whatever gets the job done). The focus is single target DPS from stealth. But I don't wanna be useless in group fights. The intro battle against the pirates made it very clear that I don't wanna suck when a scripted battle places me unstealthed in the front line. I also don't wanna die every time I can't oneshot a more powerful foe. So basically, I wan't to play a solo-capable assassin. Any suggestions? PS: I'm intentionally not posting any of the concepts I came up with, because I hope to hear of something I didn't find myself. Thanks!
  14. I think you just misunderstood, you did nothing wrong. It's when developers don't release review copies before a game is out that you should worry. Obsidian has already done that and allowed it to be livestreamed. Reviews themselves, however, are almost always released on the day of the games release. I don't usually post emotional clickbait, that's why I immediately regretted it. I wrote it in a moment of doubt, frustrated by the fact that I just can't soberly wait when a new interesting game gets released... Might be selective memory, but I remember some recent releases where reviews were available earlier.
  15. EDIT: Post deleted because I regret my sudden outburst of negativity Sorry!
  16. Thank you for your helpful answers! I'm still torn, for my planned squishy mindstalker, the bonus from "sword&shield style" seems very appealing. Then again, offense is the best defense... Weird when you think about in reality
  17. Haven't found this anywhere while searching: Spells all seem to have a noise rating in their description, so I assume this decides wether they break stealth? Does this mean a sneaking char can "snipe" enemies within a group with certain spells, not alerting the others? What about weapons? I haven't seen anything about their noise within the tooltips. Do I need to focus on bows when playing a sneaky assassin, or are guns also viable? Is there a difference between daggers and maces regarding noise?
  18. Hi! Could someone who played the beta please clarify something for me, so I know which weapon specialization to take next week? Adding a shield in the off-hand adds 4 deflection (or more at the cost of accuracy). A dagger in the off-hand may give 10 deflection in melee with the "parrying blade" modal (at the price of 25% dagger damage; according to the wiki). What about equipping a saber/sword/whatever in the main hand and adding a dagger? The drawback from parrying blade would only apply to the off-hand, or so I guess? Isn't this combo much better than a shield, then? Also, may I use two different melee modals at the same time?
  19. This is from Nerdcommando's Steam guide: Finishing Blow – a very potent tool against all kinds of fat and sturdy bosses and mini-bosses. For every percent of health they miss beyond 50%, it deals 3% extra damage. It may seem small but it adds up quickly and against foes with quarter of health it's already very good. But that's not the full story... Devastating Blow – this is. The description is funky – it's not +2% extra damage, that would've been insulting. It's +2% per missing percent of health, raking it up to 5%. And that's even more considerable. For a dragon, a quarter of health (where the bonus now is 125%) is still about a hundred points. This is an excellent tool for bringing that down to zero ASAP.
  20. Exactly, this is the best summary so far. I don't care about perfect balance, I accuse the devs of laziness. Her backstory would have offered several opportunities for unique and interesting gameplay. But instead, she's just a normal rogue who's stuck in bad armor, minus some stat points, minus a decent racial trait. It's similar for Pallegina - they "forgot" to give her order a unique ability, making gameplay with her less interesting than with a custom paladin.
  21. Now that you say it, I think I remember something similar. It would be great if someone knew more details?
  22. When you help the devil find the person who murdered her family, you look into his soul. She then asks you to tell her if he's the one (he is indeed a murderer and a bad person). IMHO, the guy surely deserves punishment for his deeds. Answering murder with murder is harsh, but given his deeds, I can somewhat justify it to my conscience. But I don't feel well about fighting his fellow woodcutters. They seem like uninvolved, innocent civilians to me. Sadly, there is no option to isolate him. Lying to the devil avoids blodshed, but otherwise leads to a very similar dialogue. My questions: - How have you decided? Does he deserve death? - Is it justifyable to lie to the devil to avoid bloodshed of innocents? - Does this decision catch up with you eventually?
  23. Amazing guide, pi2repsion!
